    Neglectful care, unsafe and unreliable

I placed my mom here and I regret it. She fell repeatedly (about 15 times), was often dehydrated, left bedbound smelling of urine and developed bedsores while staff ignored call lights and sometimes withheld belongings like socks, shoes and her walker. Communication was awful - phones unanswered, families left in the dark - and care was inconsistent and at times disrespectful or neglectful, though a few nurses were kind and the food was decent. I saw some positive changes under new ownership, but I do not feel it is safe to trust a loved one to this facility.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is highly polarized and inconsistent, with a clear pattern of serious concerns coexisting alongside reports of satisfactory or even excellent care. Many reviewers describe compassionate, professional nurses and CNAs who provide effective therapy, attentive one-on-one care, good family communication, and an appealing, calm physical environment with a pleasant courtyard. Conversely, an alarming number of reviews allege severe neglect, unsafe care, and abusive or dismissive staff conduct. Because both positive and very negative experiences are reported, the aggregate picture is one of great variability in care quality and resident experience.

Care quality and resident safety: The most frequent and serious themes relate to neglect and adverse clinical outcomes. Multiple reviews recount missed or delayed medications, residents left unbathed or in soiled garments, dehydration from insufficient assistance with fluids, and pressure ulcers/bedsores severe enough to draw warnings from treating doctors. There are specific reports of repeated falls (one review cites 15 falls), residents being left unattended for hours, and at least one mention of death tied by the reviewer to poor care. These accounts indicate systemic risks to resident safety, frequently tied by reviewers to understaffing or inattentive staff. At the same time, other reviewers note marked improvement in residents' health after receiving physical and occupational therapy here, demonstrating that therapeutic services are available and can be beneficial when delivered appropriately.

Staff behavior and consistency: Reviews portray staff behavior as highly inconsistent. Numerous families report compassionate, friendly, and professional nurses, administrators, and aides who communicate well and treat residents respectfully. Contrastingly, many other reviewers describe rude, dismissive, or demeaning staff who ignore call lights, fail to answer phones, withhold belongings, or engage in theft (slippers, socks, walkers, shoes, wheelchairs). Several accounts accuse staff of treating residents like prisoners and describe disrespect toward families. This polarization suggests fluctuating staffing quality across shifts and potential problems with hiring, training, supervision, or morale. Staffing shortages and overwork are explicitly mentioned by some reviewers as contributors to lapses in care.

Management, communication, and responsiveness: A recurring complaint concerns poor communication and unresponsive leadership. Multiple reviewers report unanswered phone calls, full voicemail boxes, and difficulty reaching management for concerns. Some praise the administrator and note professional management, including a report of improved leadership under new ownership; however, many others find management ineffective or dismissive. Reports of moving residents without timely notice and denying service dog access indicate inconsistent enforcement of policies and inadequate family communication. These managerial inconsistencies appear to magnify clinical and operational problems.

Facility, amenities, dining and activities: Physical attributes are described positively by some reviewers—clean common spaces, calm atmosphere, adequate decoration, and a comfortable covered courtyard with seating. Yet other reviews cite dirty conditions, urine odor, and lack of hot water. Room-level amenities appear limited (examples: no nightstands, a single television; bring-your-own-TV encouraged). Dining-related complaints include lack of menu choice, poor meal assistance (including an allegation of a plate being discarded while a resident could not feed themself), and general dissatisfaction from some families. Activities and planned garden projects are also reported as inconsistently implemented, with some planned programming not realized.

Regulatory and reputational concerns: Several reviews point to very serious allegations leading to investigations and negative public attention, including mentions of news coverage and a Medicare one-star rating cited by reviewers. Some reviewers call for facility shutdown or legal action, reflecting the severity of certain reported incidents. These strong allegations stand in stark contrast to positive testimonials and emphasize the need for independent verification and oversight. Reports of improvements under new ownership and praised administrators suggest that changes are underway in some cases, but the persistence of severe negative accounts suggests these changes may be partial or uneven.

Patterns and overall impression: The dominant pattern is inconsistency: the facility appears capable of providing professional, compassionate care—particularly in therapy services and from specific staff or under certain management—but there are widespread, repeated reports of neglect, safety lapses, theft or withholding of belongings, and poor communication. Staffing shortages and variable staff performance across shifts are repeatedly cited as root causes. Given the frequency and severity of the negative reports (bedsores, dehydration, falls, alleged deaths, and investigations), these issues cannot be dismissed as isolated one-off complaints.

Concluding assessment: The reviews present a facility with mixed performance and considerable risk variability. Positive experiences emphasize compassionate caregivers, helpful therapies, improved health outcomes for some residents, and pleasant outdoor spaces. Negative reports raise serious red flags about neglect, safety, sanitation, theft of personal items, and management responsiveness. For families evaluating this facility, the reviews suggest exercising caution: verify current ownership/management status, request documentation of staffing levels and recent survey findings, speak directly with therapists and nursing leadership about care plans, and perform in-person visits (observing multiple shifts if possible) to assess consistency of care. The overall record indicates that individual experiences can range from excellent to dangerously poor, and prospective residents and families would benefit from close, ongoing oversight if choosing this facility.
