    About Wynwood House

Wynwood House provides personal care for seniors with many services and several locations in State College (toftrees), Green Hills (park forest), Nittany Valley (Boalsburg), Penns Valley (Centre Hall), and Salem Hill (Spring Mills), with a total capacity for up to 215 residents and five well-kept buildings. Residents can choose from studio-private, studio-private with shared bath, semi-private, or shared rooms, all furnished and featuring new carpet, fresh paint, television, and comfortable furniture, set up for convenience and safety, and rooms can accommodate different needs, including non-ambulatory care. The community has dining rooms with all-day, restaurant-style dining, where meal preparation includes three homemade daily meals and accommodations for diets like diabetes or allergies, and residents can request diet changes as needed. Staff are always around to help with bathing, dressing, medication, grooming, toileting, getting to appointments, and offer 24-hour call and emergency alert systems, while nurses and med techs provide health monitoring and medication management.

The grounds are landscaped, with grassy outdoor spaces, safe walking paths, garden areas, and patios for relaxation or exercise, and there are spaces inside for activities, books, fitness, art, movies, and a game area. Weekly housekeeping, laundry, linen changes, and bed-time help come with living there, and maintenance staff keep the buildings neat, safe, and comfortable. Residents get access to telephone, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and security around the clock. Programs run daily and include bingo, crafts, games, group fitness, music therapy, animal visits, chair exercise, and community evening events, and there's a great room for socializing, as well as organized movie nights and community events. Extras like a mobile hairdresser or barber, a sauna, a jacuzzi, and escorts for errands or appointments are available, and families can request guest meals or extra transportation for a fee. There are options for assisted living, independent living, memory care for dementia or cognitive impairment, respite care, home care, hospice care, and care homes, so residents can get the help they need, and the staff, described as kind and joyful, give attention to both physical and mental health, running various programs to keep residents active and connected.

Wynwood House facilities support health and well-being through HRSA-Supported Health Centers, state and federal programs such as the Affordable Care Act, and behavioral health resources, which include recovery, suicide prevention, and opioid resources, and there's access to a health library and interactive tools like a symptom checker. The community supports people after prison release, and they help residents get to medical appointments, stores, or faith-based activities with scheduled transportation. Volunteers, after a background check, often help plan or lead activities, provide company, or assist with special events, and the place welcomes social visits and tours so newcomers can see daily life themselves. Meals are nutritious and focus on vitamins and minerals, planned by chefs, and snacks are also provided.

Residents keep their independence with personal care, health monitoring, and social activities, so they can maintain a good quality of life, and the staff aim to give a friendly, helpful, and supportive environment. The buildings are modern, accessible, clean, and inviting, and offer a homey feeling rather than a busy institution. The Activities Director, Cory Geishauser, organizes much of the engagement, and residents can always find something to do, whether it's arts, games, or just spending time in the gardens. Pricing depends on room type, services, and care needs, and facilities are checked twice a year for licensing compliance. Volunteers, residents, and families help foster a welcoming, dignified, and safe space for seniors who need care at different levels.
