    Great facility, but staffing concerns

I live/visited here and the building is clean, new-feeling and well maintained - private, apartment-style rooms, attractive dining area, nice grounds and good security/Alzheimer's features. Many staff are kind, helpful and responsive, and the place can feel like family with plenty of activities. That said, I've seen serious staffing limitations, some unprofessional or burnt-out aides, mixed food quality, and worrying incidents of neglect and poor supervision; management sometimes seemed dismissive. I'm overall cautiously positive - great facility and some wonderful caregivers, but I'd recommend verifying current staffing, oversight and responses to medical/safety concerns before choosing it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment is strongly mixed: reviewers describe a facility with a well-maintained, secure, and attractive physical plant and many positive features, but also serious, recurring allegations of neglect, poor clinical oversight, and unprofessional staff behavior. Multiple reviewers praise the building’s accessibility, apartment-style units, attractive dining area, landscaped grounds, large common rooms, and Alzheimer’s-friendly security features. Others emphasize affordability, the availability of activities and outings, delivered mail/groceries, and the independence apartment living affords. Several reviews describe staff members who are kind, caring, quick to respond, and treat residents like family; these reviewers report clean rooms, regular showers, improved continence care, and good meals.

However, there is a substantial and troubling cluster of negative reports that cannot be overlooked. Several reviewers allege inadequate care stemming from understaffing and staff burnout: residents left in unsanitary conditions for extended periods, infrequent toileting, poor feeding practices, residents being yelled at or forced to eat, and instances of staff inattentiveness (on cell phones or away from residents). More serious allegations include reports of residents being drugged, failure to summon medical care for fevers or pneumonia, and at least one report that a patient died after staff did not call a doctor. Reviewers also reported unprofessional behavior (swearing, immature conduct), aides seen in smoking areas, and concerns that some staff are not properly trained, hired, or compensated. These accounts point to potential safety, medication management, and staffing-training deficits.

Dining impressions are split sharply: some reviewers describe an excellent, hotel-like dining experience and praise the kitchen and food, while others call the food “slop,” of little nutritional value, or otherwise poor. This split suggests inconsistency in food quality, meal preparation, or perhaps variability across shifts. Similarly, staff quality appears inconsistent—multiple reviewers highlight individual aides or teams who are compassionate and attentive, while others describe aides who are uncaring, neglectful, or even hostile. Management and oversight are recurring themes: several reviewers say management dismissed concerns, an administrator was hostile, or state inspections and oversight seemed questionable. At least one reviewer reported the owner’s residence being used as a care location and a perception that the facility prioritizes payment over resident care. There are also mentions of Medicaid-related limits on options and an incorrect address listing that creates confusion for prospects.

Patterns that emerge: 1) The facility’s physical environment and amenities are frequently praised—secure, accessible, clean, and well maintained; 2) Care quality is inconsistent, with a divide between reviewers who experience attentive, family-like staff and those who report neglect or serious safety failures; 3) Staffing levels, training, and supervision appear to be core issues—reports of burnout, understaffing, unprofessional behavior, and poor clinical escalation; 4) Dining and kitchen services vary from excellent to unacceptable; and 5) Management responsiveness and regulatory transparency are questioned by multiple reviewers.

Recommendations for prospective residents and families based on these reviews: tour the facility multiple times across different days and meal times, ask for staffing ratios and staff turnover statistics, inquire about training, supervision, and medication administration protocols, request recent state inspection reports and staffing schedules, ask how incidents and complaints are handled and documented, verify emergency/physician notification policies, check residency agreements for Medicaid-related limitations, and speak directly with current residents and several families about routine care (toileting, bathing, medication, and mealtimes). Given the polarized experiences reported, due diligence is essential: the facility clearly has many strengths in environment and some excellent caregivers, but the frequency and severity of the negative allegations warrant careful investigation before making a placement decision.
