    Caring staff and thriving community

I moved my mom to Richland Woods and have been extremely pleased - the staff are caring, attentive and truly supportive (they even helped us through Dad's illness and passing and eased Mom's transition). The nursing and medical team are knowledgeable and responsive, communication is excellent, and the facility is spotless with beautifully maintained grounds and a homey, cheerful atmosphere. Mom is thriving - she's made friends, loves the varied activities, outings and life-engagement programming, and the meals are tasty with good portions. I have peace of mind from the secure, professional environment and would highly recommend this community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews of Richland Woods by New Perspective is strongly positive, with overwhelming praise for the quality of care, the engagement opportunities, and the cleanliness and appearance of the facility. Multiple families report that their loved ones are "thriving," have made friends, and are living active, socially engaged lives. Praise is repeatedly directed toward nursing staff and administrative personnel who are described as caring, professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. Reviewers highlight strong clinical oversight (including specific positive mentions of a head nurse), clear medication management, and proactive advice and follow-up from medical staff. Many families noted that residents were able to age in place with hospice support when needed, with one reviewer specifically reporting a peaceful, in-place passing.

Staff and care quality are the most frequently cited strengths. Reviews emphasize personalized, adaptive care — staff are credited with effective behavior management for residents with dementia and with going "above and beyond" during illness, transitions, and end-of-life care. Families appreciate 24/7 staff presence and prompt communication; staff commonly know residents (and often family members) by name. Several comments single out life engagement personnel and activity coordinators as "amazing," and note a mix of on-site performances, crafts, exercise classes, holiday celebrations, and outings that keep residents active and entertained. Transportation to appointments and organized field trips are repeatedly mentioned as meaningful lifestyle benefits.

Facility, grounds, and dining receive consistent praise. The building, apartments, and outdoor areas are described as beautifully maintained, bright, modern, and exceptionally clean. Housekeeping and groundskeeping are frequently singled out. Dining is often characterized as "restaurant-quality" with good portions and tasty meals; many reviewers also appreciate menu choices and a la carte options. A few reviewers, however, noted limited meal options in some instances — an occasional point of dissatisfaction amid otherwise positive dining feedback.

Administration, move-in experience, and family communication are strengths noted by many reviewers. Families report that administration is welcoming, approachable, and supportive during difficult times and transitions. Positive examples include staff helping residents become involved in activities, addressing pharmacy scheduling issues, and providing clear updates and full medical histories during transitions. The general atmosphere is described as home-like or even "Marriott-like," offering residents and families peace of mind.

Despite the strong positive themes, there are serious and recurring concerns that prospective families should investigate further. A small but alarming set of reviews alleges theft of personal items by staff, missing heirlooms, and security lapses because some staff have keys to residents' apartments; one reviewer said no action was taken after reporting theft. There are also isolated, strong negative reports alleging abuse or being "kicked out" and language that staff "cannot be trusted." These negative reports are in the minority compared with the overall positive volume, but they are significant because they touch on resident safety and trust in staff. Prospective families should ask the community about measures to prevent and investigate theft, staff vetting and supervision, key/access policies, incident reporting procedures, and any recent corrective actions taken by management.

Memory care is mixed as a theme: multiple reviewers note there is no separate memory care unit and that residents with dementia are integrated into the broader community. Some families praise the adaptive care approach and effective behavior management within that integrated model, while others may view lack of a dedicated memory unit as a potential drawback depending on the level of specialized care needed. If a loved one has progressive memory care needs, families should clarify how individualized dementia care is delivered, staff training in dementia care, and whether there are quiet or protected areas for residents who need reduced stimulation.

In summary, the dominant narrative across reviews positions Richland Woods as a well-run, clean, and socially engaging senior living community with strong clinical leadership, compassionate staff, and high family satisfaction. Dining, activities, grounds, and administrative responsiveness are frequently praised. At the same time, a minority of reviewers raise very serious issues around theft, security, and isolated poor care allegations. Those concerns notwithstanding, the prevailing pattern is one of high-quality care and a positive resident experience — but they point to the practical recommendation that prospective residents and families conduct specific due diligence: ask about security policies, inventory and valuables procedures, incident reporting and resolution, dementia-care protocols, and staff hiring/supervision practices to ensure the community’s strengths align with their loved one’s needs and to address any safety questions directly with management.
