    Beautiful facility, but safety concerns

I love the beautiful, new, home-like facility in Maineville - cozy, luxurious rooms, open dining area, fresh daily food and a warm, family-owned atmosphere. The caregivers are compassionate, experienced and dedicated, with a low resident-to-caregiver ratio and attentive leadership that really treats residents like family. That said, I was alarmed by safety lapses (elopements, door alarm not set, staff/owner initially unaware, police and Ohio Dept. of Health involvement) and protocol changes that didn't seem effective. I'd consider placing a loved one here for the care and setting, but strongly recommend checking public/state records and confirming current safety measures first.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the review summaries is strongly positive about Mimi's House Assisted Living and Memory Care as a new, small-scale, residential alternative to larger ‘big box’ facilities. Reviewers consistently highlight the facility’s low resident-to-caregiver ratio, family-like atmosphere, and the owners’ knowledge and hands-on approach. The brand-new, modern concept of smaller group homes and a residential design is repeatedly praised: the building is described as beautiful and luxurious, with large rooms, open-concept common areas, a welcoming dining room and kitchen, and comfortable, homey touches. Many reviewers specifically recommend the facility for its personalized, one-on-one care model and 24-hour attention, which they feel supports tailored care plans and closer relationships between staff, residents, and families.

Staff-related themes are among the strongest positives. Reviews emphasize an attentive, compassionate, and experienced caregiving team, with owners and leadership who are engaged and motivating. Several comments note a positive workplace culture, strong leadership, accountability in a high-stakes environment, and staff passion for healthcare. This is reflected in routine operational strengths mentioned by multiple reviewers: cleanliness, fresh meals daily, snacks available, and a welcoming open-house impression. The facility’s local, family-owned nature and the impression of a stable, caring culture make it attractive to families seeking a homelike setting where residents are treated “like family.” Many reviews explicitly recommend the facility and say they would place a loved one there.

Dining and activity offerings are mentioned positively: family-style dining at a large table, regular meals and activities, and an inviting common area that encourages socialization. The residential layout and small home scale appear to support social engagement and a more personalized activities program compared with larger institutional settings. Reviewers often name the facility as an answer to a need for different senior-living options in the area, especially in Maineville, citing it as a much-needed and welcome alternative.

Despite the largely favorable comments, a clear and significant concern appears repeatedly: safety lapses related to elopement. Multiple summaries reference an elopement where a door alarm was reportedly not set, staff (and initially the owner) were unaware, and the incident involved police and resulted in Ohio Department of Health involvement. Reviewers indicate that protocol changes were made afterward but express skepticism about their effectiveness. One review was extremely negative (0 stars) and describes a deeply dissatisfied experience. These safety-related reports are serious and stand in contrast to otherwise positive appraisals of care and facility design. Several summaries explicitly advise prospective families to check public/state records — an instruction indicating that regulatory documentation and incident histories are important to review when considering placement.

Taken together, the pattern is of a thoughtfully designed, well-staffed, and warmly run small assisted-living and memory-care model that many reviewers praise for personalization, warmth, and facility quality. However, at least one notable safety incident(s) and related regulatory attention have caused concern among reviewers and prompt caution: prospective residents and families should verify the facility’s current safety protocols, read state inspection reports, and ask management specifically about any past incidents and what concrete, auditable changes were implemented. For many families the pros — individualized care, compassionate staff, beautiful home-like environment, and strong leadership — outweigh the reported negatives, but the safety concerns are material and should be independently investigated before making placement decisions.
