    Exceptional staff, infrastructure problems noted

I've lived here a little over three years - the staff are exceptional, respectful, and feel like family; the place is immaculate, homey, and safe. Daily activities (exercise, singing, bingo, painting, bus outings) keep people engaged, and dining is restaurant-like with tasty food and dietary accommodations though menu choices can be limited. My main concerns are ongoing infrastructure issues (no hot water at times, months-long heat/AC problems) and room limitations - many units lack walk-in showers and higher-level care means moving floors. Overall I recommend this affordable, caring community for assisted living, but be aware of the shower/hot-water and higher-care limitations.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews is strongly positive about caregiving and the day-to-day resident experience, with repeated praise for staff, cleanliness, and the family-like atmosphere. Many reviewers emphasize that staff are attentive, respectful, and experienced; several comments call out exceptional or amazing staff and note administrators who are knowledgeable and caring. The community is frequently described as comfortable, safe, and loving, with residents and families expressing gratitude and recommending the facility for quality care at an affordable cost.

Meals and dining are another clear strength. Multiple reviewers describe the food as excellent or delicious and note that dietary accommodations are provided when needed. The dining area is repeatedly characterized as pleasant and restaurant-like, with friendly dining staff contributing to a homey, non-hospital feel. That said, there are a few notes about limited menu options and instances of dining exclusion or residents feeling isolated at mealtimes, indicating that while food quality is high, variety and social dining dynamics may vary.

Activities and resident engagement are frequently mentioned in positive terms: the community offers a range of activities such as Bingo, exercise classes, singing, painting, games, birthday parties, and organized bus outings. Reviewers report that activities are regular and that staff make efforts to keep residents involved. Some reviewers did observe that on certain visits (for example a Saturday visit) residents appeared quiet or not especially outgoing, suggesting variability in atmosphere depending on timing or day.

Facility and room quality are generally seen as attractive and well-maintained. Descriptions include updated accommodations in parts of the building, pleasant hallways, outdoor seating and country-style grounds, and apartments that are clean, well-lit, and well-kept. Daily room cleaning and an overall fresh, immaculate smell were noted by multiple reviewers. There are, however, recurring concerns about physical plant maintenance: several reviewers reported months-long heating/air conditioning problems and more serious water issues including lack of hot water for showers and at least one account of residents receiving baths in sinks. These infrastructure problems appear significant enough that at least one family considered relocating their relative.

Accessibility and care-level logistics are notable areas of concern. Multiple reviews point out that many rooms lack walk-in showers or have only minimal bathroom fixtures (some rooms reportedly have only a sink and toilet), and bathtubs generally are not walk-in. Additionally, the community seems to require residents to move to a different floor to access higher levels of care, which can be disruptive and is seen as a drawback by some families. The Alzheimer's care model includes a secured building with coded entry; while this provides safety, some reviewers expressed a dislike for the Alzheimer's unit being separate from the rest of the community.

Other practical considerations that appear repeatedly are location and access. Several reviewers mention that the facility is a long drive, with hilly roads that can be difficult in winter, which may affect visitation and mobility for families. Privacy concerns were mentioned in passing by some reviewers, though not described in detail. Overall, the pattern across reviews is one of strong satisfaction with staff, care, cleanliness, food, and activities, tempered by concrete concerns about building maintenance (HVAC and hot water), bathroom accessibility, potential need to relocate for higher care, occasional menu limitation or dining isolation, and logistical challenges related to location and separate Alzheimer's housing.

Recommendation summary: For families prioritizing compassionate, resident-focused care, a home-like environment, excellent food, and robust activities at an affordable price, Fritzingertown Senior Living Community appears to be a solid choice based on these reviews. Prospective residents and families should, however, explicitly verify the current status of facility maintenance (heating/air, hot water), confirm bathroom accessibility options and the availability of walk-in showers, and understand the community's policy for transitions to higher levels of care. Also consider timing of visits to assess activity levels and dining atmosphere, and factor in travel distance and winter driving conditions when evaluating suitability.
