    About Mary Ann Manor

Mary Ann Manor sits in Follansbee, West Virginia, and serves as a residential care home with space for 14 residents, so things don't feel crowded, and folks can get to know each other well enough if they want company, or keep mainly to themselves if that's their way, because some just like simple living spaces and a little companionship rather than a lot of help. The place feels warm and inviting, a bit like an old bed and breakfast, with rooms that people fill up with their own furniture and family pictures if they want, and you'll see wood floors, pastel walls, and lots of windows, especially in the semi-private rooms. The whole house got upgraded fire alarms and sprinklers, a big generator in case the power goes out, and a front porch that's now an enclosed visiting area where families sit and visit for a while, especially on a Sunday afternoon when the sun's just right.

A team of 16, including three nurse's aides who also cook, handles daily care, and Rebecca Lund, who's a registered nurse with 15 years of nursing behind her, leads things as Director of Nursing. Staff offer three homemade meals every day with special diets for folks with diabetes or other needs, and the nurse's aides take care of the cooking, laundry, housekeeping, and helping with showers, dressing, transfers, and other daily tasks as needed. There's 24-hour supervision, with trained staff for safety, as well as a whole-house emergency alert and security system. You'll find fully furnished apartments, two-bedroom options, private bathrooms, and cable, internet, and phone in the rooms, along with places to walk in the garden, a book room, recreation rooms, and an area with a hot tub and steam room for folks who want it.

Mary Ann Manor has a full calendar of scheduled activities-movie nights, social evenings, community-sponsored events, music therapy, animal visits, fitness and craft programs, and tabletop games, plus group meals in the dining room, so nobody has to eat alone unless they want to. They also offer counseling services and support for co-occurring disorders and addiction if needed, as well as memory care for those who need it, and respite care for folks whose regular caregivers need a break-sometimes for a few days, sometimes longer. Residents can arrange rides for doctor visits, errands, and even to churches or spiritual facilities, so people stay connected to the outside world.

The team works with doctors and health providers to coordinate care and help with medications, and the building is licensed by the West Virginia Department of Social Services. They've made it easy for people to move in, helping with the transition so folks settle in with less worry, and keep up with maintenance so nobody has to fuss over cleaning or repairs. There are both private and shared rooms, plenty of daylight, and common areas for gathering, plus a nice garden outside for a little quiet time. With support for different physical or memory needs, incontinence care, meal help, and arrangements for all sorts of health and activity preferences, Mary Ann Manor aims to keep people as independent as possible while still stepping up when more help's needed. You'll find more about them on their website at maryannmanor.com.
