    Pleasant community with security concerns

I've lived here four years and overall I'm pleased - the property is clean, well-kept, and the grounds are beautiful with friendly residents and a real sense of community. Management and staff are personable and responsive, maintenance is timely, units have been updated (repaint/new carpet), and energy efficiency keeps my electric bill low. Great location and amenities (exercise/computer rooms, large lobby, nearby community pool, transportation with cab backup); residents cook their own meals and there are occasional monthly events. My main issues are security and management handling (repeated lock changes and loss of peace) and the cost, but I still recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is largely positive, with residents and visitors repeatedly describing Spring Ridge Senior as a pleasant, well‑kept independent living community with a strong sense of neighborliness. Multiple comments highlight friendly residents, beautiful surroundings, and a clean, well‑maintained property. Practical positives that recur are the building’s energy efficiency (resulting in low electric bills), spacious one‑bedroom units (about 680 sq ft), and visible unit updates such as fresh paint and new carpeting. The community’s location is noted as favorable, and several reviewers say they are pleased with their decision to live there or recommend the community.

Facilities and amenities receive generally good marks. The property features an exercise room, a computer room, and a large lobby that residents seem to appreciate. Although there is no on‑site pool, reviewers point out that a community pool is available nearby. Secure building access with key fob and intercom systems is in place and is repeatedly mentioned as a positive feature. The combination of these amenities and the clean, well‑maintained grounds supports the impression of a comfortable independent living setting.

Staff, activities, and services are another strong theme. Multiple reviewers describe staff and management as personable, easy to talk to, and responsive. Maintenance timeliness is specifically praised, and residents note active programming and transportation support — a shuttle is provided and, when it isn’t available, a cab is paid for. There are periodic community meals or luncheons (reported as occasional/monthly), and overall activity offerings are described as plentiful, contributing to a sense of community engagement.

However, there are notable concerns that prospective residents should weigh. Cost is a consistent downside — several reviews simply call the community "expensive." Dining options are limited in the sense that residents typically cook their own meals and the community only hosts occasional communal dinners rather than daily meal service; this will matter for people seeking a more robust dining program. More significantly, a subset of reviews raises safety and management issues: there are reports of safety concerns and management actions around protection, including repeated lock changes. These incidents are described as affecting residents’ peace and comfort, and they introduce a serious caveat to otherwise positive feedback about security features like key fob and intercom access.

Management impressions are mixed. While many reviewers praise a personable, responsive manager and staff who are easy to speak with, others mention management shortcomings specifically related to handling security/protection matters. This creates a pattern where operational responsiveness (maintenance, friendly staff, unit updates) coexists with episodic concerns about how security incidents are managed and communicated, leading to some residents feeling a loss of safety or comfort.

In summary, Spring Ridge Senior appears to offer a clean, comfortable independent living environment with friendly residents, solid amenities, and attentive maintenance and staff for day‑to‑day living. It is best suited for prospective residents who prioritize a well‑maintained property, energy efficiency, on‑site recreational amenities, and a strong sense of community. Those considering the community should explicitly ask about current security measures and any recent incidents or lock changes, clarify dining options if they prefer regular meal service, and confirm costs and fee structures to judge affordability. The balance of generally positive lived experience with a few pronounced safety and management concerns is the defining theme across these reviews.

    About Spring Ridge Senior

Spring Ridge Senior is a senior living community in Frederick, MD, designed for people aged 62 and older, where residents can choose between one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments that come spacious and bright, and they're encouraged to bring their own furniture and decorations from home to make their space feel comfortable and familiar, and the staff, known for being friendly, helpful, and kind, are around to help with daily needs like medication, bathing, dressing, and other tasks, and there's always someone available because supervision is around the clock with licensed professionals, and folks get the chance to join a range of social, educational, fitness, and recreational activities so they can stay busy, meet others, and build friendships, and you'll find amenities like nutritious meals planned by chefs, a full-service salon, transportation and parking, pet-friendly policies, and scheduled events each week that try to cover everything from mental games to physical exercise, and there's also support for those who want independent living, assisted living, and even special memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and they provide home care through trained aides who help with daily routines and non-medical needs, and they try to keep life convenient by doing things like handling maintenance, meals, and other chores, and the application process requires things like a driver's license or ID, Social Security card, proof of income, bank statements, references, and a non-refundable fee, usually $25 to $50, and rent can be fixed at a lower rate than regular apartments in the area or it can be income-based, generally about 30% of monthly income, because Spring Ridge Senior is a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Community, and open house events and downloadable applications are available, and the community manager is Charmaine E. Jefferson, who's available during most weekdays and by appointment on Sundays, so if someone can't reach the office by phone or email, trying in person is suggested, and longtime residents say the staff help create a comfortable and welcoming place for both residents and their families, and the community has received awards for care, activities, support, and friendliness, and people get perks like chef-prepared meals, transportation, and plenty of options to stay busy or relax, but there aren't any unique names for programs or meetups that have been made public, and while brochures and floor plans are given out, there's no long list of all services, care types, or policies, but overall, Spring Ridge Senior aims to support people who want a safe, convenient, and social place to live as they age.
