    Compassionate staff, clean, occasional lapses

I placed my mom at Lakeview and overall it was a blessing - the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, patient and compassionate, the caregivers attentive, the building clean, organized and homey, and the community amenities (community center, indoor pool, well-kept grounds) made her happy. Hospice care was excellent and she passed peacefully with a smile; staff longevity and quick communication gave our family confidence and support. Be aware there were a few troubling incidents - call lights sometimes went unanswered, isolated lapses in care were reported, and I ran into frustrating contract/financial issues - so read paperwork carefully and ask about responsiveness. With those caveats I would recommend Lakeview.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Lakeview Christian Home is mixed but leans toward strongly positive in many personal accounts while also containing several serious and recurring concerns. A substantial number of reviewers express deep gratitude for compassionate, professional care — particularly around end-of-life services. Multiple families described peace, dignity, and attentive hospice support when a resident passed, with specific hospice staff (e.g., named individuals such as Mike, Ashley, and Angie) singled out for praise. Reviewers consistently commend the facility's long-tenured staff, low turnover, and the presence of patient, knowledgeable caregivers who create a warm, home-like environment. Many residents and families emphasize that residents are not hungry, cold, or neglected and that the community provides strong emotional support and social interaction.

Facilities and lifestyle offerings are frequently highlighted as strengths. The grounds are described as beautiful and well-maintained, with lakes, streams, waterfalls, and tidy yards. The community center, indoor heated pool, fitness center, and library receive positive mentions and support an active lifestyle. Maintenance services included in housing (lawn care, HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and a responsive maintenance team are repeatedly praised; several reviewers noted quick fixes to issues like leaks. Long-term residents report strong social ties — daily gatherings, friendly neighbors, and a close-knit atmosphere that fosters friendships. The equity-back guarantee and worry-free living features are also attractive to many residents and families.

However, these positive impressions are tempered by a series of serious, specific concerns that prospective residents and families should consider. Several reviews describe critical lapses in clinical responsiveness: nurses not answering call lights, staff standing idly at a nurses' station, and at least one report that a resident was left with a call light on and not attended. More severe allegations include neglected patients, failure to provide appropriate diets, falls resulting in injury, and at least one reviewer who attributed poor care to a resident’s death. These reports contrast sharply with the many positive testimonials, indicating inconsistent standards of care or uneven staff performance depending on shifts or departments.

Additional operational and reputational issues appear across multiple reviews. A number of families reported financial and contractual disputes — delayed housing sales, monies owed, HOA fees being charged after a home was no longer owned, and broader concerns about contract transparency; one review even referenced potential criminal behavior and class-action ramifications. There are also complaints about communication breakdowns (families experiencing a “runaround,” phone-only contact limitations due to distance, or difficulty getting answers). Cleanliness impressions are mixed: while many call the facility clean and organized, there are isolated but striking mentions of strong urine odor and dirty conditions. Some reviewers feel the physical facility is dated and has not been meaningfully updated since the 1980s.

Taken together, the reviews portray Lakeview Christian Home as a place that can offer excellent, heartfelt care and a genuinely supportive community for many residents, especially with long-term staff continuity and strong hospice services. At the same time, there are recurring red flags around clinical responsiveness, safety incidents, financial/contractual transparency, and occasional lapses in cleanliness and modern upkeep. For prospective residents and families, the reviews suggest several prudent steps: tour the facility multiple times, observe different shifts (including evenings/weekends), ask specific questions about nurse call response times and staffing ratios, request recent inspection and incident reports, review contracts carefully (including equity-back and HOA policies), and speak directly with current residents and families about consistency of care. These actions will help balance the many heartfelt positive reports against the significant negative incidents documented in other reviews.
