Menno Haven-Penn Hall stands as a non-profit senior living community in historic Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, offering a wide range of care for older adults with 60 units and 58 beds, and the place really does provide a little bit of everything for seniors who want independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, or even respite and hospice care, and it's the kind of place where you'll find both private and semi-private rooms set in new, modern and very clean buildings, all licensed by the State of Pennsylvania and carrying a full five-star Medicare rating for safety, staffing, and quality measures, where residents can enjoy well-balanced and tasty meals, healthy snacks, and specially arranged daily activities from arts and crafts to group games, music therapy, pet therapy, and off-site outings, and there are regular wellness and health programs, spiritual activities, daily exercise classes, and resourceful programs to help with everything from dementia support to diabetes monitoring, even including help moving from bed to wheelchair when needed, and since staff are present 24 hours a day, there's always peace of mind in case of emergencies, including when it comes to medication support, therapy needs like speech, occupational, and physical therapy, or lab services such as mammograms or blood tests, all right there on site with things like a beautician, high-speed internet, garden spaces, a cafe and convenience store, and a reading room, plus pools, jacuzzi, and fitness areas, which means people get the benefits of socializing indoors in common rooms or just relaxing outdoors, and meals are always included so nobody needs to worry about the cost or effort of cooking, while laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, and local transportation are also offered, and there's a strong focus on keeping things clean and supporting every resident's well-being and independence as time goes by, so families can count on outreach, education, tours, and even cost tools like an affordability calculator to help with planning, and it's all under the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors grounded in Christian principles, celebrating over 50 years of care, so people can access integrated senior communities, enjoy the "My Haven" publication, connect with others through the resident portal, and choose among deluxe apartments, villas, cottages, and varied care options, with everything designed to help residents thrive as they age with dignity, support, and plenty of ways to spend the day doing what they enjoy.

Clean hotel-like living with caveats
I lived here and found it clean, hotel-like and homey - wonderful meals, daily activities, nice one-bed apartments with kitchenettes, beautiful grounds, on-site amenities and convenient shuttles. Staff were mostly friendly, attentive and respectful of independence, with seamless care progression into assisted living or nursing and excellent hospice/end-of-life support. That said, I did notice occasional short-staffing, favoritism and a few serious care lapses, so I'd recommend touring, asking about staffing and recent incidents before deciding.
