    Clean friendly staff good food

I toured this clean, well-cared-for home after my broken leg and picked it as my third choice. The owner and staff were warm, friendly and helpful, gave a thorough tour and served lunch - the food was very good. Residents looked like they have fun (bingo noted), though I didn't observe activities during my visit. The director is new and there was a one-time incident that was handled; it's in an unfamiliar area and farther from us.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the review summaries for Romberg House Assisted Living is generally positive with several consistent strengths, particularly around staff demeanor, cleanliness, dining, and an evident focus on resident engagement. Reviewers repeatedly describe the home as clean and well cared-for, with staff characterized as warm, friendly, and helpful. The presence of a caring owner is noted, and a tour was provided, indicating openness to prospective residents and their families.

Care quality and staff: Multiple summaries emphasize strong interpersonal qualities among staff — warm, friendly, and helpful — which suggests residents feel treated with kindness and attention. The reference to a caring owner reinforces a culture of personal involvement. These comments point toward a supportive day-to-day environment and attentive staffing. There is no broad pattern of complaints about neglect or poor care, though a single safety incident (a broken leg) is mentioned and should be considered in context rather than as evidence of systemic issues.

Facilities and cleanliness: The facility is described as clean and well cared-for, which is an important positive signal about maintenance and daily operations. The phrase “well cared-for home” recurs and aligns with the impression of a tidy, welcoming physical environment appropriate for assisted living.

Dining and activities: Dining is repeatedly praised — reviewers note the food as "very good." Activity programming is also cited as available and engaging, with specific mentions of bingo and events that encourage "fun with residents," plus volunteering lunches. These point to an active social calendar and opportunities for community engagement. However, one review notes that activities were not observed during the visit, which introduces some uncertainty about how consistently activities are offered or how visible they are to visitors at any given time.

Management and leadership: A recent change in leadership is mentioned (new director). That is a neutral factual point in the summaries but may be of interest to prospective residents and families because leadership transitions can affect operations, staff morale, and program continuity. The documented presence of a caring owner is a stabilizing factor, but the new director note suggests stakeholders may want to ask about the director's background and plans during any tour.

Safety and incidents: The only explicit negative safety-related comment is a single instance of a broken leg, described as a "one-time incident." There is no pattern of recurring safety problems in the summaries provided, but any facility with at least one reported injury merits follow-up questions about the circumstances, prevention measures, and how the facility communicates and responds to incidents.

Location and suitability: A clear drawback for some reviewers is the facility’s location — described as far away or in an unfamiliar area — which affected preference ranking (one reviewer listed it as a third choice). Location may be a practical barrier for families and friends who wish to visit frequently, so distance and neighborhood familiarity should be considered by prospective residents.

Conclusion: In sum, Romberg House Assisted Living receives positive marks for cleanliness, attentive and friendly staff, good food, and a range of activities that foster resident engagement. Notable considerations for prospective residents include verifying the consistency and visibility of activities, asking about the new director and any operational changes, following up on the single reported injury for context, and assessing whether the location suits the family’s visitation needs. Overall, the reviews portray a caring, well-maintained assisted living home with stronger strengths than weaknesses, while also indicating a few specific areas where further inquiry during a tour would be prudent.

    About Romberg House Assisted Living

Romberg House Assisted Living sits on two acres in a historic early 1900's cottage style home and serves up to sixteen residents in a small, close community, so people get to know each other, and there's a family atmosphere, which is nice because the staff are always around and friendly, taking time to know the residents and help them keep their independence, with both male and female residents welcome, and each person gets a private apartment, their own bathroom, and the chance to bring personal things to make it feel more like home. The place is set up to help folks who want to live their life as independently as possible but still need extra care, with services like assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, walking, and medication, and the staff stay ready 24 hours a day, so there's always someone nearby, including a nurse or a doctor on call for anything medical that pops up, with extra support from outside providers like podiatrists or therapists if needed.

People who move in can stay connected with family and friends because there's private phone and internet lines, cable TV in each room, and transportation arranged for doctor visits, shopping, or group outings using the community limousine, so nobody has to worry about how they're going to get around. Residents can keep their days full with a busy calendar that might include exercise classes like chair yoga, stretching, or ForeverFit, trips into the neighborhood for shopping or eating out, and activities right on site, with the staff also planning holiday parties, birthday celebrations, and even inter-generational programs to bring people of different ages together. Folks who need it can take part in memory care services, and the home's environment helps people living with Alzheimer's or dementia by working to reduce confusion and keep everyone safe.

Every week, visiting congregations offer ecumenical devotional services, meeting spiritual needs, and mealtimes include options for different diets-vegetarian, low-salt, and such-served up restaurant style, so eating is both nutritious and social, and residents can even join in meal planning if they want. Outdoor and indoor common areas let people gather or just enjoy some sunshine, and since pets like dogs and cats are welcome in private rooms, longtime companions can come along too. Housekeeping takes care of laundry, cleaning, and linens, and the team keeps things running smoothly so residents don't have to worry about the small chores that add up. The environment is no-smoking in all indoor spaces, and for people who need extra support, like hospice or respite care, staff are trained to handle it, paying attention to residents' health and well-being, while the layout includes wheelchair-accessible showers and parking for folks who still drive.

Established in 1994, Romberg House focuses on affordable and higher quality care for seniors who want a good balance of social life, supportive help, and the comfort of a home-like setting, and while there was no information available from the server at the last check, these are the main points people often mention when they talk about the community.
