    Immaculate home, caring staff, concerns

I had mixed experiences: the small, immaculate, homey facility with caring, professional staff, prompt admission, Medicaid accepted, good daily care and outdoor space truly helped my loved one and made our family feel supported. However, inconsistent staff attitudes, safety/compliance and pest (bed bug) concerns, poor management responses, and distressing handling of visits/end-of-life left me wary - I recommend cautiously.

    Summary review

The reviews for Tender Heart Assisted Living present a mixed but primarily polarized picture: many reviewers praise the facility for its warm, small-home atmosphere and the attentive, professional nature of much of the staff, while a smaller but serious set of complaints raise significant concerns about pest control, regulatory compliance, and management behavior. Several reviewers emphasize that the facility feels like a clean, safe, and intimate environment — described as immaculate, odor-free, and like a "beautiful clean home" — with the benefit of mostly single-occupancy rooms, common areas, and outdoor patio space. These reviewers note fast admissions, Medicaid acceptance, daily meals, mobility assistance, and personal attention consistent with a small, family-style residential setting. Positive comments repeatedly highlight staff who are caring, polite, professional, and even humorous; several accounts describe staff helping with medical recoveries, providing excellent end-of-life care, and supporting families during bereavement. These echoes suggest that many residents and families experience high-quality interpersonal care and a secure environment.

However, the reviews also contain several serious and specific negative claims that contrast sharply with the positive accounts. The most alarming are reports of a bed bug infestation and allegations that pest control was neglected — including statements that no exterminator was observed and plans to report the facility to the health department. These complaints are paired with references to health department inspection failures and general safety and compliance concerns. Such issues point to potential lapses in facility operations and oversight that merit verification by checking public inspection records and asking management for documentation of recent pest-control and compliance actions.

Another notable theme is inconsistency in experiences with staff and management. While many reviewers praise individual caregivers and owners as patient, understanding, and professional, others describe poor staff quality, negative attitudes, and rude responses from owners or employees. This divergence suggests variability in staff behavior (possibly by shift or by individual) or changes over time in management or staffing. A particularly severe complaint alleges denial of family visits and neglect of a resident's end-of-life wishes, culminating in a description of a "rushed" death and a family left heartbroken. That account directly contradicts several other reviews that describe compassionate end-of-life support, indicating either isolated incidents or inconsistent policy enforcement.

Dining and daily life receive mixed feedback: reviewers commonly note that meals are provided and that special meals (for example, a positive report of a Christmas meal) can be pleasant. At least one reviewer, however, described the menu as "carb-heavy," signaling potential nutritional limitations or a need for more varied options. On physical facilities, positive comments about cleanliness, bathing options (tub and walk-in shower available in some areas), and the homelike setting are repeated; the contrasting bed-bug allegation is an important exception to those cleanliness claims and should be investigated.

Overall sentiment is polarized: a substantial number of reviewers strongly recommend Tender Heart Assisted Living for its small, caring, and clean environment, while a minority report severe operational and interpersonal problems that could have serious implications for resident safety and family trust. For prospective residents and families, the most prudent next steps would be to (1) tour the facility in person, observing cleanliness and pest-control measures; (2) ask management for recent health department inspection reports and pest-control receipts; (3) meet multiple staff members across different shifts to assess consistency of attitude and professionalism; and (4) inquire about visitation policies and end-of-life care practices to ensure alignment with family expectations. The facility appears to provide excellent, personalized care for many, but the contradictory negative reports — especially about infestation and compliance failures — are red flags that warrant direct verification before making placement decisions.
