    Spacious well-appointed caring retirement community

I moved into a one-bedroom deluxe at Masonic Village at Dallas and love it - spacious, well-appointed, maintenance-free living with beautiful, peaceful grounds. The staff and leadership are professional, responsive and genuinely caring; maintenance issues and appliance replacements are handled quickly. The clubhouse restaurant/gallery of activities offers good food (meals were delivered during COVID) plus abundant fitness, social and cultural programs - even classes with nearby Misericordia University. I feel safe, at home, and appreciate the nonprofit structure and agreeable financial arrangement despite slightly higher fees. I highly recommend this well-run, friendly community for active, low-maintenance retirement living.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive: residents consistently praise the Masonic Village at Dallas for its combination of attractive housing, responsive staff, active programming, and maintenance-free campus living. The community is repeatedly described as well-maintained, clean, and beautiful — both in individual residences (villas and apartments) and in shared common areas. Many reviewers describe feeling at home, safe, and well cared for, often highlighting the scenic location and easy access to shopping, hospitals, and cultural activities nearby.

Staff and management receive especially high marks across multiple comments. Administration is characterized as helpful, informative, and communicative; managers and administrative assistants are described as patient and thorough during move-in and onboarding. Maintenance teams are repeatedly noted for prompt, cheerful, and effective responses — from appliance replacement to snow removal and lawn care — contributing significantly to residents’ perception of a worry-free lifestyle. Reviewers use words such as dedicated, empathetic, professional, and attentive when describing the workforce, and many single out the staff as a core reason for satisfaction.

Care quality and resident support are reflected in both formal and informal services. The community’s nonprofit model, connections with nearby nursing homes and Misericordia University, and financial protections (including return or safeguards around entrance fees and provisions for residents with depleted funds) provide reassurance about long-term care and continuity. During the COVID-19 period, reviewers noted proactive communication, meal delivery, daily reports, and other pandemic-era supports that helped residents feel safe and informed. Several reviews call out the philosophy of friend-to-friend and the family-like atmosphere, suggesting strong peer support among residents.

Facilities and amenities are broad and varied. Residents report a choice between stand-alone villas and apartment living, with many appreciating the absence of home maintenance tasks. Onsite amenities frequently mentioned include a clubhouse/restaurant, golf access and practice areas, a pool (with membership), library, arts and crafts rooms, and exercise/fitness rooms. The exercise and wellness programming is highlighted for tangible benefits — including improvements in health and mobility — with a range of classes offered free in some buildings. Residents also appreciate cultural access through nearby university productions and events.

Dining is generally seen as an asset — with clubhouse meals, daily menus and meal delivery during COVID receiving positive mentions — but cost is a recurring caveat. Several reviewers feel clubhouse or restaurant meals can be more expensive than other retirement communities, even while praising quality and convenience. This cost concern links to a broader nuance in the financial theme: while many residents describe monthly fees as reasonable and value the nonprofit benefits and return of entrance fees, a few note that the overall cost is higher than some alternative options, though they tend to concede that the higher cost brings more services and stronger support.

Activities and social life are widely praised: residents report abundant social opportunities, travel flexibility, trips, arts and crafts, and diverse clubs. That said, a small number of comments suggest that the community’s smaller size means fewer on-site activity options for some tastes — a contrast to larger campuses — but most reviews counterbalance this by reporting many on-campus activities and easy access to the surrounding area for additional options.

Minor physical or lifestyle drawbacks mentioned by reviewers are limited but consistent: some apartment kitchens are described as small, and a few people emphasize higher meal or overall living costs compared with other communities. Otherwise, criticisms are scarce. The most common themes are overwhelmingly positive: excellent staff and management, well-maintained and attractive housing, robust wellness and social programs, strong pandemic-era responsiveness, and a secure, campus-like environment with meaningful connections to nearby cultural and educational resources.

In summary, Masonic Village at Dallas is portrayed as a first-rate retirement community that balances high-quality care and services with an appealing physical environment and attentive staff. It particularly suits those who value maintenance-free living, strong on-site support, active wellness programming, and access to cultural and educational opportunities. Prospective residents who are especially cost-sensitive or who require larger in-unit kitchen spaces may want to compare meal pricing and apartment layouts, but for many reviewers the higher cost is justified by the level of care, community atmosphere, and comprehensive services offered.
