    Warm attentive care, spotless facility

I placed my dad at Brookdale Durant and couldn't be happier - the staff are warm, attentive and caring, the place is spotless and home-like, and the executive director responds immediately. Meals are good with alternatives, activities keep residents engaged, pandemic policies and communication put our family at ease, and they treated my wife exactly as she is. I highly recommend Brookdale Durant - excellent care that reduced our family's stress.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the collected reviews is strongly positive. The facility is repeatedly described as clean, well-kept, and home-like, with many reviewers emphasizing an inviting, family-like atmosphere. Multiple families explicitly recommend the community and describe it as one of the best or the nicest place in town. Positive descriptors are consistent across independent reviews: the property is attractive, common areas are pleasant (courtyard, sun room), and parking and location are convenient for families.

Care quality and resident well-being are prominent strengths in the reviews. Families report attentive, responsive caregiving with regular checks and overnight monitoring. Specific outcomes such as weight gain and improved comfort are noted, indicating individualized attention. Several reviewers praised staff for handling challenging patients calmly and effectively. Communication about care is frequently praised — reviewers mention prompt responses to texts and emails from the executive director and other staff, and that care questions are addressed quickly.

Staff and management receive strong, repeated praise. Reviewers singled out the executive director for immediate responsiveness and caring behavior, and named staff members (for example, the marketer Whitney) as kind and helpful. The general tenor is that staff are friendly, welcoming, and supportive — they turn on games or TV for residents’ enjoyment and encourage family involvement. That said, a minority of reviews mention staff turnover as a concern, so while the day-to-day interactions are largely positive, continuity of staff may be something families notice.

Facilities and amenities are described positively with a few caveats. The building is described as clean and updated, with amenities such as a salon, a small exercise room, a sun room, and a pleasant courtyard. Virtual tours and walkthroughs are available and left a good impression on at least one reviewer. The limitations mentioned relate primarily to space: several reviewers noted that resident rooms are small and the exercise room is small, which could matter for people seeking larger private accommodations or more robust fitness facilities.

Dining and activities are other notable strengths. Meals are described as appealing with alternative options offered, and families observed staff encouraging dining and monitoring nutrition. Activities are varied and engaging: reviewers mentioned school visits, a new activities director who encourages participation, and an active calendar that contributes to a fun, safe environment. These social and programming elements are credited with reducing family stress and improving residents’ quality of life.

Patterns and areas for consideration: The dominant pattern is highly favorable — consistent comments about cleanliness, attentive staff, strong management communication, and enjoyable programming recur throughout the reviews. However, some potential drawbacks appear in multiple places: room size is frequently described as small, some families noted staff turnover, and a few reviewers said the community simply wasn’t the right fit for their needs. Those caveats suggest that while the facility meets or exceeds expectations for many families, prospective residents should verify room dimensions, inquire about staff continuity, and tour to ensure the community matches personal preferences.

In summary, the reviews portray a well-managed, clean, and warm community with strong, responsive leadership and caring staff. The facility offers appealing dining and active programming, encourages family involvement, and provides a safe environment. The main tangible limitations to weigh are smaller private room sizes and reports of some staff turnover. For families prioritizing responsive management, engaged activities, and a home-like atmosphere, the facility receives many strong recommendations; those seeking larger private spaces or maximum staffing continuity should ask targeted questions during a tour.
