    Best decision for my retirement

I've lived here for years and it's been the best decision of my retirement. The dining is outstanding, the units are spacious and well appointed, and the resort-like grounds, valet and transportation make life very easy. There's a nonstop roster of fitness, cultural and educational programs and the social scene helped me make wonderful new friends. Staff are professional, caring and responsive, and the on-site continuum of care gives me peace of mind-it's exceptional, though it comes at a premium.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews for Vi at Silverstone are overwhelmingly positive and consistently emphasize a luxury, resort-like living experience combined with comprehensive continuing care. Reviewers repeatedly praise the property’s aesthetics, dining, programming, and the strength of its clinical services, while the principal recurring concern centers on cost. The dominant narrative is that Vi at Silverstone offers an active, culturally rich lifestyle with the reassurance of a health-care continuum, making it especially appealing to well-traveled, educated residents seeking an upscale, long-term community.

Facilities and location: The community is frequently described as beautiful, modern, and meticulously maintained, with landscaped grounds, attractive common spaces, and a campus-like open architecture. Physical descriptions in the reviews mention a lodge-style complex with a four-story building, roughly 200 apartments and about 80 villas/duplexes; unit types range from studios to large two-bedroom or roughly 2000 sq ft villas. Amenities noted across reviews include multiple swimming pools, a larger gym, indoor pool, demonstration kitchen, library, putting green, underground valet parking, and extensive common areas that support social interaction. The location is highlighted as convenient—near Phoenix, shopping, theater and music venues, and with easy access to hospitals and medical facilities.

Care quality and clinical services: Clinical staff consistently receive high marks. Nursing and therapy teams are described as knowledgeable, professional, enthusiastic, and helpful, and the assisted-living and memory-care offerings are viewed as robust and reassuring. Reviews often reference the Life Care/Continuing Care model positively, noting informative presentations on care categories and financial benefits, and the peace of mind that comes with assurance of future health care. Many reviewers who required or used care services reported attentive, compassionate treatment and professional management of medical needs.

Staff and management: Most accounts portray staff as warm, friendly, and resident-oriented, treating residents like family. Management and leadership are frequently described as professional, responsive, and respectful—promptly addressing requests and providing thorough tours and information. Several reviews specifically praise proactive resident outreach, a helpful Resident Ambassador program, and staff who go above and beyond. A minority of comments note that staff can be busy, sometimes slow to return calls, or in a few instances unwelcoming; a few reviewers mention scheduling or communication lapses. These negative mentions are relatively rare compared with the many reports of positive interactions.

Dining and culinary offerings: Dining is a standout strength in the reviews. Multiple dining rooms with different menus, a fine-dining atmosphere, and a talented culinary team are repeatedly highlighted. Residents mention fresh breads and desserts made on-site, changing menus, plentiful and varied food options, and high-quality service. Some reviewers use strong language such as “outstanding,” “gourmet,” or “top-grade chef.” A couple of isolated remarks describe food as merely “OK,” but these are not a common theme.

Activities, social life, and culture: Vi at Silverstone is repeatedly depicted as highly social and activity-rich—some reviewers liken the vibe to a luxury cruise ship. The community supports a wide spectrum of offerings, including fitness classes (hiking, yoga, tai chi, pool classes), arts and cultural programming (vocal music, painting, acting club), competitive teams (swim, golf), educational lectures, book clubs, and many small-group activities (bridge, scrabble, card games, bingo). The social environment is described as congenial and diverse, with well-educated and well-traveled residents who engage in lively cultural and social events. Several reviewers emphasized that this active lifestyle supports happiness and long-term satisfaction.

Financial and contract considerations: Cost and contract structure emerge as the main consistent drawback. Multiple reviewers stress the high upfront entrance fees (one reviewer referenced roughly $300,000 as an example), non-refundable fees for some contract types, and generally expensive monthly fees. While many reviewers say the price is worth it for the amenities and care continuity, others explicitly state that it is not affordable or is overpriced for what it offers. The buy-in model and large entrance fee are therefore critical decision points for prospective residents and families.

Notable patterns and caveats: A few reviewers mentioned temporary reductions in activities during virus precautions, and others reported a quieter or sometimes “sterile” hospital-like vibe—suggesting that individual experiences can vary based on location within the campus, timing (e.g., during pandemics), or staff assignment. Accessibility concerns and a confusing layout were cited by some new residents, indicating that orientation and wayfinding could be improved for newcomers. Pet restrictions (dogs not allowed in some units) and the non-refundable nature of certain fee structures also surfaced as recurring but secondary issues.

Conclusion: In sum, Vi at Silverstone is portrayed as a high-end continuing care retirement community that excels at cuisine, campus amenities, clinical care, and an active, culturally rich resident life. Reviews indicate strong staff performance and long-term resident satisfaction, reinforced by an effective Life Care model. The primary limitation is cost—significant entrance fees and monthly charges—that may place the community out of reach for many prospective residents. A few operational issues (occasional communication lapses, confusing layout, pet restrictions) appear in a minority of reviews. For seniors and families who can afford a premium buy-in community and prioritize dining, broad programming, social engagement, and the security of on-site health care, reviewers overwhelmingly recommend Vi at Silverstone; those who are cost-sensitive or require pet-friendly policies should investigate alternatives or seek clarification on contract terms and refundability.

    About Vi at Silverstone

Vi at Silverstone sits on a large 165-acre campus in Scottsdale, Arizona, and gives seniors a place to live that feels open and upscale, with sweeping Southwest views and local art throughout the community, and folks here range from healthy, active seniors to those who might need more help with daily living or even memory care or skilled nursing, and there's a strong team of nurses and caregivers on staff around the clock, plus a doctor on call and visiting medical professionals like speech, occupational, physical therapists, a dentist, podiatrist, and nurse services, so residents can stay comfortable and safe. The property's Wellness Center is open weekdays for nurse check-ups, and they offer Wellness Advantage therapy, fitness classes like Tai Chi and Zumba, plus a state-of-the-art gym with TechnoGym equipment if you like staying fit, and swimming's easy with both a salt-filtered heated pool, a hot tub, and water exercise classes to keep joints limber and spirits high. Meals are provided daily, with different options including vegetarian dishes, and folks sit down for anything from casual bistro bites to fine dining, with new seasonal menus popping up, and there's a culinary team that focuses hard on good taste and nutrition, and even though meals are served, people can still personalize their homes since there's over 20 floor plans to choose from, and services like weekly housekeeping, laundry for linens and towels, and scheduled maintenance make things easy.

There are lots of social and common areas both indoors and out, where people spend time together in spaces like card rooms, a movie theater, a bar, and golfing areas, or they can pop by the spa and salon, or stop at the pet-friendly, fully enclosed dog park with a drinking fountain for dogs up to 35 pounds, and there's valet parking and a garage for residents, plus transportation services for shopping, outings, visits to Mayo Clinic Hospital nearby, and appointments, which keeps life moving. They have both memory support and assisted living options with individualized care plans, so those with Alzheimer's and dementia get the help they need and spend time in a safe space where staff focus on meaningful activities and daily living, offering help with transfers, medications, bathing, and incontinence care, all to maintain independence as long as possible. The activities calendar's full with things that are designed to keep people learning, moving, laughing, and meeting neighbors, and there's always support available if someone needs standby assistance moving, with staff awake 24 hours for emergencies. The leadership team looks after both the property and residents' wellbeing, working to make sure everyone has a good, safe, and social day, and even with all these services around, pets are still welcome, and those little thoughtful touches, like devotions offsite and easy access to local entertainment, all add up, so while Vi at Silverstone offers a wide range of retirement living, from independent and assisted living to memory care and skilled nursing all under the continuing care retirement community model, the focus stays on dignity, health, and letting people get the most out of each day.
