      Caring staff but facility issues

I placed my mom here for a brief stay and overall I'm pleased - the staff were caring and consistent (Darly was amazing), my mom adjusted well, enjoyed social activities and the lovely grounds, and I felt she was well cared for. The place is well-kept and convenient, but we had room maintenance issues (cracked closet door; hospital bed didn't work until unplugged), there's no air conditioning, and we were charged extras despite an "all-inclusive" claim. Despite that, I would recommend it.

      Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is positive, with multiple reviewers emphasizing the quality of care and the compassion of the staff. Caregivers are repeatedly described as caring, attentive, and consistent; one staff member (Darly) received specific praise, and several reviewers said their loved ones adjusted well and were very well cared for. The facility is recommended by reviewers and noted as comfortable for families visiting from out of state, suggesting it presents a reassuring environment for relatives who cannot be nearby frequently.

Staff and care quality stand out as the strongest theme. Reviewers consistently call attention to compassionate, personalized care and reliable staffing levels. The presence of consistent caregivers appears to help residents adjust and provides families with confidence. Multiple comments about staff being caring and friendly indicate good day-to-day interactions, and the specific positive mention of a caregiver by name underscores that staff performance is a salient and appreciated feature.

Facilities and maintenance show a mixed picture. Several reviewers described the facility as well-kept with a very nice set-up and connected outdoor spaces that provide social opportunities. At the same time, concrete maintenance concerns were raised: a cracked closet door and an initially non-functioning hospital bed were reported. The bed issue was resolved after being unplugged and plugged back in, which suggests the problem was operational and fixable but also reveals an avoidable oversight in equipment checks. Another recurring facilities concern is the lack of air conditioning; at least one reviewer specifically noted no AC, which could be a comfort or health issue depending on climate and season.

Operational transparency and billing are another notable area of concern. One reviewer pointed out a discrepancy between the facility’s "all-inclusive" claim and the presence of extra charges, which raises questions about clarity in pricing and what services are truly included. Families considering the community should seek explicit written details on fees and what is covered to avoid surprises.

Activities, environment, and convenience receive positive mentions. Reviewers note social opportunities and connected backyards, which imply small-group or outdoor interaction options that help residents stay engaged. The facility is described as convenient and friendly, making it easier for visiting family members, including those from out of state, to feel comfortable during stays. There were no detailed comments about dining or clinical programming in these summaries, so those areas are neither highlighted nor criticized in the available feedback.

A final cautionary note comes from the mention that one resident was hospitalized after a brief stay. The reviews do not provide details about the cause or whether it was related to the facility's care, so this should be treated as an isolated datapoint rather than evidence of systemic failure. Prospective families should still ask about the facility’s clinical oversight, emergency procedures, and hospitalization rates to get a clearer sense of medical responsiveness.

In summary, reviewers paint Family Style Care II as a caring, well-staffed community with personalized attention and a pleasant environment that makes families feel comfortable. Strong interpersonal care is the clearest strength. Prospective residents and families should, however, investigate maintenance procedures, equipment checks, climate control (air conditioning), and billing transparency before committing, to ensure expectations about comfort, safety, and costs are fully aligned with the facility’s practices.
