    Homey, immaculate care, highly recommended

I placed my mom here and we're thrilled - a beautiful, family-owned Tulsa facility with a homey, immaculate feel and staff who truly treat residents like family. The activities are lively, the food and apartments are excellent, and leadership/owners are hands-on and responsive (staff go above and beyond). They kept residents safe and engaged during COVID; I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The review corpus for The Parke Assisted Living is overwhelmingly positive, with a strong and recurring emphasis on compassionate staff, high-quality dining, active programming, and a clean, home-like environment. The majority of reviewers praise the staff as the facility’s defining strength — described repeatedly as caring, attentive, family-like, and willing to go above and beyond. Multiple reviewers named specific employees (activities directors and administrators) as standout contributors, reinforcing a perception of personal attention and continuity of care for many residents.

Care quality and staffing: Reviews indicate a generally high level of hands-on care and emotional support. Families report that nurses, medication aides and the care team are responsive and maintain good communication with relatives. Staff are often described as treating residents like family, providing 24/7 attentiveness in many cases, and giving individualized attention (meals brought to apartments when needed, regular check-ins, progress discussions with families). Several reviewers noted long-tenured employees and local ownership, which reviewers connected to stability, servant-hearted leadership, and a family atmosphere. That said, there are isolated comments about limited visible staff presence at times, some less-professional employees, and occasional perceptions of staff being overworked; these appear infrequent relative to the volume of praise but are important caveats.

Activities, social life and engagement: One of the most consistent strengths is the activities program. Multiple reviewers highlight an energetic, creative, and resident-engaging activities director who runs a packed calendar: arts/crafts, bingo, sing-alongs, book groups, movie nights, outings to malls, parks, plays, weekly grocery trips, and special events such as holiday parties and outdoor performances. Residents are described as joyful, engaged and often actively contributing (story readings, choir/choir participation). The small community size is repeatedly framed as a positive — fostering quick friendships, easy navigation, and more personalized programming.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a major positive theme. Reviews consistently mention excellent food, varied menus (including vegetarian-friendly choices), a chef and dining staff that remember resident preferences, and meals prepared with senior health in mind. Several reviewers said meal planning is thoughtful and flexible, and that the dining room and service are warm and homey. A minority of comments raised issues about take-home meals and pandemic-era dining restrictions, and one or two reviews flagged a dirty food service area as an isolated concern.

Facilities, apartments and amenities: The Parke is described as a clean, well-kept, and attractively decorated property with pleasant grounds and courtyards. Apartment sizes mentioned range (examples: 375–400 sq ft; larger 700 sq ft units exist), with generous notes about in-apartment kitchens, walk-in showers, and courtyard access for many units. Amenities commonly cited include housekeeping and linen service, laundry and folding, on-site beauty parlor, a chapel with minister visits, on-site OT/PT, and free transportation for appointments and outings. The gated campus and on-site security contribute to a sense of safety and independence.

Management and operations: Many reviewers praise administration for responsiveness, proactive problem solving, and personal involvement (open-door management, executive director going above and beyond). Several reviews point to improvements over time — food, staffing, and transportation reportedly improved following earlier struggles. Admissions and front-desk personnel are frequently complimented for diligence and helpfulness. However, some reviewers recounted an earlier period of instability with ownership or director changes; a few described pandemic communication and visitation handling as mismanaged, which had mental-health impacts for residents and families.

Negative patterns and specific concerns: While negatives are relatively infrequent, they are notable. Cost is a recurring concern—reviewers flagged the community as pricey, with some bundled extras that are expensive and non-adjustable (e.g., an extra monthly laundry fee). Accessibility issues were raised by a minority: narrow doorways, long hallways, or particular units that are smaller and poorly lit. A few reviewers reported serious isolated cleanliness incidents (reports of bed bugs and urine in rooms) and a complaint about dirty carpeting in laundry areas—these appear rare but are serious when reported. Pandemic-era issues produced mixed experiences: some reviewers felt the facility was safe and kept residents active, while others reported outbreaks, visitation restrictions and perceived mismanagement. A few commenters also wanted clearer or more visible nursing presence and noted that some activities were cancelled at times.

Net impression and recommendations: Taken together, reviews portray The Parke Assisted Living as a small, well-appointed assisted living community with exceptional staff, excellent dining, robust activities, and a strong sense of community. The positive reports about individualized care, engaged activities directors, and consistent cleanliness are dominant. Prospective residents and families should be aware of potential trade-offs: cost and extra fees can be higher than some competitors; accessibility and layout vary by unit; and although problems (cleanliness incidents, staffing strain, pandemic handling) are reported only occasionally, they merit direct inquiry during tours. Suggested due-diligence items for interested families include: confirming current staffing ratios and nursing visibility for the desired care level, asking about recent infection-control and housekeeping protocols, clarifying all fees and bundled services, touring specific floor plans to check lighting/door widths, and speaking with current residents or families about both daily life and how the facility handled recent COVID-era restrictions. Overall, the dominant pattern across reviews is strong praise with a few isolated but actionable concerns.
