    About Carriage Court Of Kenwood

Carriage Court of Kenwood used to sit in a busy area close to The Jewish Hospital, Kenwood Towne Centre, and I-71, so folks found it pretty handy for visiting or getting to appointments, and the place always worked to be a friendly, steady home for older adults who needed some extra help. The community ran both assisted living and memory care, had nurses on staff, a doctor on call, and staff working all around the clock, which meant someone was always there when you needed them. Some folks lived in studios, others in semi-private or two-bedroom apartments, and there were kitchenettes, private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable TV, phones, and even wall-to-wall carpeting in the living units, which always stayed fully furnished and clean thanks to regular housekeeping and maintenance.

Residents got help with daily needs like dressing, bathing, eating, toileting, medication reminders, and mobility, plus there were special programs for memory care and help for those with conditions like Alzheimer's and dementia. The building kept things secure with an emergency response system, locked doors, and even bracelets that would set off alarms if someone tried to wander off. Memory care happened in its own secure section, and extra help was always nearby, especially for residents who needed two-person transfers or had trouble walking. There was in-house skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapist visits, hospice care, respite care, visiting specialists, and adult day care services too. Folks who needed help with diabetes-like insulin shots and sugar checks-could get that, and there was help for bowel or bladder needs, though you did need to be able to manage incontinence yourself with some reminders from the staff.

There was plenty of company, too, with daily activities run by a full-time Activity Director, including arts and crafts, educational lectures, story time, games, musical groups, brain fitness, gardening, and stretching or yoga classes. People enjoyed movie nights, card games, outings, shopping trips, spiritual gatherings, and sometimes intergenerational events. The place had a recreation room, gym, walking paths, an arts room, gardens, outdoor patios, and a barber and beauty shop for easy haircuts and pampering. Meals were served restaurant-style by a professional chef with attention to diets and allergies, but you could eat in your room or bring a guest to meals, and there was always coffee and snacks to be found. Residents had all their utilities, internet, cable, and laundry services taken care of, and never had to worry about cooking, cleaning, or driving, since transportation and parking were included, with rides to shopping or medical appointments offered by the community.

Pets were allowed, so many had cats or dogs, and the community welcomed folks 55 and over, with options for lighter or heavier care needs as things changed. There were specialized care plans, support for those at risk of wandering or with strong behavioral needs, and state licensing to keep care standards up. The facility won a few awards for meals, activities, and friendly staff, and reviews from families usually spoke well of the care and support people received. All in all, Carriage Court of Kenwood aimed to help people keep some independence while making sure there was help nearby, a steady schedule, some good company, and a safe space for folks who needed a little or a lot of daily support before it closed.
