    Filthy understaffed facility causing death

I placed my father here and it was a nightmare. The building is dirty and smells of urine, severely understaffed so meds were missed, residents left in urine/feces, falls and transfers were mishandled, and communication was nonexistent (no room phone, no discharge info, no callbacks). Belongings went missing and there are alleged unauthorized POA/insurance issues; my loved one developed a serious infection/sepsis and died while care was inadequate. A few staff (Monique, Janine, Kate) were kind, but overall I would never send anyone here - I've called for NYS audits and urge families to avoid this facility.

They offer a good range of medical and therapy services because some folks need wound care or help after surgery, while others are recovering from a stroke, joint replacement, respiratory problems, or need help managing pain and infections, and there are even special dementia care services and programs for amputee recovery and ostomy care. The center has areas like therapy rooms and patient activity spaces, and you'll see things like a wander safety system for security, private or semi-private rooms, free cable TV, phone service, a beautician and barber, personalized menus, therapeutic recreation activities, and 24-hour guest and concierge services to help make life a little more comfortable and less lonely. There's always a full-time physician right there, along with nurses round the clock, and therapy staff who handle physical, occupational, and speech therapy for all sorts of rehab and recovery, and the staff also take care of medication management, laboratory and diagnostic needs, IV antibiotic therapy, oxygen, wound-VAC, palliative care, infection control, and they'll even offer dental, eye, and foot care when folks need it. There are programs for stroke or joint replacement recovery, nutritional counseling, post-surgical care, and support for those who need help with mobility or daily life, and they've got state-of-the-art equipment to help residents get better or stay comfortable. They do their best to make the place feel friendly and home-like, and you'll see newspapers and magazines to read, meals made to order, and activities that let people spend time with others or just relax as they like, all backed by a staff who know what they're doing and are always looking out for the residents' safety and comfort.
