    Warm environment, concerning communication lapses

I had a warm, mostly positive experience - staff were lovely, helpful and caring, the facility was clean and welcoming, meals and activities were excellent, and my room felt like home. However it's expensive and far, and I saw poor communication, lack of responsiveness and at least one serious lapse in resident monitoring and rude behavior, so it's not the right fit for everyone. I'd recommend visiting and asking about staffing/response practices before deciding.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is mixed but leans positive: a substantial number of reviewers strongly recommend Waynesboro Manor and emphasize compassionate, attentive care, an atmosphere that feels like home, enjoyable meals, active programming, and pleasant communal spaces. Multiple comments describe staff as lovely, caring and friendly, residents becoming content and making new friends, and an easy transition into the community. Reviewers frequently mention clean, welcoming facilities and the ability to personalize rooms, which contributes to a homelike environment. Activities and social opportunities are repeatedly praised as abundant and helpful for resident engagement.

Care quality and staffing present a nuanced picture. Many reviewers explicitly call the care "best" or "amazing" for family members, indicating that the facility provides strong hands-on support in numerous cases. At the same time, there are serious outlier complaints that cannot be ignored: at least one account reports a resident being left soiled and dehydrated, suggesting lapses in monitoring or timely assistance. Additionally, while many experiences highlight staff helpfulness and detailed outreach, several reviews mention poor responsiveness — including no callbacks and difficulty scheduling tours — which points to inconsistent communication practices between staff and families. This variability suggests that quality may depend on specific shifts, caregivers, or administrative contacts.

Staff behavior and culture show both strengths and critical concerns. Positive comments underscore compassionate caregiving and informative staff interactions. However, the presence of allegations of rude behavior and racially discriminatory conduct by staff is a high-severity issue raised in the reviews. Such reports contrast sharply with the otherwise warm descriptions and indicate possible personnel problems or gaps in staff training and enforcement of anti-discrimination policies. Prospective families should treat these allegations seriously and ask how the facility manages complaints, staff training, hiring practices, and diversity/anti-bias policies.

Facilities, dining, and activities are commonly cited strengths. Reviewers note the facility is clean and welcoming, rooms are nice and can be personalized, and meals are generally enjoyed — several people describe the food as great or enjoyable most of the time. Activities are described as plentiful and effective at helping residents make friends and stay engaged. These elements contribute strongly to impressions that the community is comfortable and supportive for many residents.

Operational and logistical concerns appear in several reviews. Cost is a deterrent for some — a few reviewers feel the price is too high — and location is a practical barrier for others who find the facility too far to visit easily. Administrative responsiveness is another recurring problem: reports of no callbacks, inability to schedule tours, and communication breakdowns suggest front-desk or admissions processes could be improved. These operational issues are less about day-to-day caregiving and more about family experience and access to the community.

Taken together, the pattern is one of predominantly positive resident experiences with notable, sometimes serious, negative exceptions. Strengths include compassionate staff (in many cases), good dining, active programming, a clean facility, and a homelike atmosphere with opportunities for personalization. Critical concerns to investigate further are inconsistent communication, at least one allegation of neglect (soiled and dehydrated resident), reports of rude and allegedly racist staff behavior, variable fit for different residents, pricing, and accessibility for visitors.

Recommendations for prospective residents and families: schedule an in-person visit and insist on meeting caregiving staff across different shifts; ask specifically about staffing ratios, monitoring protocols (especially for incontinence and hydration), incident reporting and resolution processes, and how the facility addresses discrimination complaints. Request references from current families, review recent inspection or complaint histories if available, and clarify the full cost structure and any transportation/visitor supports. Given the mix of very positive reviews and serious negative reports, due diligence will help determine whether Waynesboro Manor is the right fit for a particular resident.

    About Waynesboro Manor

Waynesboro Manor sits in a single-level building with wide hallways and no steps, making it easier for folks to move around, and you'll find the place fully carpeted with central heat and air so it stays comfortable in every season, and rooms have free cable TV, Wi-Fi, emergency call systems and air conditioning, which a lot of people appreciate. The community has large private and semi-private rooms, all with either full or half baths and walk-in showers, so each resident gets some privacy and comfort, and the staff makes sure fresh linens and furniture are part of the deal, which helps folks settle in. Meals here get cooked fresh and served restaurant-style three times a day, with tasty snacks in between, and the kitchen can handle special diet needs, so residents can eat well and feel cared for at the same time. There's a set program of activities-things like group exercise in the flower gardens, singing carols when it's winter, and events that help residents make friends and stay active, plus comfortable indoor and outdoor common areas where people can sit and chat or host family gatherings. The Manor offers independent living for those who want to keep busy with hobbies and a full calendar, while assisted living services are state-licensed and cover daily support, medication management, diabetic care, incontinence help, non-ambulatory care, and a special memory care program for folks dealing with Alzheimer's or dementia, all handled by a trained staff available around the clock. Laundry and housekeeping come included, and utilities-like cable television-are part of the package, so you won't need to handle those chores. The place tries to create a homelike, secure atmosphere, which matters for folks who want to keep their independence but may need a little help as they go. Waynesboro Manor has been family owned and operated since 1984, serves the area near the Blue Ridge Parkway, and sits close to hospitals and shopping, which can be handy if you have doctor's appointments or want to get out now and then, and you should see it for yourself if you want somewhere that covers both comfort and care without making things complicated.
