    Bright community with excellent services

I toured and was impressed - bright, very clean, well-kept community with gorgeous independent-living patio homes and attractive apartments (two bedrooms, big kitchen, washer/dryer, attached garage). The on-site services are excellent: rehab/assisted living, on-campus dental, barber/beauty shop, meals (delivered/order-ahead and breakfast in the community room), plenty of activities (bingo, shuffleboard, car shows) and transportation when available. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely caring - attentive during rehab and transition - though there were some restrictions that didn't fit my needs and no immediate openings; overall I'm happy with the place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Elderwood Residences at Cheektowaga is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on caring staff, high facility cleanliness, and a broad spectrum of on-campus services. Multiple reviewers praised management as personable and caring, and staff were frequently described as friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive—some staff even knew residents by name. Clinical services receive favorable comments: reviewers reported dignity-preserving care, attentive wound care, positive rehabilitation experiences, and the convenience of on-site assisted living, rehab, and dental services. The transition process for new residents was described as helpful and smooth by those who commented on it.

Physical facilities and apartment features are highlighted as major strengths. Several reviewers described the property as meticulously kept, with bright, comfortable interiors and well-maintained outdoor spaces and patios. Independent-living patio homes with attached garages were called out as attractive options. Apartment layouts mentioned include two-bedroom units with large kitchens, living rooms, a bath and a half, and in-unit washer/dryer plus standard appliances—features that appeal to residents seeking a near-home living experience. On-site amenities also contribute strongly to resident satisfaction: a community room offering breakfast, a barber shop and beauty salon, organized events, bingo and shuffleboard, car shows, and other get-togethers were named repeatedly as enhancing daily life.

Dining and transportation receive consistent but slightly nuanced praise. The community offers delivered meals with a wide-ranging menu and order-ahead options; several reviewers specifically said the food was very good. Breakfast service in the community room is an appreciated touch. Transportation and scheduled bus rides for events are part of the community offerings and were positively noted; however, some reviewers pointed out that rides were temporarily paused because of COVID, so availability can be affected by external circumstances. A small number of reviewers did not comment on dining because they were in independent living plans and arranged meals differently.

A few patterns of concern emerge from the feedback and are worth noting for prospective residents and families. Availability appears limited at times—one reviewer noted there were no immediate openings—so waitlists or timing could be an issue. Some reviewers felt that staff quality could be more consistent; while most staff impressions were excellent, a few comments suggested variability. A handful of reviewers encountered facility or policy restrictions that meant the community could not meet certain individual needs; in other words, this community may not be a fit for every specialized requirement. COVID-related matters were also mentioned: transportation pauses and at least one remark about booster readiness or policies indicate that pandemic-era protocols can influence services and resident experience.

In summary, Elderwood Residences at Cheektowaga is portrayed as a well-kept, amenity-rich community staffed by caring, experienced people and supported by on-site clinical resources that make it a convenient, one-stop option for many seniors. Its strengths are particularly pronounced in staff attentiveness, rehabilitation and clinical care, cleanliness, attractive independent-living units, and a lively activity and dining program. Prospective residents should factor in potential availability constraints, clarify any specific care or policy limitations up front, and confirm current transportation and COVID-related policies when considering placement.
