    Gorgeous facility, caring staff, cautious

I placed my husband here and, personally, I'm very satisfied: the brand-new, gorgeous facility with stunning views and upscale, well-thought-out amenities is clean and feels like a smaller, welcoming community. The caregivers - led by Kitty - are compassionate, attentive and accommodating; they made us feel like family and gave me real peace of mind. Be aware I've heard reports of serious problems (neglect, theft, poor management response) from others, so visit carefully, but my own experience was excellent.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews for BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo show a generally positive picture for many families but also include at least one very serious negative report that cannot be ignored. Several reviewers emphasize exceptional, compassionate care and an upscale, brand-new environment; others report serious problems including neglect and theft. The result is a mixed but mostly favorable sentiment punctuated by a significant outlier that raises safety, security, and management-response concerns.

Care quality: Most reviewers describe the care as compassionate, personal, and attentive. Language such as "becomes like family quickly," "second family," and "makes resident feel special and loved" appear repeatedly, suggesting a strong person-centered approach for many residents. Caregivers are frequently characterized as caring, respectful, and quick to respond, and reviewers who had concerns reported those concerns were addressed immediately. However, one review describes the facility as "absolute worst," alleging neglect and poor care; this contradiction points to variability in experience and suggests inconsistency in care delivery for different residents or at different times.

Staff and leadership: Staff are commonly praised — kind, helpful, attentive, and accommodating — and several commenters state that staff provided safety, peace of mind, and practical support for family members (for example, helping with a husband's care and life celebrations). A named leader, Kitty, is positively mentioned as overseeing operations and exhibiting compassion and attention. Still, the one severe negative review claims management was unconcerned when serious issues were raised, indicating that while leadership is visible and valued by many, there may be instances where families feel their concerns are not being taken seriously.

Facility, amenities, and environment: The physical facility is consistently described in glowing terms: brand-new, gorgeous, with stunning views, upscale appointments, and a well-thought-out flow and amenities. Reviewers note that the community is clean and smaller in scale, which many families appreciate for a more intimate setting. These facility attributes appear to contribute strongly to the positive impressions of residents and visitors.

Safety, security, and policies: A majority of reviewers say the community provides safety and peace of mind, but the reviews also include an alarming allegation of jewelry theft that led to police involvement. That report includes an accusation that management was not concerned and that the reviewer regretted placing their loved one there. There is also a minor but specific complaint about a restrictive rule (not allowing artificial plants). These items expose potential gaps in security, property handling, incident response, and resident personal-item policies.

Consistency and patterns: The dominant pattern is of a high-quality, warm, well-appointed community with caring staff and strong leadership visible to families. Conversely, there is a stark outlier describing neglect, theft, and poor management response. This contrast creates a notable theme of inconsistent experience — many families feel confident and cared for, while at least one family reported severe problems that significantly undermined trust.

What prospective families should consider: Given the overall positive comments about staff, leadership, physical plant, and responsiveness to concerns — balanced against a severe accusation of theft and indifference — anyone considering BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo should visit in person, meet staff and leadership (including the named manager if possible), tour resident rooms and security features, and ask about incident reporting, background checks, staff turnover, and theft-prevention policies. It would also be prudent to request references from current families, ask how complaints are handled and escalated, and confirm specific community policies (for example, personal items like artificial plants).

Bottom line: Many reviews portray BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo as an upscale, clean, and compassionate smaller community with attentive staff and visible leadership that fosters a family-like atmosphere. However, a serious and specific negative report alleging neglect, theft, police involvement, and poor management response introduces a significant concern about consistency and safety. Prospective residents and their families should weigh the largely positive testimonials against that serious negative account and perform targeted due diligence on safety, security, and complaint resolution before making a placement decision.

    About BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo

BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo stands as a small, cozy senior living home in a quiet residential part of Bernalillo, New Mexico, where the family-like setting helps residents feel at ease and welcomed, and where the staff gets to know everyone's needs and preferences over time, always providing 24-hour support and a high staff-to-resident ratio, which really helps keep everyone safe and cared for in a way that feels less like an institution and more like a real home. The home welcomes adults over 55 without strict age limits, offering both assisted living and memory care for seniors who might need help with daily tasks, support with medication, or specialized care for dementia, and for families needing a break, there's short-term respite care too, making it a flexible option no matter the length of stay or changes in health.

With a small community size, usually about 12 to 16 people, residents here get private bedrooms with their own bathrooms-each bathroom has an ADA shower and some feature full tubs, while every room can be customized to feel more like home, and if a couple wishes to stay, they may inquire about shared rooms. Everyone enjoys home-cooked meals in a large open dining room, and there's "anytime dining" when schedules shift, as well as meal options for special diets, like gluten-free or low-sodium. The big, bright living room sees most of the daily action, from social activities to group exercises and games, and a piano or organ for music. Residents have plenty of indoor and outdoor common areas, including a safe courtyard, patio, and garden for fresh air or small gatherings.

People here use free Wi-Fi, cable TV, private phone jacks, and all utilities, including laundry and linens, are included, so family can always stay in touch. The staff handles all medication management, daily housekeeping, and personal care, and they keep a tight focus on safety, using a pendant emergency call system, secured yards in the memory care areas, and regular assessment of health needs, all to make sure the right care level meets changing needs over time.

There are structured daily programs full of social, educational, and physical activities so nobody feels left out or lonely, which could mean going on a fishing outing, working on a quilting project, or joining in devotional services or visits from chaplains. Residents who want a quieter day are welcome just to relax in the living areas or enjoy the view. BeeHive Homes of Bernalillo allows small pets with a fee, so people can bring a companion if they choose.

Payments can be made by check or credit card, and care fees are set by the level of services needed, with everything on one bill and no extra hidden charges. Here, the goal is to make the move to assisted living feel like the "next best place to home," with gentle, compassionate care, simple comforts, and a community of neighbors and staff where people help each other-and because the home's been serving seniors for many years as part of the BeeHive Homes family, there's a steady, familiar way of doing things that gives residents and families peace of mind.
