    Renovated facility with excellent activities

I stayed two nights in a rental apartment and was impressed - nice, recently renovated rooms with new appliances, flooring and cabinets. The staff were friendly, the indoor pool was a comfy 88°F, and the activities (crocheting, quilting, stained glass, woodworking, plays and church events) plus the community garden/woodshop and large meeting area kept me busy; the dining area's food looked wonderful. It's an older, suburban facility in Waverly with limited nearby options and a waiting list, but overall I found it very nice and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overview: The reviews emphasize a socially active, amenity-rich community with clear investment in interior updates. Recreational and creative programming is a prominent feature: extensive craft options (crocheting, knitting, quilting, stained glass), a woodshop, church activities, plays and performances, and a community garden provide a range of engagement opportunities. The facility is described as having spacious common areas and a large meeting/event space suitable for gatherings.

Care and staff: Reviewer comments focus on positive interpersonal interactions. Staff are characterized as friendly and approachable, and short-stay apartment arrangements have been used successfully by at least one visitor. The available commentary centers on social and service dimensions rather than detailed clinical outcomes; there are no consistent patterns of clinical-care concerns evident in the provided summaries, but the dataset is limited and does not substitute for a clinical quality review or inspection records.

Dining: The dining room and food presentation receive favorable mentions. The dining area is noted as attractive and meals are described as looking appealing. This suggests management attention to meal-service presentation and communal dining environments.

Facilities and programming: On-site physical amenities are a strong point. An indoor, heated pool (noted around 88°F) and an active woodshop distinguish the facility from more typical social programming. Interior renovations — including new appliances, flooring, paint, and cabinets — indicate capital improvements to living spaces and common areas. At the same time, the property appears to occupy an older building footprint, which can influence layout and accessibility despite the interior updates.

Management and notable patterns: Management appears to support a broad activity schedule and has invested in cosmetic and amenity upgrades, which aligns with the facility being described positively and being in demand (a waiting list is mentioned). Location is a factor for prospective residents and families: the suburban/rural setting provides a quieter, low-density campus but also means limited immediate access to external amenities and transit. Prospective residents should weigh the strong on-site programming and renovated interiors against the older building layout and local service availability, and should confirm current admission wait times and the scope of clinical services during the decision process.

    About Waverly Care Center, Inc.

Waverly Care Center, Inc. sits on 133 acres in a quiet, scenic part of Waverly, Ohio, at 444 Cherry St, and has served seniors for decades as a faith-based, non-denominational not-for-profit community. The place started out as company housing and now provides different senior living options like assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, independent living, and hospice, so folks can stay in one spot even when their care needs change as they age. The staff respects each resident and aims to give care tailored to individual needs, with nurses on staff part time, people trained in memory care, and 24-hour nursing care plus emergency monitoring.

The campus holds both private and semi-private apartments, many with kitchenettes, and certain units come with kitchen appliances. Housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services are available, along with meals and dining services that offer nutritious choices and guest meals when families visit. The community isn't pet friendly, so cats and dogs can't live with residents, but the place tries to make everyone feel at home in other ways, like on-site and off-site devotional activities, on-site religious services, and plenty of indoor and outdoor common areas-there's even a garden for some fresh air.

Waverly Care Center features a modern activity center that's 65,000 square feet, an indoor swimming pool with aquatic exercise programs, a climate-controlled walking track, a well-equipped fitness center, and other amenities like a woodshop, library, salon, and a café. For folks who enjoy being active, there are resident-led activities, group outings, social programs, games, hobbies, and field trips. Residents can join in fitness and wellness programs, and use the barber or beauty salon on site. Those who are full-time residents can get a membership at the Chillicothe Country Club nearby, which is something you don't see at most places.

Residents who need more help can access services like medication management, supervision, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, as well as incontinence and diabetic care, plus secure memory care for those with memory loss, and respite care. There's access to extra support through affiliates like National Church Residences, which helps bring home healthcare, hospice, and some primary care right to a resident's apartment. Transportation is available for appointments and shopping, and entertainment venues are on the grounds, so there's a good bit to do without traveling far. The community recently updated its residences, dining, landscaping, and personal services, keeping things fresh and safe for folks living there. The place tries to keep up a sense of dignity and well-being for all residents while making sure spiritual and personal enrichment are yearly goals, and the staff works hard to keep everyone feeling connected and supported as they age.
