    Beautiful spotless caring maintenance-free community

I've lived here nearly two years and it's been the best decision - beautiful, spotless campus and a maintenance-free lifestyle (no grass to mow, no snow to plow). The staff are professional, caring, attentive, and go above and beyond-they solve health and repair issues and make me feel safe and valued. Lots of activities (bingo, swimming, shuffleboard, live performances), delicious meals, and a family-like community - my dog loves it too. It's a bit pricey but well worth it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the reviews is strongly positive, with recurrent praise focused on staff, cleanliness, social life, and responsiveness. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize the quality of care provided by a caring, attentive, professional and dedicated team. Many comments describe staff as friendly, accommodating and willing to go 'above and beyond,' and several reviews call out staff as problem solvers who swiftly address health concerns, maintenance issues, and residents’ emotional needs. The tone suggests residents feel both safe and valued, and at least one long-term resident (nearly two years) reports expectations being exceeded.

The facility itself is frequently described as attractive and well-maintained. Reviewers note both interior and exterior areas are clean and appealing, and the campus is described as beautiful. The maintenance-free lifestyle is highlighted as a practical benefit — specific conveniences such as not having to mow grass or shovel snow are mentioned as important positives. Maintenance responsiveness is also praised; repairs are handled promptly which supports a sense of reliability and reduces resident stress.

Social life and activities are prominent strengths. Multiple reviewers cite a wide variety of activities that support engagement and reduce loneliness: bingo, shuffleboard, swimming, live performances, and many other programs. The community atmosphere is characterized as family-like, which contributes to social wellbeing and high satisfaction. One review explicitly states that loneliness was solved, indicating effective programming and opportunities for social connection.

Dining receives positive attention as well, with 'delicious food' and specific praise for breakfast. Coupled with the strong staffing and activity offerings, the dining experience appears to contribute meaningfully to overall resident satisfaction. The facility is also noted as pet-friendly (a resident’s dog is happily mentioned), which can be an important factor for prospective residents.

The most consistent concern across the summaries is cost: several comments call the community 'very pricey' despite others describing it as 'good value' or 'high satisfaction.' This indicates that while many residents feel the services justify the cost, prospective residents should be prepared for a higher price point and evaluate whether the amenities and level of care match their budget. No other recurring negative themes (service lapses, safety issues, major facility shortcomings) appear in these summaries.

In summary, the reviews portray Homewood Living Spring House as a well-kept, activity-rich, and professionally staffed senior living community with a strong emphasis on personalized service and resident wellbeing. It offers appealing common areas and grounds, responsive maintenance and healthcare support, varied social and recreational programming, good dining, and a community atmosphere that helps alleviate loneliness. The primary trade-off noted by reviewers is cost — the community may be expensive for some — but many residents consider it worth the price and describe moving there as a very good or even the best decision for their retirement lifestyle.

    About Homewood Living Spring House

Homewood Living Spring House sits on 47 acres in Bedford County and offers a continuing care retirement community where people over 55 can choose between cottage-style homes with attached garages or spacious apartments. The community has grown from a small cottage neighborhood into something bigger, now including a community center and an apartment building, so the place feels lived-in and active, and you notice things have changed and improved over the years. There's a total of 82 cottages and 46 apartment homes with studio and one-bedroom layouts, so people find what fits them best, and those who want options or care will likely find something that suits their needs, whether that's independent living, assisted living, memory care, or personal care services.

People like the strong sense of community here, which shows in the high 9.9 out of 10 rating, and with more than 100 residents, there's always someone to talk to or share a meal with in the community dining room or at the Spring House Café, where chef-prepared meals are served all day. Assisted living services help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, medications, and transfers, and staff are on hand 24 hours a day; everyone gets emergency alert systems for safety, so residents and their families worry less. The rooms are available furnished or unfurnished with plenty of chances to customize from a list of standard features, and there's help moving in, housekeeping, laundry, and different meal choices depending on dietary needs.

The Victoria House At Spring House Estates is another community here for those who need a little more support, and there are a total of 32 beds for people needing more hands-on care. For the active folks, there's an indoor saltwater pool and spa, fitness center, bocce court, horseshoes pit, walking paths, art room, activity room with billiards and Wii, a barber and salon, a garden, and places like the picnic pavilion and lounges for group gatherings. Residents can use the library, computer area, convenience store, meeting rooms, and enjoy both resident-led and community-sponsored activities, from arts and movie nights to educational events like downsizing workshops or travel sessions for seniors, and there's even an Alzheimer's support group.

Everything is arranged for a maintenance-free lifestyle, right down to having on-site parking, transportation services, mailrooms, and a dedicated team for relocation or real estate services. Homewood is connected to the Homewood Retirement Center, which has over 80 years of experience, and they work to provide both freedom and support as needs change with age, so residents here can stay put if they need more help. The non-discrimination policy makes sure everyone feels welcome, and the community's location near a hospital and medical offices gives added peace of mind. The sales and marketing team provides tours and answers questions for new residents, and there's a photo gallery so people can get a look at what daily life's like before coming in. This community sets up an environment where seniors have a good mix of independence, care, and chances to be social, creative, and active.
