      Kind staff, dated facility, unsuitable

I toured this lovely, large, very clean home and was impressed by the kind, attentive, and compassionate staff and engaged owner - prompt communication, residents who seem to enjoy life, and a well-run, homey atmosphere. The facility is dated, one bath vanity was broken, there's no nighttime call system, and the house effectively closes after 6pm, so my father wouldn't be comfortable and it's too far for my brother. Overall I trust the staff's care and commitment.

      Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews of Rose of Sharon is strongly positive, driven primarily by consistently praised staff, a clean and homey environment, and responsive management. Multiple reviewers emphasize the compassion and attentiveness of caregivers and the owner; words like "caring," "kind," "gentle," and "wonderful" recur throughout, and there are specific mentions of staff going above and beyond (for example, a provider described as willing to "keep her until she passes"). Management and ownership are also noted as engaged and communicative, with reviewers pointing to prompt communication and a willingness to work with families to improve residents' experiences.

Care quality and staff performance are the clearest strengths. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as attentive to resident well‑being, adaptable, and committed. The owner is singled out as compassionate and engaged, which reinforces the sense of individualized attention. Several reviewers had very positive touring experiences and remarked that residents "seem to enjoy life," suggesting the day‑to‑day atmosphere supports resident satisfaction. The facility is also described as having a high priority on health and safety, and staff responsiveness to concerns is highlighted as a positive operational trait.

Facility and physical plant feedback is more mixed. On the positive side, the house is described as very clean, tidy, well‑maintained, and homey—a "lovely large house" in a pleasant neighborhood. However, reviewers also call the building dated and point to specific maintenance concerns, such as a broken bath vanity. More significant safety/operations concerns mentioned by multiple reviewers include the absence of a nighttime call system and the house closing after 6pm, which translates into limited access or visiting hours and potential gaps in night‑time monitoring. Those features may be important considerations for families who require continuous alarm/call systems or late‑evening access.

Suitability and logistics show some variability. While many reviewers felt the environment was well run and appropriate for residents, at least one reviewer noted their father would not be comfortable there, and another said the location was too far from their brother. This indicates the community may be an excellent match for many families seeking compassionate, small‑house care, but it may not meet every prospective resident's needs or preferences—whether due to distance, the home's physical condition, or individual comfort levels.

In summary, Rose of Sharon's reviews paint a picture of a small, home‑like facility with exceptionally caring staff and engaged management, delivering high levels of personal attention and a clean, pleasant environment. The primary tradeoffs are an older, somewhat dated building with occasional maintenance issues and operational limitations such as no nighttime call system and restricted access after 6pm. Prospective families should weigh the strong, individualized caregiving and positive resident atmosphere against the facility's physical limitations and access/safety features; for many, the compassionate staff and responsiveness of management will outweigh the cons, but for those needing modern safety systems or late‑evening access, these are important considerations to confirm during a visit.

      About Rose of Sharon

Rose of Sharon Assisted Living provides care in Greenwood Village and several other areas in Colorado, including Centennial, Littleton, and Aurora, and there are houses like Yukon House, Washington House, Sherman House, Valentia House, and Weaver House, with Yukon House being a large, pretty dated house that's kept quite clean by the staff, who really do show care for residents as they handle the everyday needs and keep a friendly, homelike feel. The houses close down for the night around 6 pm when most residents go to bed, so there isn't a call system for getting nighttime help, and caregivers then head downstairs until morning. The community has both assisted living and independent living apartments, studio, single room, and two-bedroom options, and there are nursing home rooms that are private or semi-private. Residents get help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting from personal care assistants, while nurses on staff provide medical support like wound care, medication help, and even wound care or podiatry, so seniors who might need more medical help can stay there. For those with memory loss, there are memory care units in the homes, and security features keep people safe if they wander or get confused, while families can count on guidance about long-term care, caregiving at home, and using Long-term Care Insurance, because the management helps people understand their options. The community accepts long-term care insurance and offers respite care and hospice if needed, so families can get a break or have support at the end of life. Some homes allow pets, and smoking isn't allowed indoors. People living there can enjoy nutritious meals with flexible dining, housekeeping help, and features like washers and dryers, safety items like sprinkler systems, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and game or activities rooms, and kitchens where some residents like to prepare their own snacks or meals. Residents have access to outdoor spaces, gardens, and activity rooms, plus walking paths and parks nearby, so they can enjoy the outdoors and even short hikes. To keep people involved and active, staff put on social activities, arts and crafts, recreation, education programs, fitness classes, and health and wellness events, and companionship is an important part of life there, so residents often make new connections with each other. There's occupational therapy and transport for getting to outside appointments when needed, and staff offer wheelchair help for those who need it getting around. The houses have a community management system that helps keep track of care, and rooms have private baths, with the focus being a more residential environment rather than a traditional facility feel. The place stands out for its group residential setting, the level of support for both daily living and special memory care, and the way staff encourage independence while offering expert guidance.
