    Lonely residents, coercive hospice pressure

    I placed a loved one in this new facility and have mixed, mostly negative, impressions. The rooms, living room, dining room and outdoor yard access are nice and the room layouts are good, but activity is very low and ambulatory residents seem lonely. Care itself was OK, yet management felt inexperienced, COVID was mishandled (manager and staff left), and several deaths occurred in the community. I observed many bedridden patients, no diabetic-related medical services, cleanliness problems, and what I felt were coercive hospice referrals - including pressure to use certain hospices and threats about bed removal. I also worried about profit vs. nonprofit status, unclear staff employment arrangements, and unreliable website/social links. Verify any hospice referral with the physician who cared for your loved one - I would warn others to be cautious.
