    Small home with excellent care

I'm so glad we chose this small, home-like place - it's clean, safe and the staff (Sheila, Teresa, Morgan and team) are loving, attentive and truly treat residents like family. The food is the shining star - delicious, made from scratch and responsive to dietary needs - and activities are engaging. Management is responsive and personalized care is excellent thanks to a high staff-to-resident ratio and long-tenured caregivers. Only downsides: common spaces are cozy rather than spacious and there can be occasional staffing/availability hiccups, but overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with the majority of comments emphasizing warm, family-like care, excellent dining, and a small, home-style environment. Many reviewers highlight the caregiving team as a standout feature — staff are repeatedly described as caring, respectful, patient, and professional, with several notes that caregivers have long tenure and low turnover. This contributes to personalized attention and a high staff-to-resident ratio that reviewers associate with residents being well cared for, safe, and content. Cleanliness and a well-maintained facility are frequently mentioned, and COVID-19 precautions were reported to have been handled well.

Dining is a recurring strength in the feedback. Multiple reviewers praise meals made from scratch, healthy choices, and chefs who accommodate special diets and avoid processed options like canned vegetables. Food is often called the "shining star," and many families point to the quality and healthfulness of meals as a major positive influence on their loved ones' well-being. Activities and social programming are also noted positively: reviewers cite a robust activity calendar, engaging staff-run programs, and regular entertainment that supports social interaction and reduces institutional feeling.

The facility's small size is both an advantage and a limitation according to reviewers. The intimate, home-like atmosphere, tranquil outdoor spaces (notably a pleasant back deck), and convenient location between family members are frequently praised. However, several reviewers point out that common areas such as the living room and dining room are small, sometimes feeling cramped, and that room availability is limited. Some rooms have less desirable views (front door/parking lot), which may matter to prospective residents when touring the facility.

Despite the overwhelmingly positive themes, there are notable negative reports that warrant attention. A minority of reviews describe serious care lapses — issues with bathing, hygiene, and bed changes were specifically mentioned in at least one account, along with a report of a resident who was emotionally distressed and not participating in activities. These incidents contrast sharply with the many accounts of exceptional care and suggest some variability in experience. Several reviewers also raised concerns about understaffing and active recruitment, which could contribute to intermittent quality issues. Cost is generally described as reasonable or all-inclusive by many families, yet a few express concern about affordability and search for cheaper options.

Management and organizational consistency appear as another area of mixed feedback. Many reviewers commend responsive leadership and accessible directors, naming individuals who provide passionate, hands-on oversight. Conversely, a subset of reviews expresses distrust in management — citing perceptions of insincerity, abrupt changes under new ownership, and even unjust termination — indicating that leadership transitions or recent managerial changes have caused unease among some families and staff. This may explain some of the inconsistencies in reported care quality.

In summary, the dominant pattern is a small, clean, home-like assisted living with highly praised staff and outstanding, scratch-made dining that fosters a sense of family and community. Activities, safety, and personalized attention are also commonly cited strengths. Prospective residents and families should, however, be aware of the facility's limited physical space and room availability, and should ask about recent staffing levels, any care incidents, and how management handles transitions. The few reports of neglectful care and management concerns are important to investigate further during a tour or conversation with administration, but they appear to be exceptions amid a strong base of positive reviews.
