    Went downhill: thefts, heat, harassment

I lived here and it went downhill fast. Hand rails weren’t cleaned, heat in my apartment was unreliable, and thefts were a real problem; staff routinely knocked then entered (and doors were opened without my permission). Maintenance yelled at me and berated me over a stove replacement, and management now charges for everything — I wouldn’t recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews is strongly negative with only a faint, infrequent note that the place is "OK." Multiple reviewers describe Keystone Manor as having declined and express serious concerns about cleanliness, security, staff behavior, and management practices. The dominant impression is of a facility that has increasingly problematic operations and strained resident relationships.

Care quality and resident safety: The reviews raise significant safety and care-quality concerns. Lack of routine cleaning is specifically called out (for example, hand rails on floors not being cleaned), which creates hygiene risks in a communal living environment. There are also reports of theft problems, which point to inadequate security measures and poor control over resident belongings or common areas. Heat control issues in apartments were mentioned, indicating that environmental controls and maintenance of basic apartment systems may be unreliable, which can affect comfort and health, especially for more vulnerable residents.

Staff behavior and interpersonal concerns: Multiple comments highlight problematic staff conduct. Incidents described include staff or maintenance entering apartments without proper authorization, staff knocking and then entering (or entering without permission), and a maintenance worker yelling at a resident. One reviewer specifically notes a resident being berated for replacing a stove, which suggests punitive or disrespectful interactions when residents attempt to address their own needs. These anecdotes collectively indicate a pattern of poor communication, insufficient respect for resident privacy and dignity, and potentially hostile or unprofessional staff-resident interactions.

Facilities and maintenance: Beyond cleanliness and temperature control, the reviews reflect broader maintenance and facilities shortcomings. The cited lack of cleaning of high-touch surfaces (hand rails) suggests lapses in routine housekeeping or infection-control protocols. Heat control problems imply either aging equipment, slow response to maintenance requests, or insufficient preventive upkeep. The combination of these facility-related complaints contributes to an impression that upkeep is not being handled consistently or thoroughly.

Management, policies, and finances: Reviewers express dissatisfaction with management, describing it as poor and reporting that the facility is "going downhill." There is mention of the facility "now charging for everything," which signals either recent policy changes toward fee-for-service or perceived nickel-and-diming that frustrates residents and family members. Coupled with alleged security lapses, cleanliness issues, and staff misconduct, the perception is that management is not effectively addressing core operational problems and may be shifting costs onto residents without improving quality.

Dining, activities, and social programming: The supplied reviews do not offer specific information about dining services, activities, or social programming. Absence of comments in these areas means there is insufficient evidence to evaluate recreational or meal quality; however, given the strong negative focus on safety, cleanliness, and staff behavior, any unmentioned amenities should be treated cautiously and verified separately.

Patterns, severity, and recommendations: The reviews consistently raise themes of privacy violations, safety/security lapses, poor cleanliness, unacceptable staff behavior, maintenance shortcomings, and problematic management decisions (including added charges). These issues are interrelated: poor management appears to manifest in lax cleaning and maintenance, inadequate security, and staff misconduct. For prospective residents or family members, these patterns suggest the need for direct investigation: ask management about housekeeping schedules and infection control policies, request records of security incidents and theft prevention measures, inspect apartment climate-control systems, inquire about staff training and grievance procedures, and obtain a clear, written explanation of fees and recent charging policy changes. Current residents should be encouraged to document incidents formally and escalate concerns to oversight bodies or family contacts if internal resolution is ineffective.

In summary, while a minor comment calls the facility "OK," the weight of the reviews paints a picture of declining conditions and multiple operational failures at Keystone Manor. The most serious and repeated issues are cleanliness/hygiene lapses, security/theft concerns, unauthorized apartment entries and disrespectful staff behavior, unreliable temperature control, and an overall sense of poor, possibly deteriorating management. These raise substantive red flags that warrant careful, specific follow-up before choosing or continuing residence there.
