    Unsafe staff, neglect, poor care

I would never place a loved one here. My mother was dropped, suffered a broken leg and later died after being in their care. Staff were often invisible, rude and unprofessional - yelling down halls, refusing doctor-prescribed meds, no rounds, locked doors, HIPAA/privacy breaches, awful smells, and even missing resident money in my experience. Intake was hostile and billing/payment disputes followed. A few caregivers and the rehab/therapy team were compassionate and skilled, but overall the safety, care quality, and customer service are unacceptable - check the records and visit in person.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the collected reviews is strongly negative, though there are pockets of positive feedback. Multiple reviewers describe serious, systemic problems affecting quality of care, safety, facility conditions, and administrative practices. At the same time a number of reviews single out individual staff and the therapy department for positive, compassionate care and competent rehabilitation services. This results in a mixed but predominantly critical picture: families and visitors warn others to avoid placing loved ones at this facility, while some residents and families praise specific employees or the rehab team.

Care quality and patient safety are the most frequent and serious concerns. Reviews allege neglect of basic patient needs (grooming, hygiene), denial or lack of adequate pain medication, and direct care failures such as patients being dropped, suffering broken bones, or otherwise experiencing harm. One review references a Medicare inspection failure (2011) tied to neglect of basic care. There are also highly alarming allegations that a resident died under the facility’s care and that money was stolen from residents; these are reported by reviewers and should be treated as serious claims that warrant verification. Multiple reviewers also observed no visible staff presence at times, no regular rounds, and at least one report of an LPN refusing to administer a doctor-prescribed medication — all of which point to inconsistent or unsafe clinical practices.

Staff behavior and culture feature as another major theme with wide variation: several reviewers describe staff as rude, unprofessional, yelling down halls, and creating a negative, hostile atmosphere. Intake staff and front-desk interactions are specifically criticized. Conversely, other reviews praise individual caregivers as hardworking, caring, and compassionate, and some highlight a helpful, smiling staff. This inconsistency suggests variability by shift, unit, or specific employees — families may encounter highly different experiences depending on timing and personnel.

Facility, amenities, and environment concerns are repeatedly mentioned. Reviewers report that rooms lack phones and TVs provided by the facility, requiring residents to supply and set up their own equipment. Locked entry and a lack of visible staff combined with pervasive foul odors suggest issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and perceived safety. Privacy and HIPAA violations are also alleged, indicating problems with confidentiality procedures. The overall description of the building as smelling awful and having a negative atmosphere compounds worries about housekeeping and infection-control standards.

Management, administration, and financial issues are another consistent complaint. Reviewers describe terrible customer service, billing disputes, unpaid work, and at least one reviewer threatening a civil suit. There are claims that the facility prioritizes money over care, creating mistrust among families. Reports of theft from residents, if accurate, would indicate serious lapses in oversight and resident protection. Several reviewers explicitly advise checking records, visiting the facility in person, and researching inspection outcomes before considering placement.

Positive notes are concentrated around the therapy and rehabilitation services and a subset of staff members. Multiple reviewers recommend the rehab team and outpatient services and say these departments are effective and would be a reason to choose the facility in some cases. A few reviewers also note recent positive changes or improvements in care, suggesting some efforts toward betterment. However, these positives appear overshadowed by systemic complaints about day-to-day nursing care, safety, and administration.

In summary, the reviews present a facility with troubling and recurrent allegations: inconsistent and at times unsafe clinical care, serious safety incidents, poor cleanliness and amenities, administrative and financial disputes, and concerns about privacy and regulatory compliance. There are genuine positives — notably a well-regarded therapy department and some compassionate staff — but the dominant message from reviewers is caution and dissatisfaction. Prospective residents and families should perform thorough due diligence: visit in person (including evenings and weekends), check state inspection reports and Medicare findings, ask about staffing patterns and medication administration policies, and speak with current residents and their families to assess consistency of care and the facility’s responsiveness to concerns.

    About Edwards Redeemer Nursing Center

Edwards Redeemer Nursing Center sits at 1530 NE Grand Blvd in Oklahoma City, OK, and works as a nursing home for seniors who need help with everyday tasks or have health conditions needing close care, and although there's not a lot of unique public information about the place itself, you will find that this community does provide short- and long-term nursing care, memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, assisted living, and personal care services, all in a setting where someone's always there, as they have 12 to 16 hour nursing staffing with 24-hour call system supervision, and daily support with things like bathing, dressing, getting around, and medication management. Residents have studio units, most of them coming with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air-conditioning, cable, and Wi-Fi, and the rooms are usually furnished so that folks can get settled in quickly, plus there's housekeeping and linen service available to help keep things tidy. Meals are served restaurant-style, with menus designed for different needs, including people with diabetes or special diets, so no one has to worry about cooking, and plenty of activities fill the week-both events run by staff and the residents themselves, along with planned outings and daily routines, giving people a way to stay involved or just relax if they want. The building has fitness and wellness centers, activity and gaming rooms, a small library and computer center, and outdoor areas such as gardens and places to sit and enjoy the view, and you'll often see people making use of the cozy sitting spots or taking part in group exercises and memory-focused programs. The location is in a neighborhood where everything's nearby, from hospitals, drug stores, and banks, to dining, grocery, coffee shops, and marketplaces, so family or friends coming by don't have far to go for errands or a bite to eat. The staff helps out with transportation for both medical and personal appointments, and provides move-in coordination and concierge services, plus there are peaceful gardens and walkways that make it a pretty pleasant place when the weather's nice. The facility, associated with Paracor, follows rules for nurse staffing and health inspections, and offers several levels of care, including help for people living with memory loss, while focusing on helping everyone keep their independence and dignity as much as possible, so even if the center itself isn't widely written about, it's one of the options for seniors needing skilled nursing or memory care in Oklahoma City.
