    Outstanding care, pricey but recommended

I moved my mom in and quickly felt relief - the staff are outstanding, warm and genuinely caring, the community is clean, safe and homey, and the food is consistently fantastic. There are nonstop activities (theater, music, pet therapy, memory programs) and a very organized, responsive team that made placement and communication easy. Rooms are quaint with kitchenettes and the property feels lovely, but costs are high - rising room charges and surprise weekly cleaning/laundry/alcohol fees hurt the value. Great care and peace of mind if you can afford it; I highly recommend touring.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Aegis Living Marymoor is strongly positive, with the single most consistent theme being the quality of staff and direct caregiving. Reviewers repeatedly describe the team as caring, compassionate, patient, attentive and willing to go the extra mile. Multiple specific staff roles and employees (including mention of the Life Enrichment director Julie Hay and several front-line caregivers) were singled out for praise. Families reported feeling immediate trust and relief after placement, noting that staff provided individualized attention, frequent checks, proactive communication, and strong support for both residents and relatives.

Care quality and day-to-day support are highlighted as strengths. Memory-care programming receives positive mention, with daily activities, music therapy, memory games, exercise programs and other therapeutic engagements keeping residents active and engaged. Staff responsiveness and the structured, supportive environment were credited with improving residents’ moods and activity levels—examples include residents becoming more social and active after moving in. Reviewers also emphasized the facility’s ability to accommodate visitors and coordinate with out-of-town family members, and many comments noted peace of mind provided by consistent caregiving and quick accommodations or placements when needed.

The facility’s amenities and atmosphere are also frequently praised. Multiple reviewers mentioned a warm, home-like, welcoming feeling at arrival and throughout the community. Amenities such as a movie theater, a ‘Man Cave’, salon services, and various relaxation options contribute to a comfortable, engaging environment. The property is described as clean, well-kept and attractive (some even used terms like “glitz and glam” or “cruise ship vibe”), and communal dining and social areas foster companionship—residents often reported enjoying meals with company and a lively social calendar. Pet therapy, holiday meals, performances, outings and varied daily options on a monthly calendar round out a strong social program that many families say keeps residents happy and smiling.

Dining and programming receive favorable comments: meals are commonly called delicious, healthy and high-quality, with a welcoming kitchen and chef. The activity calendar is broad, with concerts, movies, bingo, puzzles, exercise, and small-group or individualized programming. Reviewers repeatedly praised the Life Enrichment staff and marketing/admissions teams for informative, compassionate tours and clear guidance during the move-in process. This combination of good food, active programming and attentive staff contributes to many recommendations and high overall satisfaction.

The principal area of consistent concern centers on cost and fees. Several reviews call out high pricing, value concerns, and notable fee surprises: weekly cleaning charges, laundry fees, alcohol charges, and a reported large community fee were mentioned specifically. Some families found on-going cost increases and higher room charges troubling, and a few noted the community felt out of their price range. Transparency and clarity around fees and long-term value appear to be pain points for prospective residents and families.

Physical space and aging infrastructure are secondary but recurring notes. While many reviewers praised the property and community vibe, others described rooms as small, not particularly modern, with older interiors and limited kitchenette space. A couple of reviewers mentioned occasional unprofessional behavior or communication issues with specific staff members, and one noted a logistical difficulty installing a phone line. These comments are less frequent than the praise for staff and programs but are important considerations for prospective residents who prioritize modern room layouts or larger private spaces.

In summary, Aegis Living Marymoor is widely recommended for its exceptional caregiving, robust activity programs, high-quality dining, and warm, social atmosphere. Families repeatedly emphasize the compassion and responsiveness of staff, the richness of daily programming (especially memory-care activities and music therapy), and the cleanliness and safety of the community. The main drawbacks to weigh are cost-related concerns—both baseline pricing and supplemental fees—and some variability in room size and decor. Prospective residents should tour the community, ask detailed questions about ongoing charges and fee increases, confirm the specifics of room layouts, and discuss any individualized care needs to ensure the overall fit and financial transparency.

    About Aegis Living Marymoor

Aegis Living Marymoor sits in a quiet residential part of Redmond, right near Marymoor Park, and draws a lot of its style from Northwest craftsmanship, so you'll find a cozy place that feels like a bed and breakfast more than a large facility, and folks seem to appreciate that the halls are easy to walk, the spaces are friendly, the garden and the gazebo beside the river are peaceful, and people like being able to sit in the living room, lobby, or bistro. The community has 72 licensed beds and offers different kinds of apartments including studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and companion choices, so couples with different care needs can stay together, which can mean a lot to some folks.

The staff provides a wide range of care options-light assisted living for those who need just a little help, full assisted living, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, respite and day stays for short term needs, transitional care for folks moving between different care levels, as well as end-of-life care, and round-the-clock care managers with nursing every day, not just weekdays, which families say gives them some peace of mind. The community is especially ready to support people with mild to moderate memory loss, offering specialized programs and personalized support, and there's onsite physical and occupational therapy, so rehab and therapy happen without leaving the building. Folks needing help with daily things like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine get that reliably, and memory care residents have activities and therapies meant for their needs, in spaces set up to keep them safe and lessen confusion.

Aegis Living Marymoor has spaces like a dining room where meals get served, an activity room, a fitness center, and even an herb garden, and people say the food's good and the activity schedule makes it easy to keep busy if you want, with options that change and suit what residents like to do. Pets can come, the buildings are wheelchair accessible, and there's high-speed internet and Wi-Fi. Special programs are in place for Parkinson's care and for Asian community support, and things like Red Light Restore and the Family Link keep families connected and provide extra health benefits some might find useful. The founder, Dwayne Clark, hoped to build a place that could change how people see and experience senior care, and after nearly two decades, Aegis Living still runs with a focus on staff longevity, friendly service, and a full range of support. Tours are available so families can see daily life, dining choices, and activities for themselves. The state keeps their license up to date, and services are provided under Aegis Senior Communities, LLC.
