    Clean, caring, comfortable; staffing concerns.

I moved my mom here and overall I'm pleased: the place is very clean, bright and home-like, staff are caring, knowledgeable and dependable, and there are lots of engaging activities. Her private room and the social dining area are neat, medication/doctor communication is proactive, and I feel the value for the money is good. My concerns are staffing shortages and turnover, inconsistent food/kitchen service, and occasional management/communication and grounds/room layout issues. Despite that, my mom is happy and safe-worth a look.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Sodalis Temple are predominantly positive with a clear, recurring theme: the staff are the facility's strongest asset. Across dozens of reviews people emphasize compassionate, knowledgeable, and personable caregivers who go out of their way to help residents and families. Many reviewers explicitly describe the staff as family‑like, loving, and highly responsive. Multiple reviews name specific staff and leaders (executive director, nurses) and attribute improved resident well‑being and peace of mind to attentive, proactive staff. That emphasis on individualized attention and genuine caring creates a steady stream of strong recommendations and statements that moving to Sodalis was “the best decision.”

Care quality and clinical services: Several reviews highlight strong clinical supports: on‑site RNs, weekly physician visits, medication assistance and management, proactive doctor communication, and availability of PT/OT. Med‑techs and nursing staff are frequently praised. There are, however, reports of variability—some residents experienced medication setup problems that took weeks to resolve or periods of CNA turnover that affected continuity of care. A small but serious subset of reviews describe episodes of neglect or poor care (including a hospice report of a resident in very poor condition). Those instances appear to be outliers compared with the majority but are important red flags for prospective families to investigate directly.

Staffing, turnover and leadership: While many reviewers praise leadership and note improvements after new directors or managers arrived (cleanliness improved after leadership change, praise for executive director), staffing shortages and turnover appear repeatedly. Reviewers describe short‑staffed shifts, especially nights, delays in assistance (bathroom/shower help), and periods when activities or cooking were disrupted. Several comments note that staffing issues have resolved over time for some families, while others continue to experience gaps. Management turnover and inconsistent availability of admissions or executive staff are also mentioned; these operational inconsistencies can produce widely varying experiences depending on timing and unit.

Facilities, cleanliness and layout: The facility is frequently described as clean, bright, and well‑maintained—many reviewers say “immaculate,” with renovated, hotel‑like common areas, a theater, library, and courtyard. At the same time, parts of the building show their age: some common areas or wings are older, courtyard maintenance and uneven sidewalks/tripping hazards were reported, and some apartments are small and not wheelchair‑friendly. Studio/efficiency apartments are common; reviewers frequently call them adequate but small. Access and security are mixed topics—some families appreciate controlled entry and safety, while others call access “prison‑like” and worry about residents’ freedom to come and go.

Dining and food service: Dining reviews are mixed but trend positive overall. Many reviewers praise restaurant‑style dining, varied menus, and newer food improvements after a chef was hired; several say meals are “very good” or “excellent.” Conversely, a notable number of reports cite poor food quality at times (including periods when the kitchen was short‑staffed or meals were brought in from outside), and some reviewers mention bugs or unsanitary incidents tied to food service. There are also recurring notes about extra charges (e.g., room‑service fees in some cases) and occasional variability between dining experiences.

Activities and social life: Sodalis Temple receives consistent praise for a robust activities program—residents have access to many choices beyond bingo: arts and crafts, parties, group outings to restaurants and shopping, gardening, movies, prayer services, and social dress‑up events. The community is described as active and social, and many reviewers observed residents engaging with each other and staff. Activity staffing can be good, though a few reviews claim at times there were no visible activities or a lack of engagement in certain periods.

Operational details, pricing and value: Pricing and billing notes are mixed. Several reviewers appreciate transparent, all‑inclusive (non‑tiered) pricing and consider the community good value for the money despite being relatively costly. Others highlight rent increases, additional charges, and confusing fee practices. Some families mention good coordination with pharmacy services and medication billing concerns. Prospective residents should confirm what is included in monthly fees and ask about extra charges for services like room service, therapy beyond baseline, and transportation.

Safety, transportation and accessibility: There are useful onsite amenities like a shuttle service and transportation to appointments, but availability can be limited (examples: transportation limited to Tue/Thu and some rides have no escort). Courtyard access is not universal—only certain studios face or access the courtyard directly—so apartment selection affects outdoor access. Accessibility issues are reported for some layouts (not wheelchair‑friendly), and attention to courtyard trip hazards and pavement condition was called out.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The strongest, most consistent positives are staff quality, cleanliness in many areas, and an active resident program; many reviewers felt their loved ones were emotionally and physically improved after moving in. The most common concerns are staffing consistency, occasional declines or variability in food and housekeeping, small apartment sizes, and occasional leadership/management turnover. There are extreme outlier negative experiences alleging neglect; while not the norm in the dataset, they are serious and should prompt direct inquiry.

Bottom line for prospective residents and families: Sodalis Temple is frequently recommended for families seeking a caring, active assisted‑living environment with strong, personable staff, good on‑site clinical support, and many social opportunities. It is especially appealing to those who value a smaller, community feel and renovated, clean common spaces. Before committing, visitors should verify current staffing levels (including nights), ask for details about medication setup and escalation processes, confirm what dining options and extra charges exist, inspect specific apartment layouts for size and accessibility, and inquire about courtyard access and transportation schedules. Also ask how management handles incident reporting and care escalation—checking these operational points will help ensure your experience matches the many positive reviews while mitigating the risk of the less favorable outlier experiences.
