Ashford Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation sits over on Shoaf Drive in Irving, Texas, and it's been part of the area for over 50 years, so you get a place that knows the needs of seniors pretty well. The facility runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a team of skilled nurses, certified nurse aides such as Brian Hatley, and a Rapid Recovery Center MDS Coordinator named Aubrey B., all working together to give folks both short-term rehab and longer nursing care when needed. People recovering from illness or injury can get physical, occupational, and speech therapy, while those needing more support, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's, have a 35-bed secure special needs unit and another secure unit for residents who may wander.
There's all sorts of help for daily needs-assistance with bathing, dressing, medication management, transfers, and other essentials-and nurses are available 12-16 hours a day with a full 24-hour call system if something comes up. Residents get meals in a restaurant-style dining room, including all-day dining and menus for specific health needs like diabetes or allergies, and there's an onsite dialysis suite, plus specialists for things like dental, eye, and hearing care, and psychiatric consultants for those who need mental health support. The place is smoke-free, accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and credit cards, and has 108 of 206 beds available as of June 2025, providing both private and semiprivate rooms, each set up for comfort with private bathrooms, cable TV, Wi-Fi, kitchenettes, telephones, and air conditioning.
The building itself has been recently updated, so there are fresh, open common areas, and the outdoor spaces are made for both relaxation and visiting with friends or family. There's an activity room, movie nights, arts and crafts, bingo, family nights, and other events like musical programs and religious services, plus spaces like an arts room, library, spa/wellness room, and walking paths, so there's always something going on. Residents have access to business rooms, fitness programs, and transportation with parking for visitors, and there are community councils for residents and family members to talk about concerns and look for ways to make improvements.
Ashford Hall is for-profit and privately held, not part of a continuing care retirement community, but does follow industry rules and is fully accredited for safety and support. Staff is there to help people move from hospital to home, and they work with outside hospice agencies for anyone who needs end-of-life care at the facility. Housekeeping, laundry, move-in help, and family support services are all part of what's offered to support daily living. The place is set up to help people who can no longer care for themselves, with skilled nursing, wound and respiratory care, memory support, and different therapies, all in a warm, home-like setting meant to help folks feel comfortable and cared for.
