Ellicott Center is a 160-bed skilled nursing facility in Buffalo that belongs to the Centers Health Care network and it's open around the clock every day. The staff offers short-term and long-term care, and there's a strong focus on both rehabilitation services and skilled nursing, where you can find 24-hour registered nurse staffing and multiple hands-on caregivers for each resident. Residents get help with recovery using advanced rehab technology through the Go Rehab Program and RehabStrong™, and rehab services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available, with plans individualized for each person. There's a specialized unit for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, plus licensed gerontologists and clinical specialists assist with residents' health conditions, providing care and therapies in a specially designed environment. For anyone needing access to health programs, services range from cardiac care and orthopedic care to dialysis, pain management, wound care, and HIV/AIDS care, along with a neurobehavioral unit for traumatic brain injuries. They also provide hospice care, ventilator care, respite care for families, home nursing services, adult day care, assisted living, and sub-acute rehab. Ellicott Center uses electronic medical records for care coordination, which helps keep things organized and clear for the staff. The environment aims to be comfortable and dignified, offering community engagement, wellness programs as part of "Your Stay," and a nutrition program to support a healthy lifestyle, and residents have access to a barbershop, beauty salon, and optical services right on site. Faith practices are respected with both Protestant and Catholic worship services held regularly, and social, nutritional, and pastoral care are part of daily life. There's high-speed internet throughout the building, as well as transportation and parking options, and the building's fully handicap accessible. Visitation and COVID-19 protocols follow CMS and New York State Department of Health rules, with screening, testing, and PPE encouraged. The facility holds a CMS Five Star Rating, and the focus stays on measuring daily progress toward recovery and rehabilitation goals, supporting residents in building new friendships, and helping families stay involved.

Neglect led to father's death
I trusted this facility with my father and it was a nightmare. Staff were rude, lazy and undertrained - missed meds, ignored call bells, left residents in urine or feces, skipped bed checks and even failed to prevent falls and other safety incidents (including assault). The building smells, rooms are dirty, administration is unresponsive, and only a couple caring aides stood out amid systemic neglect that contributed to my father's death. Do not send your loved one here - report them and insist on oversight.
