    Lovely facility, serious care concerns

I love the spotless, hotel-like facility, delicious meals, varied activities and many genuinely caring CNAs and staff - it often felt like home and their memory-care programming can be excellent. That said I witnessed/experienced medication mix-ups, inconsistent nursing, lapses in care, poor communication and even abrupt eviction/transition practices; staffing and med-tech training seem uneven. Mixed feelings: beautiful, active community but ask hard questions about meds, staffing and policies before you commit.

    Summary review

Overall impression Reviews of Carrington Court Assisted Living and Memory Care are predominantly positive, with frequent praise for the facility’s cleanliness, atmosphere, activities program, and the compassion of day-to-day staff. Many families describe a warm, home-like environment with a strong family feel and high resident engagement. Multiple reviewers single out memory-care programming, the activities director, and CNAs as standout strengths. At the same time, there is a distinct and recurring set of serious concerns reported by a subset of reviewers — most notably inconsistent nursing/medication management, administrative turnover, communication gaps, and some reports of eviction or money-driven decisions. These conflicting patterns suggest that experiences can vary substantially depending on timing, unit, or individual staff on duty.

Care quality and staff A major theme across the reviews is the devotion and kindness of frontline caregivers. CNAs, med techs, and activity staff are frequently described as loving, attentive, and responsive; many family members say their loved ones were treated “like family” or “like royalty.” Multiple reviews praise long-tenured and well-trained caregivers, note 24/7 CNA availability, and describe good coordination with hospice and home health services. Several reviewers also highlight reliable on-call nursing support, visiting physicians, and prompt coordination with medical providers.

Counterbalancing this, a clear minority of reviews raise serious concerns about clinical consistency. Multiple accounts cite medication errors, missed medication passes, delayed medication stock, and at least one reviewer explicitly stating nursing was “not passing meds.” There are also reports of med-techs needing more education and allegations of neglect or indifferent staff behavior. These clinical issues are serious and recurring enough in the review set to merit careful scrutiny by prospective families (ask directly about medication policies, error rates, and staff training during visits).

Facility and amenities Physical descriptions of Carrington Court are overwhelmingly positive. Reviewers consistently note immaculate cleanliness, tasteful decor, attractive common areas, and pleasant scents. Private apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes and good-sized bathrooms are often praised; reviewers highlight accessible courtyard spaces, tidy bathrooms, TV/game rooms, a library, and a beauty salon. Several families appreciated the intimate size of the community (many cited 40–45 rooms or smaller), which supports a close-knit atmosphere. Some reviewers, however, mentioned that some rooms can feel small or slightly dated; this was not a dominant theme but is worth verifying on a tour.

Dining and programming Dining receives largely favorable notices, with many reviewers praising the chef, meal variety, pastries, and the availability of family-style dining and guest meals. Named staff (e.g., Chef Iva Jean) and special programs like Sunday dinners or guest outings are singled out as strengths. Activity programming is another major plus — reviewers consistently praise a robust calendar that includes exercise classes, bingo, movie nights, church services, music and live performances, crafts, field trips, and frequent social/holiday events. The activities director receives strong and repeated personal commendations for creativity and resident engagement. These social and cognitive opportunities are presented as a key reason many families recommend Carrington Court.

Management, communication, and policies This is an area of mixed feedback. Many reviewers compliment front-office staff (names like Tina or Viola are mentioned positively) and report helpful, thorough move-in or respite processes. Some reviews cite visible, engaged owners and managers who personally care for residents. Conversely, several reviews document problems with administrative turnover, inconsistent leadership, poor communication (phone/email responsiveness), and marketing misrepresentation during tours (short or hurried tours, showing only one room). Serious complaints also allege policy shortcomings: poor infection-control practices during outbreaks (PPE shortages noted), HIPAA concerns, and reports of residents being rapidly evicted for missed payments or transitioned poorly to Medicaid. These managerial and policy issues are significant red flags in some reports and contributed strongly to negative reviews.

Patterns and variability The reviews present a notable bipolar pattern: a large majority of families reporting excellent care, cleanliness, activity programming, and compassionate staff — and a smaller but vocal minority reporting severe lapses in clinical care, management decisions, and communication. Positive reviews tend to emphasize day-to-day direct-care staff, the activities team, and the pleasant environment; negative reviews cluster around clinical safety (medication errors), administrative instability, financial/eviction concerns, and inconsistent responsiveness. Some accounts also describe a decline in service over time or after leadership changes, suggesting that quality may fluctuate with staff turnover.

What prospective families should note Based on these reviews, Carrington Court appears to offer a warm, active, and clean environment with particularly strong social and memory-care programming and many dedicated caregivers. However, the repeated mentions of medication management problems, administrative turnover, reported eviction incidents for financial reasons, and occasional infection-control lapses are material concerns. Prospective families should (1) verify current staffing levels and turnover rates, (2) ask specifically about medication management protocols and recent medication-error history, (3) inspect infection-control policies and PPE availability, (4) request clarification on billing, eviction, and Medicaid-transition procedures, and (5) observe a tour during activity times to gauge resident engagement and staff responsiveness.

Bottom line Many reviewers wholeheartedly recommend Carrington Court for its compassionate frontline staff, robust activities, well-run memory-care programming, and attractive, clean environment. At the same time, the facility has a non-trivial set of consumer complaints about clinical consistency, management practices, and financial/policy decisions that should be explored in person. The decision to move a loved one there should be informed by direct questions and observations related to medication safety, leadership stability, and written policies on billing/eviction and infection control.
