    Compassionate home-like care for mother

I moved my mother in here and have been very impressed - compassionate, kind and friendly staff, gracious owners, and a home-like atmosphere where she's thrived, made friends, and receives excellent dementia and Parkinson's care. They even helped my father and me feel at home (helped unload the truck); the level of care seems better than nearby facilities, though I'm still planning to compare a few other homes before finalizing my decision.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the provided reviews is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently highlight compassionate, kind staff and owners who create a warm, family-style atmosphere. Multiple comments single out the home's quality of care for residents with dementia and Parkinson’s disease, and at least one family explicitly stated that their mother "thrived" while under the home's care. The general impression is of a small, familial adult family home where personalized attention and emotional support are priorities.

Care quality emerges as a primary strength. Reviewers emphasize excellent dementia and Parkinson’s care and attentive, individualized support for residents’ needs. One reviewer compared the facility favorably against nearby options, saying it provided a better level of care. Several notes about residents being happy, having friends, and being well cared for reinforce the perception that daily care and wellbeing are strong points for this home.

Staff and management receive repeated praise. Reviewers describe the owner and staff as loving, gracious, and welcoming. Specific behaviors cited include helping with move-in logistics (e.g., unloading a truck), making both residents and family members feel at home, and showing consistent kindness toward residents. These anecdotes point to a hands-on management style and staff who go beyond routine duties to support newcomers and their families — an important factor for families choosing a smaller, home-like setting.

Social environment and resident experience are also emphasized. Descriptions such as "family home environment," "home-like atmosphere," and mentions that residents have friends indicate a socially supportive milieu where relationships develop. Multiple reviewers explicitly state that their family members are happy, which aligns with the comments on personalized attention and staff warmth.

Notable gaps and concerns appear largely in what the reviews do not mention rather than explicit criticisms. One prospective resident or family member expressed indecision and planned to compare this home with other options, which suggests that despite strong positive impressions, some families still evaluate alternatives or seek additional reassurance. Additionally, the reviews provide limited or no detail about physical facilities, dining quality, activity programming, medical staffing, safety protocols, or pricing. That absence of information means prospective families should ask targeted questions and request tours or written policies to fill those gaps.

In summary, the review set paints a clear picture of a small, family-run adult family home with warm, compassionate staff and owners, strong dementia and Parkinson’s care, and an environment where residents appear happy and socially connected. The primary strengths are personalized, attentive care and a welcoming, home-like atmosphere. The main limitations in the dataset are the lack of commentary about amenities, dining, activities, and operational details, and a single note of prospective-family indecision. Prospective families should supplement these positive impressions by visiting, asking about specific services and routines, and comparing options if they want to confirm that the home’s strengths match their particular care needs and expectations.

About A Better View Adult Family Home

A Better View Adult Family Home sits in a scenic and quiet part of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, with peaceful views that many find comforting, and the place is known for its strong family-style atmosphere where people share shared living spaces instead of long halls or big, busy rooms, and the home is licensed for up to 6 residents, so people get to know each other pretty well, with staff paying close attention to each person's daily needs and habits, whether someone's needs fit assisted living, memory care for things like Alzheimer's disease, or short-term respite care when families just need a hand for a time. This care home has six assisted living units and a total of six licensed beds, which means it's much smaller than most big retirement places, and that can help create a quiet community. The home welcomes both cats and dogs, which is rare for care settings, and that can mean a lot to people who feel at home with their pets nearby.

The house sits within a mostly middle-income area, and with a surrounding population of about 6,000, it doesn't feel crowded, so things stay calm, and people can walk outside to the yard or look out at nature without much noise, which a lot of folks like as they get older. A Better View Adult Family Home charges around $3,462 per month for residential care, which tends to cost less than a traditional nursing home, and they don't take Medicare unless they're certified for it, so you'll want to be clear about payment. They've reached an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, so they've stuck to proper quality standards according to that accreditation and that helps families feel a little easier about the care provided.

The home's staff help with things like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, focusing on treating residents with as much dignity and independence as possible, and care is available for both ongoing long-term needs and short-term stays. They plan meals carefully to fit different diets, and there are a few cozy, shared spaces like a living room and dining room where everybody can relax or talk, which can help with loneliness that often comes with aging. Community features include transportation, parking, and even complimentary rides for residents, which can really help when doctor trips or errands come up.

A Better View Adult Family Home covers several areas in and around Spokane County, with service to communities like Spokane Valley, Deer Park, Chattaroy, Colbert, Vancouver, and Ritzville, and has offered both independent living and extra help for memory care when needs change. The rooms are set up to fit seniors, with needed safety features and privacy, and the home also supports hobbies, activities, and social programs to help keep people active and connected, though it stays focused on simple comforts over luxury extras. Overall, the home is built for people who want personal care in a small, home-like setting rather than a big facility, and families often say they appreciate how residents can live with dignity and a bit more independence, even if their health changes.
