    Declining care and accessibility issues

I lived at Forward Shady and loved the early years - nice apartments, friendly seniors, and a convenient bus/shopping location with attentive staff like Dave, Jodie, Justin, and Wayne. Over the last two years it's gone downhill: constant staff turnover, short/curt caregivers, and apartments that aren't ADA-compliant or disability-friendly. I'm planning to move elsewhere.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed: multiple reviewers praise Forward Shady Apartments for its convenient location, friendly resident community, and the perks that made it a pleasant senior living option in its earlier years, while a recurring set of concerns points to staff instability, declining service quality, and accessibility shortcomings. Several reviews explicitly call the community a "great place to live" and highlight a positive living environment and many perks, but others emphasize that the situation has "gone downhill," particularly over the last two years.

Staff and care quality emerge as a central and mixed theme. Early comments describe attentive, professional staff and name individual employees (Dave, Jodie, Justin, Wayne) whom residents or visitors appreciated. Those positive impressions, however, coexist with more recent complaints about frequent staff changes and staff being short with residents. Multiple reviewers say staff have left, that turnover has been high, and that some remaining staff are less accommodating or curt. This pattern has led at least one reviewer to plan a move away from the community and to describe the last two years as "horrible," indicating a measurable decline in perceived care and service consistency.

Facility and accessibility issues are another clear theme. Several reviewers explicitly state that the apartments are not ADA compliant and that the community is not accommodating for disabilities. These are concrete, specific concerns that affect residents who need mobility or accessibility accommodations. While the property is praised for location-based conveniences, shortcomings in physical accessibility are a significant downside for a senior living population and contrast with the otherwise positive statements about community life.

Location, community, and perks are the strongest positive threads. Forward Shady is repeatedly noted as being conveniently located for shopping and dining and situated on a bus line, which supports independence and easy access to local amenities. Reviewers also emphasize a friendly resident population — "sweet seniors," "friendly residents" — and describe a positive atmosphere among tenants. Several mentions of "many perks" and a "positive living environment" signal that programming, amenities, or social aspects were attractive features, even if those items are not detailed in the summaries provided.

Management and trends: the reviews show a notable pattern of decline over time. Multiple summaries contrast "great early years" with "horrible last 2 years," and call out staff departures and diminished responsiveness. That pattern suggests issues with retention, supervision, or resourcing at the management level. While individual staff received praise, the repeated mention of turnover and a downward trend in quality are the most significant negatives and the most repeatedly cited reasons for resident dissatisfaction or relocation planning.

In sum, Forward Shady Apartments appears to have strong location advantages, a congenial resident community, and a history of good service that many residents appreciated. However, recent patterns of staff turnover, decreased attentiveness, and definite accessibility shortcomings (non-ADA-compliant apartments and poor accommodation for disabilities) have eroded confidence for some residents and visitors. Prospective residents who value location, community, and on-site perks may find the property appealing, but those who require reliable staffing, consistent care, or accessible apartment design should investigate current staffing stability, specific accessibility features, and recent management changes before committing.
