    Attentive compassionate staff, homey feel

I feel grateful for the attentive, compassionate staff (Katie especially) who make this place homey, safe, and family-like - comfortable rooms, a nice seating/TV area, convenient location and good food. It's pricey and currently has visitation restrictions/paused activities, but residents are clearly well cared for and I highly recommend this caring, down-to-earth team.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the provided reviews is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers highlighting the quality of personal care and the warm, home-like atmosphere at Cozy Place Adult Family Home. The most frequently mentioned strengths are the staff and management: reviewers consistently describe the staff as attentive, helpful, comforting, compassionate, and down-to-earth. The owner, Katie, is specifically named and praised in several summaries for being caring and engaged, which contributes to a sense of trust and confidence among families and residents. Several reviewers explicitly state that residents are well cared for and that the environment feels safe.

The facility itself is described in terms that emphasize a residential, family-oriented setting rather than an institutional one. Phrases like "family-like feel," "homey environment," and mentions of comfortable rooms, a nice seating area, and a TV reinforce the impression of a comfortable living space tailored to residents' everyday needs. Location is noted as convenient, and reviewers repeatedly say they would recommend the home, which signals high overall satisfaction. The supportive approach toward families — reviewers mention staff being supportive with family members — suggests good communication and involvement of relatives in care decisions.

Dining and basic amenities are also viewed positively: reviewers mention "good food" specifically, which indicates that mealtime and nutrition are satisfactory aspects of daily life at the home. Comfort-related features such as private or comfortable rooms and a pleasant shared seating area contribute to the overall sense of a welcoming environment. Safety is emphasized as a benefit, with multiple summaries noting that residents are cared for and kept in a safe environment.

The main concerns raised by reviewers cluster around restrictions and programming. Several summaries point to visitation restrictions and activities being paused or limited. These points suggest episodic interruptions to social or family interactions and to organized programming, which can affect resident well-being and family satisfaction. The reviews do not provide specifics about why restrictions or pauses occurred (for example, temporary health or regulatory reasons), so it is unclear whether these are ongoing policies or temporary measures; nonetheless, they are notable drawbacks in otherwise positive accounts.

Cost is another area of concern: reviewers describe the home as "expensive" or "relatively expensive." While many reviewers still recommend the facility despite the cost, potential residents and families should weigh pricing against the high level of personalized care and the home-like environment described. There is no detailed information about fees, what is included, or how costs compare to alternatives, so families should request a clear breakdown of charges during the inquiry process.

In summary, the reviews depict Cozy Place Adult Family Home as a caring, family-oriented residence with strong, hands-on leadership (notably Katie) and staff who provide compassionate, attentive care. The facility’s atmosphere, basic amenities, and dining are praised, and multiple reviewers explicitly recommend the home. The primary negatives to investigate further are visitation restrictions, paused or limited activities, and the cost level. Prospective residents and their families would benefit from discussing current visitation policies, the status and schedule of activities, and a detailed pricing explanation when considering Cozy Place.

About Cozy Place Adult Family Home

Cozy Place Adult Family Home sits in Spokane Valley, WA, licensed under number 754549 and registered with DSHS, and has cared for adults since 2011 with a genuine focus on respect and dignity, run by Ms. Emily Fries and Mr. Samuel Courehaine as the principal contacts for this limited liability company. The home has six licensed beds, allowing small group care that feels home-like, and the staff help geriatric residents with things like transfers, meal management, and medication assistance, offering both long-term and short-term respite stays for those who want a quieter setting without a big crowd. People can choose private or semi-private rooms, each with at least a twin bed, linens, lockable storage, and either private or semi-private bathrooms, plus cable TV, internet, and private telephones, and the rooms are all wheelchair and walker accessible, some with private patios and lots of natural light.

There's a covered patio with a view of fruit trees, and inside there's a big common area for family visits, holidays, or group activities, with high speed internet and guest Wi-Fi available. A public cordless phone is set up for private conversations, but folks can have their own phones in their rooms if they want. The family-oriented setup gives room for shared meals, games, celebrations, or just sitting together, and they serve several meal choices every day, making sure there are options for people with special diets like diabetic, gluten-free, low sodium, vegetarian, kosher, or allergies, plus there are snacks and drinks always available.

The staff stay on site around the clock, ready to lend a hand with daily living tasks, and nurses handle medication support and management, providing in-house care, including for those with high needs, non-ambulatory care, diabetic support, memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, incontinence help, wound care, visual or hearing support, and even total care for quadriplegic and trach patients. Special services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy visits, podiatry checks, oxygen, tube feeding, pharmacy delivery, and nurse evaluations, plus fall prevention, pharmacy medication disposal, and help scheduling medical appointments.

There's always something to do with planned activities like exercise classes, bingo, movie nights, arts and crafts, gardening, puzzles, card games, reading, and Sit to Be Fit, along with birthday and holiday parties, aromatherapy, music and pet therapy visits, and outings with transportation available for a fee. Families get support through outreach and education, and can visit any day between 9:00am and 8:00pm to keep in touch. Security comes from locked or fenced exits, emergency call buttons, and a location near a hospital, making sure people stay safe, and staff are careful to tailor each care package to individual needs, with regular inspections and electronic medical records that family decision makers can access. Private and public areas have heating and air conditioning, and the house allows pet visits by arrangement, but pets don't live there, which helps keep the place quiet and clean.

The business has held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, operating since its official opening in January 2016, and looks for extra help like certified nursing assistants to join their full-time team. Linen laundry services and hair or nail care visits are available, so clothes and looks stay neat, and there's parking for visitors and easy access for people with limited mobility. Cozy Place Adult Family Home keeps things simple, strives to make residents comfortable, and tries to make every day a little better for those who live there.
