Paul Spring Retirement Community sits on 12 acres just south of Old Town Alexandria at 7116 Fort Hunt Road, offering a mix of independent living, assisted living, and Inspiritás Memory Care. The community runs on a month-to-month rental system, which includes all utilities like cable, local phone, and Wi-Fi, and accepts private funding. The campus has 146 beds and offers a quiet spot with well-kept grounds, walking paths, gardens, and a big patio, so folks can get fresh air or walk their dogs since the place is pet-friendly. Residents can choose from furnished or unfurnished apartments, with modern kitchens, walk-in showers, and emergency call systems in every unit. Housekeeping helps with daily chores like making the bed and there are washers and dryers on-site for personal laundry.
Care at Paul Spring covers a wide range, from simple support with daily activities in independent and assisted living, to specialized help for those needing memory care. Nurses and aides give medication reminders, help with dressing and bathing, and handle medication administration. The staff in memory care have special training to work with dementia and Alzheimer's, focusing on safety, personal dignity, and routine, with a secure environment to limit wandering. The Inspiritás Memory Care neighborhood has private rooms, calming courtyards, private gardens, and quiet corners for art, music, or time outdoors, which helps residents feel comfortable and protected.
Seniors living here can join in many programs, including RUI University classes-things like cooking or learning languages-or stay active at the RUI FIT Fitness Center using treadmills or taking group exercise. There are daily activities for everybody, with clubs, games, movies at the theater, and social events in big common rooms or in the community garden. Meals are cooked on-site by a chef and served restaurant-style, and the Taste of RUI dining program means residents get a choice of food. For folks who like to be pampered, there's the LUXE Unlimited Salon & Spa, a massage room with a waterfall, and a therapist comes to provide physical or speech therapy if it's needed.
All building entries are controlled for security, and there's emergency response in every apartment. Transportation helps residents get out for errands or doctor visits. The grounds include a golf course and sidewalks for safe walking, and there are places to gather, like a library, music area with instruments, an art gallery, a game room, and a theater with plush seats. The Life Enrichment Program brings people together for educational, social, and spiritual activities, and the facility makes sure every resident feels respected and valued.
Ms. Joycelin Owusu-Dankwaa leads the community as Executive Director. Paul Spring has served seniors since 1988 and remains family-owned. The focus has always been to offer good care and support, provide an engaging place to live, and let residents keep as much independence and privacy as possible, whether they need a little help or full memory care. There's always someone on hand, day or night, who knows the residents and understands their needs, helping people keep routines, stay healthy, and feel at home.
