    Beautiful campus, excellent staff, pricey

I toured this beautiful, well-kept campus and felt immediately at home - grounds, benches and firepits are tranquil and everything is very clean. The staff are professional, friendly and caring with low turnover; dining is restaurant-quality (self-serve salad bar, top-notch waitstaff) and there are lots of activities including Parkinson's-friendly classes. Apartments are spacious with balcony hill views, laundry/garage options and a chapel, but memory care is very expensive (~$9,000/mo) and overall pricing is high (independent ~ $2,300/mo, assisted ~ $7,800/mo) with upfront fees and extra meal charges. It's pricey, but for me the exceptional staff, food and atmosphere make it worth considering.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive with consistent praise for staff, cleanliness, dining, and the campus environment, balanced by repeated concerns about cost and a few practical limitations.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers overwhelmingly emphasize the quality and compassion of the staff. Phrases like "friendly," "caring," "personable," and "professional and courteous" recur. Many reviews note low staff turnover and that residents are "well taken care of," which supports continuity of care and relationship-building. Dementia and hospice care are highlighted as compassionate and family-centered, with caregiver support available. Several reviewers specifically call out informative and accommodating staff, suggesting good communication and responsiveness to resident needs.

Facilities and maintenance: Redstone Highlands is consistently described as a beautiful, well-maintained campus with attractive landscaping, tranquil grounds, benches, and firepits. The presence of a chapel and thoughtfully decorated common areas contributes to a home-like atmosphere. Apartments are described as spacious and neat, with options that include balconies with hill views, bedroom-den layouts, and garage parking. Housekeeping every other week, in-apartment laundry service, and floor laundry facilities on each floor are noted as convenience features. The facility is repeatedly called "very clean," which is a frequently cited strength.

Dining: Dining receives high marks across reviews. Many visitors describe the food as "fabulous," with restaurant-like lunches, a self-service salad bar, and top-notch waitstaff. The dining area is characterized as elegant and accommodating. At the same time, a practical limitation appears: some reviewers mention a limited meal plan and extra charges for certain meals, indicating that total food costs can be higher than the base fee or that meal inclusions vary by plan.

Activities and social life: Most reviewers report a robust and varied activities program — examples include card games, Zumba, Parkinson's-friendly classes, shopping trips, field trips, recreation rooms, and a library. These offerings support active lifestyles and social engagement. However, there are inconsistencies: a few reviewers felt the library was small or that activities were limited compared with other communities. This suggests residents’ experiences of programming may vary by interest, rotation of activities, or expectations.

Cost and contract details: Price is the most frequently cited downside. Multiple summaries call Redstone Highlands "expensive," with specific reported figures: independent living around $2,300/month, assisted living about $7,800/month, and memory care roughly $9,000/month. Additional concerns include an upfront fee and extra charges for some meals. Several reviewers framed the higher price as "worth it" given the level of service and quality, while others found it prohibitive. The presence of a wait list also indicates demand that may affect availability and pricing.

Limitations and visitor experience: Beyond cost, practical limitations mentioned by reviewers include the absence of amenities like a pool and occasional restrictions on visiting during viral outbreaks (reports of visitation being restricted to outside windows and phone communication). Some prospective residents were unable to tour certain unit types (for example, two-bedroom units), and a couple of comments described the community as feeling "institutional" or "not as nice as other senior places," indicating that individual expectations and comparisons affect perception.

Overall impression: Redstone Highlands is portrayed as a high-quality, well-run senior living community with strong staffing, excellent dining, a clean and attractive campus, and a wide array of amenities and activities. The primary trade-offs are cost and a few logistical limitations (limited meal plan options, no pool, occasional visitation restrictions, and unit tour availability). For people or families prioritizing care continuity, compassionate memory/hospice services, upscale dining, and a beautifully maintained environment, many reviewers conclude the premium cost is justified. For those with tighter budgets or different amenity priorities, the price and extra fees may be a significant deterrent. The reviews suggest a solid reputation and high resident satisfaction overall, with cost and specific amenity expectations being the main differentiators in prospective residents' decisions.
