    Compassionate staff, good care, inspect

I'm very grateful for the caring, patient staff - compassionate, attentive caregivers who made our family member feel special and gave us real peace of mind. The place is generally clean, with tasty meals and lots of activities and outings (movies with popcorn, bingo, exercise, trips), and many locations feel freshly remodeled and family-run. That said, some areas had small rooms, dated furnishings, and occasional staffing/management inconsistencies, so inspect the specific unit and availability. Overall I'd recommend it for quality, attentive care, but do check room size, pricing and staffing first.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of GrandeVille Senior Living Community are largely positive but show clear variability. Many family members and residents praise the staff’s warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go above and beyond; multiple reviewers single out particular employees and the recreation director by name. The community is frequently described as homey and family-run, with a small-community feel, good communication with families, and an open visiting policy. At the same time, several reviewers report inconsistencies in care and facility condition: some parts of the community have been freshly remodeled and receive glowing comments, while other parts are described as dated, dreary, or in need of further updates.

Care quality and staffing: Across reviews the most prominent strength is staff compassion and individualized attention. Numerous reviewers report that nurses, aides, and administrators are kind, patient, and responsive; many families say staff “go above and beyond,” that residents feel comfortable, and that they have peace of mind, particularly in memory care. There are multiple reports of consistent staffing and long-tenured employees, which supports continuity of care. However, multiple critiques raise concern about inconsistent care, especially on certain shifts or during nights. Specific allegations include aides being disengaged or on cell phones, absence of a night manager on duty, and situations where residents only receive fuller attention when family members are present. Some reviews explicitly call for more oversight of aides and improved night coverage. Staffing shortages and mixed quality among personnel are recurring themes — while some caregivers are praised highly, others are described as rough or less attentive.

Facilities and physical environment: The property receives mixed marks. Reviewers repeatedly note that parts of the community are freshly remodeled — new flooring, walls, décor, furniture — and those sections are described as bright, light, and attractive. Amenity highlights include a round-shaped building with a central courtyard, outdoor patios, many sitting areas, a chapel, library, movie room (popcorn machine), and a variety of community spaces (pool table room, big-screen TV room, craft room). Conversely, several reviewers describe older wings as run-down, dark, or depressing, with dreary furniture and outdated bathrooms (including old bathtubs that present accessibility issues). Room sizes are often called out as small; while some rooms are spacious and accommodate residents’ furniture, others are cramped. Prospective residents should verify which wings have been renovated and inspect specific rooms for size and accessibility.

Dining and activities: Dining and programming are strong selling points for many families. Numerous reviewers praise the meals as tasty, well-balanced, and generous, and call out regular snack service. The community offers a broad activity calendar — daily bingo, craft sessions, cards, exercise classes, weekly outings, ice cream socials, church services, and organized trips (store runs, doctor appointments, movie outings). The movie room and popcorn machine are specific amenities cited often. Several reviewers highlight engaged recreation staff and events that foster socialization. That said, a subset of reviews criticizes the dining experience (unimpressive menus and occasional rudeness from dietary staff) and says activities are sometimes scheduled but not actually carried out, or that recreation staff have been disengaged. COVID-era dining restrictions were also noted as a past negative for communal dining experience.

Management, culture, and value: Many reviewers emphasize a family-owned, family-oriented culture and responsive administration — with examples of staff and managers being proactive, compassionate, and attentive to families’ needs. Several positive reviews explicitly recommend GrandeVille and cite competitive pricing or the “best prices” among local options. Conversely, a few reviews allege poor management practices toward employees, describe the operation as profit-driven, or warn of prejudice; these are minority views but noteworthy because they relate to staff morale and retention. Value impressions are split: some view GrandeVille as an excellent, affordable choice that nonetheless provides strong care and amenities, while others feel it offers poor value for money because of older facilities or inconsistent services. Memory care receives particularly strong praise, with several reviewers saying they trust the facility for memory care and experience peace of mind.

Patterns and recommendations: The dominant pattern is one of a warm, caring staff and a community with good activities and desirable on-site services (hairdresser, podiatrist, chapel, library), combined with variability in physical condition and staff consistency across shifts. Renovation efforts appear to be improving parts of the campus and enhancing the resident experience, but not all areas have been updated. For families considering GrandeVille, the reviews suggest several practical steps: tour multiple times and visit both renovated and older wings; confirm room sizes and bathroom accessibility for the intended resident; ask directly about night staffing, manager-on-duty coverage, and aide supervision; observe activity execution (not just the posted calendar); sample food; check which services are included and what costs private-pay options entail; and inquire about staff turnover and employee morale.

Bottom line: GrandeVille scores highly for compassionate caregiving, engaging programming, helpful ancillary services, and a home-like, family-run atmosphere. It is especially strong for families seeking memory care and personalized attention at a reasonable price. However, inconsistencies in facility condition and some staffing/oversight issues (notably on nights and in reported aide behavior) create variability in the resident experience. The community can be an excellent fit for families prioritizing warmth, activities, and close communication, provided they verify the specific unit, staffing arrangements, and recent renovations during their visit.

    About GrandeVille Senior Living Community

GrandeVille Senior Living Community sits on more than five peaceful acres in the Town of Greece, New York, and offers a home-like setting with private rooms, shared suites, and plenty of cozy common areas where folks can gather or have family visits if their own rooms feel a bit cramped, and you'll find it's privately run and still owned by a local family, which means the atmosphere tends to feel pretty neighborly and easy-going. For more than forty years, GrandeVille's provided a range of senior care, from independent living apartments for people who're active and want hassle-free living, all the way through assisted living, enhanced care, and a strong adult day care program, so you'll see people coming in for daily social activities or just community meals along with residents who need extra help over the long term. There's a big focus at GrandeVille on comfort, dignity, and seeing to residents' changing needs, so they have a 24-hour team of thoughtful, cheerful staff who help with everything from medication management and personal care to emergency needs and simple companionship, and all staff go through background checks. They offer help with showers or baths, incontinence care, diabetic management, and all sorts of physical therapy, and there's even a part-time nurse and on-site clinic for things like regular check-ups, podiatry, and lab services when required.

The Mary Regina Memory Care Community is a big part of the campus, with a special household approach for folks living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, and it's all set up with that idea of keeping a safe but homey environment-delayed egress doors, walking paths, and an enclosed courtyard, plus a country kitchen where residents and staff can eat together and keep things social. The staff focus on supporting memory care residents with daily cognitive and enrichment activities, and there's always someone around for medication and nutritional management, personal care, and a bedtime routine. GrandeVille offers traditional assisted living too, with support for daily living tasks in a setting that tries to feel as much like home as possible, and they want people to be as independent as they can for as long as they can, so there are activities and outings seven days a week.

On top of long-term stays, the community allows for trial stays if someone's not sure about moving in permanently, as well as short-term respite care for seven to sixty days if someone needs transitional care after a hospital rehab or just a break for family caregivers. The campus itself has a lot of comforts-lounges and sitting areas, a library, arts and crafts room, chapel with regular non-denominational services, a dining room where everyone eats three home-cooked meals and snacks, plus outdoor gardens and walking paths. They allow pets under their pet-friendly policy and offer complimentary transportation for appointments, outings, and shopping, with on-site Case Managers ready to help with financial or personal matters. Programming keeps folks active and connected, with daily recreational and fitness activities, bingo, arts, field trips, devotional services, and even bigger group events like ice cream socials or community dinners. Housekeeping, maintenance, laundry, and linen services are provided regularly, and there's an emergency call system for peace of mind.

GrandeVille is licensed and regulated by New York State Department of Health, with license number 370F230, and they're known in the area as an award-winning senior community, having received recognition for care and support. The culture leans toward friendliness and respect, and staff are both professional and kind with residents, visitors, and each other, always working to maintain a supportive and joyful place to live. They encourage families to visit, join in outings-like trips to the Bills Training Camp or just community shopping runs-and tours of their renovated campus are always welcomed. The whole idea is to offer an easy, supportive environment where seniors get care that's as comprehensive or light-touch as they need, while feeling comfortable and at home.
