    Great care, issues with management

I placed my dad for respite care and was very impressed by the compassionate, friendly and professional staff, high staff-to-resident ratio, immaculate, well-kept facility, home-cooked meals and generous portions - he settled in quickly and was happy. Unfortunately management became a problem: abrupt $1,000 price increase, visiting hours changed without notice, and I felt berated and pressured by the owner/staff, so we ultimately moved him. I'd recommend the caregiving and cleanliness, but proceed with caution about management and billing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across these review summaries is mixed but leans positive with at least one severe negative outlier. A plurality of reviewers describe Hampton Senior Living LLC as a compassionate, well-run, and home-like small facility with a high staff-to-resident ratio, attentive care, and an immaculate environment. Multiple reviewers praise the owner/management as responsive and willing to go above and beyond, and many note that residents settle in quickly and that short-term stays (respite care) can be successful.

Care quality and staff performance emerge as the strongest and most frequently praised themes. Reviews commonly use words like loving, compassionate, nice, kind, helpful, and professional to describe staff. Several summaries highlight individualized attention, excellent care, and attention to detail. The reported outcomes support these impressions in some cases — reviewers mention weight gain from adequate portions and that residents have been happy and settled. The staffing level is noted positively (high staff-to-resident ratio), which aligns with descriptions of hands-on care and small-group activities that contribute to a home-like atmosphere.

Facility, dining, and activities are also consistently commended. The facility is described repeatedly as clean, immaculate, well kept, and organized. Home-cooked meals and good portion sizes are specifically called out, and small group activities are mentioned as a positive element of daily life. Practical aspects such as adequate room storage and general tidiness are listed by reviewers, reinforcing the impression of a well-maintained, domestic-style setting rather than an institutional environment.

However, there is a starkly negative thread in one or more reviews that introduces serious concerns. That outlier describes mean staff, a hateful owner, family members treated as inconveniences, being berated during meetings, emotional manipulation, and fears of financial exploitation. That same cluster reports sudden, unexplained operational changes — for example, visiting hours changed without notice — and a sudden $1,000 price increase. These allegations are severe and contrast sharply with the many positive accounts. The presence of both strongly positive and strongly negative reports suggests variability in experiences that could be due to differences in staff on particular shifts, changes in management or policy over time, individual conflicts, or isolated incidents that escalated.

Patterns to note: (1) Most reviewers emphasize high-quality, compassionate care and a comfortable, clean environment with responsive management. (2) At least one review contains serious accusations about staff behavior and financial/communication practices that materially affect trust. (3) The juxtaposition of glowing and damning reports indicates inconsistency; while many families would highly recommend the facility, at least one would strongly advise against it and even moved their relative elsewhere. (4) Minor property and inventory issues (a missing chair and bedside table) were reported but appear isolated compared with broader themes of cleanliness and organization.

If using these reviews to assess Hampton Senior Living, the takeaways are: the facility appears to provide excellent day-to-day care, cleanliness, and a home-like environment for many families, with a management team that is responsive in numerous accounts. However, there are red flags that warrant follow-up: investigate the circumstances behind the reported hostile interactions, episodes of emotional manipulation, abrupt fee increases, and communication lapses regarding visiting hours. Prospective residents and families should ask the facility directly about recent policy or staff changes, fee history and notice procedures, grievance and dispute resolution processes, and inventory checks for personal belongings. The mixed nature of the feedback makes it important to visit in person, speak with multiple staff members, request references from current families, and get clear, written documentation of policies and costs before committing.

    About Hampton Senior Living LLC

Hampton Senior Living LLC sits at 1905 Hampton Lane in Round Rock, Texas, and opened in 2005 under the care of owner Nicole Funderburke, who manages a small, well-tended residential care home with just 12 beds, so you're going to see a lot more personal attention here than at bigger places, and you'll notice right away the elegant brick accents outside, the large sunny windows, and the mature trees and manicured yards that keep the property feeling quiet and home-like. Residents live in private or semi-private, fully furnished rooms, and the staff-to-resident ratio is 1 to 3, which helps them provide round-the-clock assistance with everything from daily routines, medication management, and meals to memory care and nursing services, and beyond that, residents get help with every kind of personal care, like bathing, dressing, and transfers. Meals are made fresh, with quality ingredients planned by chefs, and the focus stays on good, balanced nutrition, though it all comes together like home-cooked food. The caregivers here are trained to handle assisted living, memory care, nursing needs, and independent living, with customized care plans put together for each resident so everyone gets what they need, whether it's minimal help or more support. The place runs as both a licensed nursing home with DADS License #144387 and as an alternative to bigger institutional care, connecting also to Texas Health & Human Services Commission and SNAP, and offering short-term respite care to support families when their regular caregivers need a break. There are plenty of housekeeping and linen services, scheduled daily and small group activities to get people involved and keep minds active, and staff who coordinate healthcare and make sure to foster a welcoming, safe atmosphere where people can be engaged and live with some independence. Even with its excellent 5.0-star ratings, the home isn't accredited by the BBB, but people describe it as very well run, warm, and organized, with special attention provided by Nicole herself, so it feels less like an institution and more like a real home, where residents are encouraged to make their own choices as much as possible and are supported through each day by a consistent and friendly team.
