    Mostly wonderful but some concerns

I've found Edgewood mostly wonderful - caring, knowledgeable staff who treat residents like family, a clean, easy-to-navigate facility with fun activities (singing, bingo, holiday events) and a strong team I'd recommend. That said, I've also heard and seen some serious concerns (occasional mean or unresponsive staff, carpet/cleanliness issues, and past management/privacy problems), so visit in person and ask about recent changes before deciding.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews for Edgewood Manor of Greenfield are strongly mixed, with a large proportion of reviewers praising the staff and daily life while a minority report serious administrative and safety concerns. The dominant positive theme is that many front-line caregivers are compassionate, engaged, and treat residents like family; multiple reviewers emphasize warm, team-oriented caregiving and recommend the facility. At the same time, several reviewers describe troubling leadership-related and safety issues that dramatically affect their trust and willingness to recommend the facility. These conflicting reports produce a polarized overall sentiment: many feel very positively about daily care and community life, while others have experienced or allege serious problems under recent management changes.

Care quality and staffing: Numerous reviews highlight exceptional caregiving: nurses and aides are described as loving, caring, responsive, and the "heart and soul" of the facility. Several comments call out good communication from nursing staff and praise the facility as a rewarding place to work in patient care. However, there are also explicit accounts of poor staff behavior and at least one report of finding a resident loudly calling for help, which reviewers characterize as a breach of safety and trust. Thus, while front-line caregivers receive frequent commendation, there appears to be variability in individual staff performance and responsiveness, and a small but significant number of reviews report instances where responsiveness and resident safety were inadequate.

Management and governance: Reviews suggest a notable divergence in perceptions of management. Some reviewers describe management as "amazing" and supportive, but several others indicate problems after a change in administration. Serious allegations appear in the summaries — including disrespect toward staff and residents, claims of corruption, alleged illegal healthcare practices, and even privacy violations where personal files became public knowledge. These are serious concerns that stand apart from typical quality complaints and indicate potential systemic or leadership shortcomings according to reviewers. Multiple comments imply that the change in administrator may correlate with the negative reports, suggesting a temporal pattern where service quality or practices declined for some reviewers after leadership turnover.

Facility, cleanliness, and environment: Many reviewers compliment the facility’s environment: easy-to-navigate layout, new floors recently added that improved the appearance, and a number of reviewers report the facility is very clean. Conversely, several reviews specifically mention old, dirty, or green carpet areas that needed cleaning, indicating inconsistency in upkeep. The physical environment therefore appears to be generally pleasant and updated in parts, but with uneven maintenance in other areas. The facility’s social atmosphere is described as family-oriented and welcoming by many reviewers.

Activities and community life: Edgewood Manor receives consistent praise for social programming and community engagement. Specific activities mentioned include singing with residents, bingo, and participation in exercise classes sponsored at a local library. Holiday programming — notably a Christmas gift event — is singled out as enjoyable and well-run, with residents having a great time. These activity-related positives contribute strongly to perceptions of a warm, engaging community for residents.

Safety, privacy, and trust concerns: Among the most significant negative themes are safety and privacy-related issues. Reports of lack of responsiveness (one reviewer recounts finding their mother hollering for help) raise concerns about monitoring and emergency response practices. The allegation of privacy violations — personal files becoming public knowledge — and claims of illegal healthcare practices and corruption, while not detailed, are serious and, if accurate, indicate systemic problems requiring investigation. These high-severity complaints contrast sharply with otherwise positive caregiver reports and represent the principal reason some reviewers strongly advise against the facility.

Patterns and recommendations for prospective families or employees: The reviews indicate that experiences at Edgewood Manor can vary considerably. Many families and staff have positive, even glowing, impressions centered on caring staff, meaningful activities, and a supportive community. Yet a subset of reviewers report severe administrative and safety issues that undermine trust. This pattern suggests variability over time or between units/shifts, and possibly a correlation with administrative changes. Prospective residents, families, and job-seekers should consider these mixed signals: arrange an in-person tour, observe staff-resident interactions, ask about recent changes in leadership, request documentation on incident reports, staffing ratios, licensing inspections, and privacy practices, and ask for references from current families or staff. Where serious allegations are alleged (privacy breaches, illegal practices), contacting state regulators or reviewing inspection reports could provide objective context.

Conclusion: Edgewood Manor of Greenfield appears to offer strong day-to-day resident engagement, compassionate caregivers, and a family-oriented atmosphere for many residents and employees. However, conflicting reports—especially those alleging disrespect, corruption, privacy violations, and instances of poor responsiveness—are significant and warrant careful scrutiny. The facility may offer an excellent experience under the right circumstances and staff, but the variability in reviewer experiences means that individual evaluation, direct questioning of management about the specific concerns raised, and review of official inspection records are important steps before making placement or employment decisions.
