    Warm staff clean home, pricey

I moved my mom here and overall I'm happy: the staff are warm, attentive and professional, the building is bright, extremely clean and home-like with secure grounds, sunrooms, two dining rooms, walking trails and lots of activities. Meals are varied and generally healthy, memory-care expertise gave our family peace of mind, and management is responsive when problems arise. Be aware it's on the pricey side, can be short-staffed at times (occasional communication or medication lapses), and wheelchair access is sometimes difficult - still, I would recommend touring and would refer friends/family with those caveats.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews of Meadowbrook Memory Care Community is mixed but leans positive, with a large number of reviewers praising staff, cleanliness, facility design, and memory-care programming. Many families describe Meadowbrook as bright, attractive, and home-like rather than hospital-like. Frequent positive themes include caring and professional caregivers and nurses, modern and well-maintained common spaces (two dining rooms, sun rooms, TV rooms, display cases), secure outdoor spaces and walking trails, and engaging off-site outings such as scenic drives and restaurant trips. Multiple reviewers specifically credit the staff and Activity Director with improving residents’ mood, engagement, and functional outcomes. Numerous comments highlight peace of mind for families, a family-like atmosphere, and detailed touches (flowers on holidays, photographs of activities, supportive reception staff) that reinforce a welcoming environment. The facility’s design and security features, including room sensors and nurses’ stations, are frequently noted as strengths, as are respite-stay experiences that went smoothly for some families.

However, there is a consistent and significant pattern of operational concerns that temper many of the positive reports. The most recurring negative theme is staffing instability: reviewers mention being short-handed, high turnover, and variable caregiver attentiveness across shifts. Related to staffing are reports of medication management problems — from delayed medication distribution to running out of meds and, in an extreme example, incorrect medication administration. Communication gaps also appear repeatedly: families describe unreturned messages, poor updates about care, and inconsistent responses from corporate or management. Some reviewers recount a decline in care quality following management or staff changes, suggesting that resident experience may be sensitive to staffing stability and leadership continuity.

Dining and laundry are another area of mixed feedback. Multiple reviewers praise attractive meal presentation, varied menus, and hardworking kitchen staff — some even share positive anecdotes about special meals and resident enjoyment. At the same time, other families report poor food quality, shortages of essential items, trays left unattended, and inadequate meal monitoring that may have contributed to weight loss in a resident. Laundry and personal property concerns also surfaced several times, with mentions of lost clothing and occasional missing items. These contradictions indicate that dining, resident nutrition, and ancillary services are inconsistent and may depend on timing, staffing levels, or individual unit practices.

Facility features and design receive overall favorable comments: the building is described as new, bright, airy, and well-kept with wide hallways, large rooms, salon services, and multiple communal spaces. The memory-care specialization and supportive layout are repeatedly cited as appropriate for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Nevertheless, some reviewers raised concerns about room configurations (semi-private rooms, lack of separate baths) and a few found the environment too clinical or sales-driven during the admission process. Pricing and billing are also commonly noted: several families find Meadowbrook expensive or worry about add-on charges, while others praise transparent or all-inclusive billing.

Leadership and management reviews are mixed. Many reviewers commend responsive management who solve problems, a warm marketing person, and engaged administrators who provide oversight. Conversely, some families criticize management—saying directors stayed in offices instead of assisting on the floor, noting poor communication from corporate, reporting rushed contracts or sales pressure, and describing declines after leadership changes. A smaller number of reviews recount serious lapses in policy adherence (a COVID-guideline complaint) or allegations of theft, which are outliers but noteworthy because they affect trust.

In summary, Meadowbrook Memory Care Community earns strong praise for its caring staff (though experiences vary by person and time), cleanliness, memory-care-oriented design, secure campus, and quality programming and outings. However, recurring issues around staffing shortages and turnover, inconsistent medication management and dining service, communication lapses, and occasional operational problems (laundry, property concerns, and pricing transparency) create important caveats. The reviews suggest the community can deliver excellent, even transformative care when staffed and managed well, but prospective families should pay attention to current staffing levels, ask specific questions about medication handling and laundry/property safeguards, observe mealtimes and activities during a tour, and clarify contract and extra-charge details before committing.

    About Meadowbrook Memory Care Community

Meadowbrook Memory Care Community is a purpose-built, single-story community that serves people with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other memory loss conditions. The building itself is made to be safe and secure, with features to prevent wandering, like secured doors and alarms on windows and bracelets that ring if someone leaves, so residents with memory problems can stay safe. The community uses technology like motion sensors, pull cords, and window alarms that alert staff quickly if someone needs help or there's a safety concern. They accept people with challenging behaviors, including physical outbursts, exit-seeking, or those who wander, and have staff trained to handle major behavior issues.

Meadowbrook belongs to Koelsch Senior Communities, which has over 60 years of experience helping seniors. Residents receive care from a team of dedicated staff, including licensed nurses on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, along with support personnel who can help with daily tasks-such as bathing, grooming, toileting, transferring with lifts or assistance, and giving medications like insulin injections. The nurse works closely with families and visiting care providers, including a visiting dentist, podiatrist, nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist, to manage the needs of each resident and adjust care plans as needed. Staff are always awake and available, and they remind residents about activities and personal care.

The memory care area has its own building and is designed to reduce confusion, with wide hallways, shadow boxes, and open spaces. Living spaces include different room types, like suites, full tubs, and wheelchair accessible showers, so people can choose what fits best. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor amenities, with a club room, garden terraces, verandas, a salon and spa, private and restaurant-style dining rooms, and cozy common areas for group activities or quiet time. Families can bring dogs and cats to live with residents, making it feel more like home.

The community creates a home-like atmosphere through programs and special environments, aiming to reconnect residents to treasured memories. The Living Well program and brain fitness classes help people stay engaged, and other services include devotional activities, stretching sessions, and fun outings to cafes and shops. Staff use Humanitude® techniques to treat residents with dignity and respect, and residents have a personalized care plan that changes as needs increase, so they can stay in the same community as they age.

Meadowbrook Memory Care Community is committed to a safe, clean, and bright environment with no unpleasant odors, and they make sure the community feels welcoming with a warm southwestern-style look and peaceful interiors. Residents have access to Wi-Fi and the comforts of home, along with tools and programs designed to support well-being and a sense of purpose every day.
