    Spotless building, caring staff, recommended

I chose this community for my loved one and I'm very happy with the decision - the brand-new, spotless building and lovely enclosed courtyard feel like home, meals are excellent, and residents stay active with games, painting and outings. The staff and leadership are warm, professional and genuinely caring (they go above and beyond, provide 24-hour assistance, memory care and on-site rehab), which gave our family real peace of mind. Minor downsides: higher price, occasional communication or short-staffing hiccups, but overall I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Volante Senior Living of Sage Spring are strongly weighted toward positive experiences, with consistent praise for the facility’s physical environment, the vibrancy of resident life, and many individual staff members and leaders who go above and beyond. The property is frequently described as a clean, new, one-story community with bright, open spaces, enclosed courtyards and gardens, and amenity-rich common areas (movie rooms, chapel, salon, rehab room). Many reviewers emphasize that the place feels like home or a resort, and repeatedly name staff members (for example Parker, Kathy, Porschee, Jennifer, and Lauren) as reasons they chose or feel comfortable with the community. Families report peace of mind, strong end-of-life care experiences, and appreciation for responsive maintenance and therapeutic services on-site.

Care quality and staff: A dominant theme is the compassion and engagement of direct-care staff, nurses, and support personnel. Multiple reviewers describe caregivers, medication technicians, dining attendants, and therapy staff as caring, attentive, and skilled. The community is credited with proactive family outreach, assigning ambassadors to help residents transition, and knowing residents well. These strengths are reflected across assisted living and memory care units: reviewers say residents are engaged, active, and happy. That said, there are clear counterpoints: some families reported rude or uncaring interactions with specific individuals in management or admission roles, and others felt certain teams were hard to reach. Staffing shortages — particularly on nights and weekends — were mentioned repeatedly and correspond with a few reports of missed or delayed attention in medical situations.

Facilities and amenities: The physical plant is a frequent highlight. Reviewers like the new construction, spacious floor plans, natural light, large closets in many units, single-floor layout for easy navigation, and attractive outdoor spaces. On-site amenities — restaurant-style dining rooms, salon, therapy/rehab room, movie rooms, chapel, wet bars, and frequent outings — contribute to a socially rich environment. Maintenance responsiveness and cleanliness are repeatedly praised; reviewers consistently describe pleasant smells and immaculate common areas. Some concerns exist around unit size for certain floor plans (single rooms, smaller closets), so prospective residents should confirm floor-plan measurements for their needs.

Dining and activities: Dining receives a lot of positive attention: many reviewers call the meals delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and highlight the kitchen staff and lead cooks. The restaurant-style dining experience and courtyard views of the dining room are mentioned as positives. A minority of reviews call the food poor or make specific complaints (too many fresh vegetables or a general dislike of some meals), showing some variability in personal taste. The activity program is widely praised — reviewers mention a broad calendar of daily and monthly activities, outings (grocery and restaurant trips), gardening clubs, live music, movies, and frequent engagement led by enthusiastic life-enrichment directors. This programming is a major selling point for families seeking active social lives for their loved ones.

Management, communication, and operations: Reviews reveal an uneven experience around management and communications. Several reviewers highlight strong, compassionate leadership and name executive directors positively. Conversely, others report management turnover, slow follow-up on concerns, confusing or opaque paperwork/scoring systems, and occasional miscommunication or 'ghosting' during admissions. Billing and administrative issues surface in multiple reviews (for example, being billed for medications after discharge with no reimbursement), and some families raised privacy concerns relating to personal information handling. There are also allegations that some positive reviews may have been posted by employees, which some readers flagged as a credibility issue. These operational inconsistencies suggest that while many families receive excellent service, processes for escalation, billing, and admissions may need greater transparency and reliability.

Safety, health, and negative incidents: A set of more serious concerns appeared in a minority of reviews. Reported ant infestations in resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas are a recurring negative and should be directly addressed with the community. A few reviews described safety issues — an aggressive resident incident and instances where families felt their loved ones were ignored or poorly handled. COVID-related issues were reported (some residents contracted COVID more than once), and some reviewers were concerned about training levels for dementia-specific care among newer staff. Allegations of rudeness or unprofessional behavior by specific staff and reports of understaffing contributing to delays in care were also noted.

Patterns and guidance for prospective families: The overall pattern is a community with excellent physical amenities, strong activity programming, and many deeply committed caregivers and leaders who create a warm, engaging environment. However, there is nontrivial variability in administrative responsiveness, staffing consistency, dementia-care training levels, and pest control. Prospective families should plan targeted questions and observations during a tour: ask about current staffing ratios (including night/weekend coverage), dementia-care training and turnover rates, pest-control protocols and recent remediation, billing and discharge billing policies, escalation contacts for unresolved concerns, and recent resident/family communications about COVID mitigation. It would also be valuable to request references from current family members and to ask to meet or speak with the named staff members who were praised (if they remain on staff).

Bottom line: Volante Senior Living of Sage Spring appears to offer a high-quality environment for many residents — particularly those who prioritize activities, dining, and an engaged social community — and it has numerous staff and leaders who receive enthusiastic praise. At the same time, documented concerns around pests, occasional unprofessional behavior, communication gaps, billing issues, and staffing consistency merit careful vetting. If you value the community’s amenities and positive staff reports, verify operational details and recent remediation steps for the negative items before making a placement decision.
