    Welcoming building, inconsistent medical care

I placed my dad here and have mixed feelings: the building is welcoming, apartments are large with walk-in showers, meals (soups often homemade), Wi-Fi/cable and three daily dining services are included, meds/BP checks and therapy are handled, and Director Anastasia, Cory and receptionist Taylor were exceptional and made moving in smooth. Many staff are warm, attentive and resident-focused, but care is inconsistent - admissions was poorly trained and the website/criteria were misleading, and there are troubling reports of missed/incorrect meds, neglect (falls/bed sores), unsanitary odors, smoking and high staff turnover. Overall it can be a caring, affordable option if you get the right staff and ask specific questions in person; I recommend touring, confirming med/staffing protocols, and watching for warning signs.

    About Simpson Place Assisted Living

Simpson Place Assisted Living stands out because it gives seniors with low or moderate incomes a safe and caring home, using government support like Social Security, Medicaid, and Section 8 to cover costs so people can focus on living instead of worrying about money, and there's a good range of options whether someone needs assisted living or skilled nursing or just somewhere for short-term rehab or respite care, and with large apartments that give some room to spread out, many of them private, with kitchenettes for those who like to do a bit of their own cooking, but also an in-house restaurant with meals made by a chef, and they handle special diets without a fuss because everyone's got something they can't eat these days, and families can come for guest meals now and then. The rooms come with Wi-Fi and cable TV, which helps people stay busy and in touch, and there's laundry, housekeeping, and security so that chores and safety don't weigh on anyone's mind, plus inviting courtyards, walking paths, a fitness area, a hair salon, a theater, lounges, and activity rooms for daily goings-on like games and gardening or crafts, and a gallery to enjoy. They organize events, religious services, singalongs, gardening, live shows, outings, and even day trips to keep spirits up, and for the practical side, residents get help with medication, transportation for shopping or appointments, and support for daily needs if needed, which is handy if someone gets a bit forgetful or needs a hand with things like washing. Outpatient therapy and rehabilitation are on site for those coming back from a hospital stay, and skilled nurses offer regular check-ins and medication administration. The place is led by a caring director named Anastasia, who's known for going the extra mile with both residents and staff, and Taylor Willis, who works at the front desk, is remembered for being especially helpful and friendly. The care is as personal as it gets but always professional, and there's always someone present, day or night, if a need comes up. Simpson Place Assisted Living doesn't put on airs; it's comfortable, clean, and built for people who want a bit of help, whether for a short spell or for the long haul.
