    Friendly staff, excellent care, welcoming

I'm very pleased with my experience - the staff are friendly, professional and attentive, the facility is clean and modern, and therapy and wound care (Brenda, Priscilla and Jennifer) were excellent. Residents were happy and engaged, communication was consistent, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made my transition easy; I'd recommend it overall.

    Summary of reviews

Falcon Ridge presents as a modern, well-appointed skilled nursing and rehabilitation campus with many positive elements cited by families and residents. Strengths repeated across comments include a generally compassionate and attentive nursing team, a robust therapy department that supports recovery goals, and visible clinical leadership that many families find reassuring. The facility's physical environment is frequently described as clean, bright, and resort-like, with spacious semi-private rooms, multiple dining areas, large screens, and on-site amenities such as a salon, spa, and therapy gym.

Dining and activities are also clear strengths for many stays: several accounts praise chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals with varied menus and special-order options, and an energetic activities program that promotes resident engagement and social events. Rehabilitation services (PT/OT) receive consistent positive feedback for helping residents make progress toward discharge goals. In addition, families often note personalized care plans, case-management support, and a welcoming admissions experience.

At the same time, reviewers identify recurring operational challenges that produce variability in the resident experience. Staffing levels and staff consistency emerge as the primary concern: weekend and night coverage is described as lighter than weekdays, and caregiver performance and morale are sometimes uneven. Those staffing patterns are linked in multiple accounts to delayed call-light responses, slower assistance with eating or mobility, and perceived inconsistencies in basic care tasks. Related issues include gaps in medication-management processes and occasional documentation or coordination lapses among doctors, nurses, and family representatives.

Communication and administrative responsiveness are another mixed area. While some families report excellent, proactive updates and supportive administrators, others describe difficulty reaching the business office or nursing leadership, slow callbacks, and unresolved billing or payment disputes. Cleanliness and sanitation are generally viewed positively overall, but intermittent attention lapses are noted (for example, room-cleaning delays and minor sanitation or pest-control concerns in isolated areas). Meal quality is praised by many but described as inconsistent by others, with reports that some dishes are excellent while others are bland or cold.

Patterns to watch for when considering Falcon Ridge: inconsistent staffing at off-peak times that can affect responsiveness; variability in caregiver performance and frontline morale; and occasional breakdowns in communication, medication handling, and billing follow-through. There are also isolated, serious claims—including disputes over readmission or guardianship decisions and concerns following a wound-related infection—which some families characterized as exceptional; these were not universal but may warrant direct discussion with facility leadership and review of policies. Overall, the facility demonstrates many strengths in rehabilitation, amenities, and leadership presence while showing operational variability that prospective residents and families should explore during tours and intake conversations (for example, ask about weekend staffing levels, medication-safety protocols, communication processes, and billing resolution procedures).

    About Falcon Ridge Rehabilitation

Falcon Ridge Rehabilitation in Hutto, Texas, is a licensed senior living community that offers a wide range of care options, including memory care, assisted living, short-term rehab, long-term care, and respite services. The staff work in teams focused on the health, healing, and happiness of each resident, with both a nurse on site 24 hours and another part-time nurse to help manage daily care. Residents receive personal care, medication reminders, and skilled nursing, along with therapy programs that include physical, occupational, and speech therapy. There's a partnership with Reliant Rehabilitation for tailored, comprehensive rehab services and the facility hosts infusion care, pain management, palliative care, hospice care, and psychiatric support.

The building holds 140 certified beds and averages around 94 residents each day, so it's a fairly good size but not overwhelming, and there's an effort to create a friendly and comfortable place where staff laugh and joke with residents, and families see it as trustworthy. There's a mix of accommodation choices and rooms have WiFi, cable or satellite TV, and broadband connections, while common areas feature more entertainment spaces like a computer room and places for hobbies, recreation, games, and music. Residents can also visit the salon, join in arts and crafts or literary activities, or spend time in the garden, taking part in horticulture activities or simply enjoying the outdoors.

Meals are prepared in-house by culinary staff, with a registered dietician overseeing nutrition and special diets, and the dining options include communal lunches and guest meals, with room service available for those who want to eat privately. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen services take care of daily chores, keeping the facility bright and clean, and staff maintain a high standard of hygiene, although there have been recent nutrition and dietary deficiencies regarding food handling and garbage disposal, along with a deficiency in completing care plans, according to inspection reports.

For medical needs, there's medication management, pharmacy, X-ray, and lab services, and the facility works with nearby clinics, including North University Clinic & Express Care and several others. Veterans Affairs (VA) aid help is available on site, religious services are offered, and there are planned activities and facilitated outings for social engagement. Pets are allowed, transportation and guest parking are provided, and safety is enhanced with secure code entry, a gated perimeter, and the Wander Guard System for those who need extra attention.

The community stays focused on wellness through fitness programs and rehabilitation exercises, and there's an emphasis on developing care plans for each resident, aiming to support both short-term recovery and ongoing quality of life. Respite admissions are accepted around the clock, every day of the week, with recommended visiting hours from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. Staff work day and night and, while there's a relatively high nurse turnover of about 59.7%, they keep about 3.16 nurse hours per resident per day to help cover everyone's needs. The facility has been managed by Retama Manor Del Rio LLC since June 2019 and is affiliated with Fundamental Healthcare, following a mission to improve life quality and support resident wellness. The atmosphere is relaxed and cheerful, with sunlight throughout and many chances for residents to stay active and comfortable.
