    Well maintained clean friendly community

I've lived here four years and I'm very pleased with my decision. Management is personable and responsive, maintenance is timely, and units are clean and well-maintained (my one-bed, 680 sq ft was repainted and carpeted). Beautiful grounds, friendly residents, lots of activities, exercise and computer rooms, a large lobby, secure key-fob/intercom entry, and reliable transportation (they'll cover a cab if the shuttle isn't available) make it a well-kept, comfortable community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Spring Ridge Senior presents as a well-kept independent-living community with a number of attractive physical and social attributes. Reviewers consistently describe clean grounds and interiors, timely unit updates (paint and carpeting), and energy-efficient units that contribute to low utility bills. Unit sizes, such as a one-bedroom around 680 sq ft, are highlighted as spacious. Common areas—an expansive lobby, exercise room, and a computer room—support resident activity and social interaction, and the location and surrounding environment are repeatedly characterized as pleasant.

Staff and daily operations receive mixed but generally positive notice. Many reviewers describe management and front-line staff as personable and accessible, with maintenance requests handled promptly. The community runs an active calendar of events and transportation services; there are organized activities and a shuttle program, with taxi coverage arranged when shuttle service is not available. These services, together with a stable population of long-term residents, contribute to a sense of community and many recommendations from current residents and families.

Dining and amenities reflect the facility’s independent-living model rather than a full-service dining operation. Residents typically prepare their own meals, with occasional communal dinners or luncheons held monthly. For prospective residents seeking included, daily meal-service, this model may feel limited. Similarly, recreational amenity coverage is generally adequate but not comprehensive: there is no dedicated on-site pool, though community pool access is available nearby.

Notable concerns cluster around cost and security/management consistency. A number of reviewers cite the community as expensive, which, combined with the primarily self-cooked meal model and some missing on-site amenities, may represent a perceived value trade-off. Separately, several accounts raise issues with building-access and security procedures (for example, repeated lock changes and related disruptions) and characterize management’s handling of certain safety-related matters as inconsistent. These points have affected some residents’ sense of comfort and should be explored during a visit and through direct questions to management about current security protocols and incident follow-up processes.

In summary, Spring Ridge Senior appears to offer a clean, community-oriented independent-living environment with responsive staff, solid maintenance practices, and useful common-area amenities. Prospective residents and families should weigh the higher cost against the independent-living service model (limited meal service and no on-site pool) and seek clear, current information from management about security procedures and how safety concerns are investigated and resolved before committing.

    About Spring Ridge Senior

Spring Ridge Senior is a senior living community in Frederick, MD, designed for people aged 62 and older, where residents can choose between one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments that come spacious and bright, and they're encouraged to bring their own furniture and decorations from home to make their space feel comfortable and familiar, and the staff, known for being friendly, helpful, and kind, are around to help with daily needs like medication, bathing, dressing, and other tasks, and there's always someone available because supervision is around the clock with licensed professionals, and folks get the chance to join a range of social, educational, fitness, and recreational activities so they can stay busy, meet others, and build friendships, and you'll find amenities like nutritious meals planned by chefs, a full-service salon, transportation and parking, pet-friendly policies, and scheduled events each week that try to cover everything from mental games to physical exercise, and there's also support for those who want independent living, assisted living, and even special memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and they provide home care through trained aides who help with daily routines and non-medical needs, and they try to keep life convenient by doing things like handling maintenance, meals, and other chores, and the application process requires things like a driver's license or ID, Social Security card, proof of income, bank statements, references, and a non-refundable fee, usually $25 to $50, and rent can be fixed at a lower rate than regular apartments in the area or it can be income-based, generally about 30% of monthly income, because Spring Ridge Senior is a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Community, and open house events and downloadable applications are available, and the community manager is Charmaine E. Jefferson, who's available during most weekdays and by appointment on Sundays, so if someone can't reach the office by phone or email, trying in person is suggested, and longtime residents say the staff help create a comfortable and welcoming place for both residents and their families, and the community has received awards for care, activities, support, and friendliness, and people get perks like chef-prepared meals, transportation, and plenty of options to stay busy or relax, but there aren't any unique names for programs or meetups that have been made public, and while brochures and floor plans are given out, there's no long list of all services, care types, or policies, but overall, Spring Ridge Senior aims to support people who want a safe, convenient, and social place to live as they age.
