    Good therapy, troubling care issues

I'm torn: the therapy team, many compassionate aides, and a friendly front desk made rehab and visits genuinely helpful, and the building and most rooms are often clean and well kept. But I also witnessed or experienced serious issues - cold/spoiled food, missed or late meds, ignored call bells, hygiene/laundry lapses, distracted or unprofessional nursing (smoking, phones), safety and communication breakdowns, and inconsistent administration - some problems were severe enough to worry me. Overall it helped my loved one in therapy, but I'd be cautious and stay vigilant about care and oversight.

About Henrico Health & Rehabilitation Center

Henrico Health & Rehabilitation Center sits at 561 N. Airport Drive in Highland Springs, Virginia, near Highland Springs High School, where people go when they need help recovering from planned surgeries, accidents, strokes, heart attacks, or respiratory issues, and where some stay long term if daily care becomes too much at home, and you can see how much thought they've put into making things comfortable and restful, offering both semi-private and private rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom that has an easy-to-access shower or tub, and the rooms are unfurnished so folks can bring their own things if they want, with cable or satellite TV ready to use in each room, and everything set up for someone who needs care at any level. There's a large, modern gym with advanced therapy machines includes things like dynamic stair trainers, cyber cycles, and the HUR iBalance machine, with therapy up to seven days a week, and you can tell they're serious about getting people moving again after surgeries or illnesses, and there's a program called LifeWorks Rehab® that uses special things like the Recovery Map™ and Personal Report Card™ to help people and their families keep track of their progress, which makes it clear to everyone how things are going. Henrico Health & Rehabilitation Center has 120 beds, licensed as a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), with a focused staff that includes physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, culinary staff, and a dietitian, so every part of care is covered, whether it's medical needs, movement and rehabilitation, regular meals, or specialized diets, and there's even an Activities Coordinator to keep people engaged with games and programs during the day. The dining room uses a restaurant-style approach where chefs cook meals by patient preference, and the extras like a beauty/barber shop, game room, library, and housecleaning make daily life smoother, while the emergency call system in every room helps folks feel safe. You'd find daily room rates for a semi-private room are $298 and for a private room $309, and the place operates every day, with longer hours on weekdays from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and shorter on weekends from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, which fits the rhythm of most families and visitors. The long-term care here has built a strong reputation for serving adults over 50 who need more support, while short-term recovery - the sort after hip or knee surgery - is always tailored, using customized therapy offered two to three hours a day. You can see that this place runs under Medical Services of America, with the administrator Christina Wiley leading the team, making sure all the details are handled, whether someone's there to recover for a little while or planning to call it home for a longer time.
