    Warm safe compassionate home-like care

I toured and then moved my loved one into Village Care Homes on N. Eldridge Pkwy and couldn't be more pleased. From the warm greeting and attentive, caring staff to the spotless, home-like rooms and open kitchen/dining area, the place is well-managed and safe; residents are active (they even have baby bunnies!), staff send photo updates, quickly address concerns, and handled COVID visits responsibly. I feel relieved and highly recommend this five-star facility for compassionate, professional assisted living care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with frequent praise for the quality of care, the attentiveness of staff, and the home-like atmosphere at Village Care Homes Assisted Living—Eldridge. Reviewers consistently note an extremely welcoming first impression (greeting at the door, attentive tours) and emphasize that staff are sweet, compassionate, and go above and beyond typical caretaker duties. Multiple comments highlight that owners and management are hands-on and genuinely care about residents, which contributes to families feeling reassured and grateful.

Care quality and staffing are central strengths in the feedback. Caregivers are described as thoughtful, experienced, patient, and professional. Reviewers report prompt responses to health concerns, coordinated care with families, and staff who work cooperatively with outside providers (for example, hospice). Several accounts mention that staff handled COVID-era visiting proactively — providing safe, controlled visits and clear communication — and reviewers credited the home with having no COVID cases during that time. Families also appreciated frequent, personalized communication such as post-move-in photo updates, which helped ease the transition.

Facility and environment are also highlighted positively. The home is described as clean and spotless with a comfortable, home-like design, including an open-concept kitchen/dining area that fosters a positive communal atmosphere. Thoughtful, personalized details—tables set with name cards and engaging craft activities—contribute to a feeling that residents are treated with dignity and attention. Small touches such as live interactions with animals (baby bunnies) and a varied activity calendar were specifically called out as enhancing residents’ engagement and enjoyment.

Dining receives mixed but generally favorable feedback. Breakfasts and meals are described as enjoyable by many residents, and reviewers find the dining environment pleasant. However, a recurring constructive comment is that the menu can be repetitive and skew toward pasta-heavy options; some reviewers would like healthier and more varied meal choices. This is perhaps the most consistent area for improvement noted across the reviews.

Cleanliness and housekeeping are praised overall, yet there are occasional mentions that room cleaning could be more thorough or consistent. These instances appear to be isolated relative to the volume of positive commentary but are worth noting as an operational area to monitor and address to maintain high satisfaction levels.

Communication, management, and value are additional strengths. Families repeatedly describe the facility as well-managed, providing clear updates and being accommodating to special requests (such as arranging safe visits during COVID). The facility is also viewed as cost-efficient by some reviewers, and many express strong recommendations—several rating it five stars and one noting it as an 'answer to prayer.' In summary, Village Care Homes Assisted Living—Eldridge is portrayed as a caring, well-run, and welcoming assisted living option with excellent staff, meaningful activities, good communication, and only a few relatively minor areas for improvement (meal variety and occasional housekeeping consistency).

About Village Care Homes Assisted Living—Eldridge

Village Care Homes Assisted Living-Eldridge sits on North Eldridge Parkway in a small, quiet neighborhood, and has space for only a handful of seniors in its nine spacious bedrooms, most with en-suite bathrooms, so you'll find it keeps a home-like and calm feeling compared to the larger facilities. The building's a craftsman-style home with about 5,900 square feet, furnished rooms you can personalize, and open living and dining areas where folks gather for meals or group activities like crafts, and there's a separate sitting room for visiting or reading. Staff are always around, 24/7, with a low caregiver-to-resident ratio, making sure everybody gets the help they need, whether it's bathing, grooming, dressing, medication reminders, or moving around the house with assistance-including two-person transfers, if needed-and people can get personalized care plans that change as their needs do.

Residents have company and a sense of family here, building relationships with both staff and each other, and the community's kept pet-friendly so folks can bring their animals, which can help make it feel even more like home. The kitchen serves up three home-cooked meals a day, made from scratch, with snacks too, and does special diets like diabetic meals and special feeding routines when needed. There are daily housekeeping and laundry services, and the living areas, both inside and out, give people spaces to relax-some sit at the covered patio by the water features, others enjoy outdoor patio dining, and some like to relax in the sparkling swimming pool or hot tub, which can also be used for easy, gentle pool exercise.

Activities vary from day to day-could be crafts, could be animal visits, or social and spiritual gatherings-always adapting to what folks enjoy and need, and there's an option for outings, too. Healthcare visits come right to the house, with a dentist, a podiatrist, and beauty/barber staff making regular stops. There's assistance for incontinence and toileting, managed carefully and kindly, and round-the-clock care also extends to help for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, with systems in place for safety, like a commercial fire sprinkler and a backup generator so there's no worry if the power ever goes out. Staff can help with end-of-life care or offer short-term stays-with respite options that start at a daily rate for at least seven days-and families can stay involved in care planning. WIFI and cable TV are free, so a person can easily keep in touch with family or catch up on their favorites.

All in all, Village Care Homes Assisted Living-Eldridge keeps things simple, quiet, and supportive, focusing on the comfort, safety, and happiness of the people living there above anything else, and there's plenty of company and regular things to do to keep minds and bodies active.
