    Rude staff, negligence, don't trust

I placed a loved one here and was appalled by rude, uncaring and sometimes insulting staff, poor communication, long transport waits, signs of negligence/theft, and a noisy, poorly maintained facility. A few caregivers and activities/food were decent, but I would not recommend this place - strong warning: don't trust them with your family.

    Summary review

Overall impression: Reviews for Mission Care Center are highly mixed and polarized. Several reviewers describe the facility as a very good place for some residents — noting active daily programming, friendly caregivers, a home-like atmosphere, clean rooms, and good food. In contrast, a number of strong negative reviews allege serious problems including poor professionalism, communication breakdowns, negligence, and theft. The aggregate picture is one of inconsistent performance with pronounced variability between reviewers' experiences.

Care quality: Positive comments emphasize attentive care, daily room cleaning, and an environment described by some as loving and family-like. These reviewers felt staff were responsive to concerns and provided good day-to-day support. However, multiple negative reviews counter these statements with allegations of inadequate care, negligence, and even theft. Some reviewers explicitly state they would not recommend the facility or would not place relatives there, indicating serious trust issues among detractors. This suggests that care quality may vary considerably depending on shifts, specific staff members, or individual resident circumstances.

Staff behavior and communication: Staff-related feedback is the most polarized theme. Supportive reviewers call staff friendly and attentive, while many others describe staff as inconsiderate, uncaring, rude, or unprofessional. One review names a staff member (Demita) as rude, and others report insulting language directed at a secretary and negative phone interactions. Communication problems are frequently cited: reviewers complain about the unavailability of information regarding residents' well-being, phone contact failures, and poor communication with guests and families. Several reviewers additionally assert that a large proportion of workers do not speak (or have limited English), with one reviewer estimating about 85% — a claim that, if accurate, could significantly impact effective care and family communication.

Facilities and cleanliness: Feedback on cleanliness and facility upkeep is contradictory. Some reviewers praise cleanliness, daily room cleaning, and an overall clean environment. Others describe a messy appearance, a need for repainting and maintenance, and poor cleanliness. These conflicting statements point toward variability in housekeeping or deferred maintenance in parts of the building, suggesting that aesthetic and hygiene standards may not be uniformly maintained throughout the facility or across time.

Activities and dining: One of the clearest strengths cited across positive reviews is the availability of daily activities and good food. These amenities contribute to a home-like atmosphere for some residents and are reasons why several reviewers recommend considering the facility. The repeated mention of daily activities and excellent dining indicates these are consistent selling points when the rest of the experience is satisfactory.

Management, transportation, and overall tone: Multiple reviewers accuse management of poor oversight, inadequate communication, and unprofessional responses. Specific operational concerns include long waits for transportation when a resident is ill and a general sense of disorganization. The varied descriptions of the environment range from "loving, family environment" to "loud" and even "ghetto," reflecting sharply different perceptions that again underline inconsistency. Several reviewers issued strong warnings against using the facility, while others urged giving it a chance — pointing to a broad spectrum of experiences.

Patterns and implications: The reviews suggest the facility may provide good programming (activities, food) and show compassionate care at times, but persistent and serious complaints about staff behavior, communication, and occasional negligence are recurring. The disparity among reviews could indicate staffing inconsistency, turnover, language barriers, or uneven management practices. For families evaluating Mission Care Center, the important patterns are strong positives around activities and some staff members' caring behavior, counterbalanced by serious negatives that include communication failures, professionalism concerns, and allegations of theft or negligence.

Bottom line: Mission Care Center elicits both strong recommendations and strong warnings. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's activity programming, dining, and positive staff reports against the documented communication problems, reports of unprofessional behavior, maintenance concerns, and more severe allegations. A careful, in-person assessment, direct questioning about staffing practices, communication protocols, incident reporting, and checking recent inspections or references would be prudent given the variability reflected in these reviews.
