    About Willows Center

Willows Center sits over on 723 Summers St in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and brings together nursing home care, in-home care, and senior support under one roof, and while it's got a mission to help seniors and families find resources and stay connected, it really does an honest job focusing on health and wellness day to day, so folks can expect skilled nursing and rehabilitation after a hospital stay, long-term care, short-term rehab, memory care for folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, and all sorts of therapy, like physical, occupational, or speech, with nurse practitioners and physicians around and a whole group of staff-Christopher McBee as the Executive Director and Dr. James Toothman as Medical Director-working to build care plans that fit the individual, and you'll see them taking Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, plus they've been given the AHCA Silver Quality Award for their care standards, which just means they really try to get things right. The building itself's got a smoke-free environment with comfortable common rooms, fireplace in the living room, and scenic views out the windows, plus gardens, courtyards, and big activity rooms for recreation, cultural, and social activities, and for folks who enjoy nature or maybe a quiet space to unwind, there's space for family gatherings in private dining rooms, room for pets, and a café with always-available menu options in case someone doesn't feel like set mealtimes, and for memory care residents there's an alarm system, so safety stays front and center. For daily living, there's restaurant-style dining, private and semi-private rooms, private hospice rooms for end-of-life care, air conditioning and individual climate controls, wireless internet, computer access, laundry, housekeeping, and mail service, with pharmacy delivery and even podiatry, wound care, x-ray, pain control, medication management, dietary guidance, colostomy care, and IV therapy among the medical services, with a strong focus on palliative and hospice care too, all in a place that keeps things as home-like as it can. The staff pay attention to discharge planning and help with the transition home through their transitional care unit, they manage case plans and treatment plans, and the facility offers memory care programs, pet therapy, and a fitness room for strength and mobility improvement, alongside garden strolls for those who enjoy the outdoors, plus there's coordinated transportation for trips outside. Willows Center's listed in the Alliance for Care at Home directory too, so for folks who want in-home care services, or Medicaid HCBS, or just need a short stay for rehab, there are options, and if help's needed for orthopedic rehab after joint replacement or amputation, or for wound care, they handle that as well. They offer lots of recreational and religious activities and keep social connections going, with spaces for beauty and barber services, and rooms designed to give everyone privacy and comfort, so for anyone needing skilled nursing, short-term or long-term care, respite for caregivers, or a little help moving from hospital back home, Willows Center does its best to meet a wide range of needs for aging adults and their families.
